A Magnet Pole Shape Optimization of a Large Scale BLDC Motor Using a RSM With Design Sensitivity Analysis (민감도기법과 RSM을 이용한 대용량 BLDC 전동기 영구자석의 형상 최적화)

  • This paper presents an algorithm for the permanent magnet shape optimization of a large scale BLDC(Brushless DC) motor to minimize the cogging torque. A response surface method (RSM) using multiquadric radial basis function is employed to interpolate the objective function in design parameter space. In order to get a reasonable response surface with relatively small number of sampling data points, additional sampling points are added on the basis of design sensitivity analysis computed by using FEM. The algorithm has 2 stages: the first stage is to determine the PM arc angle, and the 2nd stage is to optimize the magnet pole shape. The developed algorithm is applied to a 5MW BLDC motor to get a minimum cogging torque. After 3 iterations with 4 design parameters, the cogging torque is reduced to 13.2% of the initial one.

  • this paper studies the influence of permanent magnet on the vibration of synchronous motor two PM motors with NdFeB and Ferrite magents which have same Back-EMF and output power have been desined. First, the dynamic simulation is performed with these two motors' parameters. The current waveforms can be evaluated. And then based on the equivalent magnetization current principle, the magnetic force density and force including the tangential and radial direction components can be calculated. According to the relationship between the vibration and radial force, the vibration of these two motors can be predicted. This result will give meaningful advice to the motor design.

  • Tube Process (TP) is a process to produce permanent magnets using a deformable tube for densification of magnet powder. This process claims that it can accomplish both densification and anisotropication in one step forming. This process is distinguished from other processes since it uses a deformable copper tube for densification of magnet powder. In this paper, simulation has been carried out for tile Tube Process in a closed die considering the compressibility of powdered material, arbitrary curved shape and deformable body contact between Nd-Fe-B magnet powder and a copper tube. Results show that the finite element analysis of the Tube Process plays an important role in the stage of preform design.

  • The goal of this study is to develop a linear DC motor with high thrust, speed and stiffness for machine tool. In the first phase of this study, We has made a pilot model and measuring system. Using the measuring system, We could finished the performance test of the pilot model, which continuous thrust is 1, 391N. Experimental values agree with the theoretical results well. In a certain sense, We are expecting the realization of linear motor with continuous thrust of 6, 000 to 7, 000N next time.

  • KSTAR 토카막의 플라즈마 가열을 위한 NBI 장치의 대전류 이온원 방전 특성을 수소와 헬륨 개스를 사용하여 조사하였다. NBI 이온원은 빔 방향과 반대로 가속되는 전자들을 저지하는 전자덤프(electron dump), 병렬로 연결된 32개의 텅스텐 필라멘트(직경 1.5nn0, 영구자석(Nd-Fe)에 의해 만들어지는 강한 cusp 자장으로 둘러싸인 플라즈마 방전실 및 120kV의 에너지를 인가하는 가속부로 이루어지는데, 최대 빔 전류 65A에서 300초의 장시간 운전을 목표로 하고 있다. 수소와 헬륨 개스 분위기에서 안정된 플라즈마를 얻을 수 있는 필라멘트 전류의 파형을 각각 구하고, 기체압력(0.01~0.4 mbar) 및 아크 전류(100~1200A에)에 따른 플라즈마 파라메타 값들을 직경 1mm의 Langmuir probe를 이용하여 측정하였다. 또한 이온원 운전에 중요한 파라메타인 방전실 내의 플라즈마 밀도 분포와 장시간 운전 가능성에 대한 조사도 수행하였다.

  • This paper presents the design and finite-element(FE) analysis of an axial-flux permanent-magnet synchronous generator using neodymium-iron-boron(NdFeB) magnets for directly coupled wind turbines. For the high energy density and light weight, an axial-flux permanent-magnet(PM) generator type is used. The simple magnetic equivalent circuit approach is used for initial design iteration, and the finite-element method is applied to analyze the detailed characteristics.

  • Experiments and design efforts have been made to develope a hybrid-type magnet for magnetically levitated(MAGLEV) vehicle using NdFeB permanent magnet. The permanent magnet, which embedded in both poles of the magnet, has been designed, analyzed using FEM program. The model is manufactured and tested to verify its performance.

  • Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the non-contact power transmission method of magnetic gears. Since there is no mechanical contact, noise caused by friction can be reduced, and even if a sudden large force is applied, the impact of the gear is close to zero. Further, since the power is transmitted by the magnetic flux, it has high reliability. However, there is a problem that a loss due to a magnetic field due to use of a magnetic flux. The loss caused by the magnetic field of the magnetic gear is a joule loss called eddy current loss. In addition, the eddy current loss in the magnetic gear largely occurs in the permanent magnet, but it is a fatal loss to the permanent magnet which is vulnerable to heat. Particularly, magnetic gears requiring high torque density use NdFeB series permanent magnets, and this permanent magnets have a characteristic in which the magnetic force decreases as temperature increases. Therefore, in this paper, the eddy current loss of the permanent magnet according to the permanent magnet attaching method is analyzed in order to reduce the eddy current loss of the permanent magnet. We have proposed a structure that can reduce the eddy current loss through the analysis and show the effect of reducing the loss of the proposed structure.

Morphology of La-Co substituted SrM ferrite (La-Co치환량에 따른 스트론튬 페라이트의 미세구조)

  • This experiment was carried out to examine the effects of morphology on properties of La-Co substituted SrM ferrite. The magnetic properties of calcined and sintered materials were varried with the substitutional amount of La and Co elements in Sr-ferrite. In the substituted SrM ferrite, the atomic fraction x of La is directly related to the mole ratio n of iron oxide and the atomic fraction y of Co by equation x=2ny. The Hcj values of the calcined powder were about 270 kA/m and 240 kA/m with x=0.3 and x=0.2, respectively at stoichiometry, n=6.0. Crystallites of the sintered material were grown with a plate shape, and their size decreased with increasing mole ratios. Such a shape was caused by the initial state of crystallite formed after calcination. In case of x=0.3 and n=6.0, Br was 415 mT and Hcj was 355 kA/m, and in x=0.2 and n=6.0, Br was 410 mT and Hcj was 370 kA/m. The squareness in 2nd quarter of BH curve with x=0.2 was smoothly improved to compared with x=0.3.
