방송프로그램 시청 패턴에 기반한 효율적인 채널 네비게이션 기법 (An Efficient Channel Navigation Scheme based on Patterns of Watching TV Programs)

  • 디지털 방송의 등장으로 다양한 TV 채널들이 시청자에게 제공되고 있지만, 이러한 환경 변화는 오히려 시청자들에게 자신들이 원하는 TV 프로그램을 찾는데 어려움을 겪도록 하고 있다. 이와 같은 어려움을 해소하기 위하여 효율적인 채널 네비게이션 기법(Channel Navigation Scheme)들이 제안되었다. 이 기법들은 시청자의 과거 시청 히스토리 정보를 분석하여 시청자가 선호하는 TV 채널을 예측하고, 시청자가 채널을 변경하고자 할 때 예측된 채널을 제공한다. 기존에 제안된 채널 네비게이션 기법으로는 시청자가 가장 자주 선택한 채널을 제공해 주는 기법인 MFS(Most Frequently Selected)와 가장 최근에 시청한 채널을 제공해주는 기법인 MRS(Most Recently Selected)가 있다. 하지만 MRS, MFS와 같이 시청자의 채널 시청정보에 기반한 방식은 한 채널에서 여러 가지 방송프로그램을 제공하는 현재의 TV 방송에 적합하지 않을 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 시청자의 채널 시청 정보 대신에 방송프로그램의 시청 정보를 기반으로 채널을 제공해 주는 PMFS(Program Most Frequently Selected)를 제안한다. 또한, 시뮬레이션을 통해 기존의 채널 탐색 기법인 MFS, MRS과 비교하여 PMFS의 탐색 거리(Seek Distance)가 더 짧음을 보인다.

  • Yangtze River channel is in natural condition for a long time. There are more to be done in grade of navigation and transport. Since 1980's the rate of vessel in JiangSu channel is going up every year, especially for ocean vessels. Meanwhile, the serious factors such as no sailing at night have become a battlement causing the long period for vessels, high cost for shipowners, lower competitiveness for JiangSu ports along the Yangtze River. It also can not meet the port logistic development. After the Ships' Routeing in JiangSu has been carried out. It has improved the safety of navigation in JiangSu area and reduced the risk of pollution or other damage to the marine environment caused by ships colliding or anchoring in or near JiangSu channel. By analyzing, compareing, calculating and model forecasting. The main focus of the paper is put on the study the development of port, channel in JiangSu and efficiency in many fields. Navigation efficiency of the sailing at night; Safety efficiency of reducing the risk by ships; More efficiency of the higher cargo volumes of the other ports in Yangtze River with the increase cargo volume of JiangSu ports along Yangtze River. The purpose of this study is: To get the social and economical efficiency after the Ships' Routeing in JiangSu has been carried out. Also the role of the Ships' Routeing of JiangSu in the development of Port and Channel.

식생모형에 의한 항로매몰 저감 특성 (Reduction Effect for Deposition in Navigation Channel with Vegetation Model)

  • 연안 해역에 분포하는 식생은 연안 생태계의 다양성을 유지하면서 해저에 고정되어 이들 연안식생은 파랑을 감쇠할 뿐 만 아니라 표사이동 및 해저변동을 저감하는 역할을 하고 있다. 이같은 관점에서 식생모형은 경관이나 연안해역에 영향을 최소화 하면서 파랑을 저감하거나 해저바닥을 안정시키는 효과적적인 방법 중의 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 파랑에 의한 항로 매몰특성을 해석하기 위해 수치 및 수리모형실험을 통해 검토하였으며 이를 위해 사용된 수치모형은 항로 전 후면부에 식생 유무에 따른 파랑감쇠 및 해저지형 변동 특성을 해석하기 위해 개발되었다. 수치모형실험의 결과와 비교를 위해 항로매몰 저감을 위한 식생모형의 효과를 파악하기 위하여 수리모형실험을 수행하였으며, 이들 실험 결과 식생이 항로 매몰 저감에 효과적임을 확인하였다. 그리고 수치 및 수리모형 실험 결과가 대체적으로 잘 일치하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

복단면 항로를 이용한 항로매몰 저감공법 (Reduction Method of Shoaling of Navigation Channel Using Composite Channel Slope)

  • 비정상 이송확산 방정식의 고정도 수치계산법을 이용, 표사이동의 비평형성을 고려하는 항로매몰 예측법을 개발하고, 2차원 이동상 모형실험으로부터 얻어지는 항로매몰형상과 매몰량을 비교 검토함으로써 예측법의 적용성을 확인하였다. 아울러 이 예측법을 현지 scale의 model 항로에 적용, 매몰형상 및 매몰량을 예측함과 더불어 항로경사부에 있어서 복단면을 설치하여 항로내에서의 매몰량을 최소화하는 항로매몰 저감공법에 대하여 검토하였다. 그 결과. 항로경사부에 설치되는 복단면의 형상에 있어서, 복단면의 폭은 비평형상태의 표사이동이 평형상태로 회복됨에 요구되는 최소의 유하거리로서, 복단면의 깊이는 항로주변의 수심과의 비로서 결정되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 항로경사면에 설치되는 복단면의 폭과 깊이는, 역시 항로주변의 파랑과 흐름 그리고 저질입경 등과 같은 자연조건요인들에 의하여 크게 좌우되는 점을 감안할 때, 항로매몰저감을 목적으로 하는 복단면의 설치계획 및 시공에 앞서 세밀한 현지관측조사와 많은 자료수집 및 분석이 요구된다.

Development of End-to-end Numerical Simulator for Next Generation GNSS Signal Design

  • This paper presents the development of an end-to-end numerical simulator for signal design of the next generation global navigation satellite system (GNSS). The GNSS services are an essential element of modern human life, becoming a core part of national infra-structure. Several countries are developing or modernizing their own positioning and timing system as their demand, and South Korea is also planning to develop a Korean Positioning System (KPS) based on its own technology, with the aim of operation in 2034. The developed simulator consists of three main units such as a signal generator, a channel unit, and a receiver. The signal generator is constructed based on the actual navigation satellite payload model. For channels, a simple Gaussian channel and land mobile satellite (LMS) multipath channel environments are implemented. A software receiver approach based on a commercial GNSS receiver model is employed. Through the simulator proposed in this paper, it is possible to simulate the entire transceiver chain process from signal generation to receiver processing including channel effect. Finally, numerical simulation results for a simple example scenario is analyzed. The use of the numerical signal simulator in this paper will be ideally suited to design a new navigation signal for the upcoming KPS by reducing the research and development efforts, tremendously.

조선환경스트레스 모델을 이용한 편도항로 만곡부에서의 선박조종 난이도 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Ship-handling Difficulty in Bend Channels)

  • 해상교통시스템은 선박, 조선자, 선박과 조선자를 둘러싼 환경으로 구성되어 있다. 항행환경은 조선환경, 교통환경, 정보사회환경으로 분류하며, 항로설계는 조선환경의 일부를 설정하는 것이다. 본 연구는 항만설비 중 항로설계기준의 적정성을 확인하기 위하여 조선자의 입장에서 직선항로와 항로만곡부에서의 조선부담감을 정량적으로 평가한 것이다. 환경스트레스모델을 이용하여 대상항로에서 항로폭, 선박전장, 선속 등의 요소를 고려하여 선박조종 난이도를 평가하고, 그 상관관계를 구하였으며 조선부담의 경감방안을 제시하였다.

Navigation Signals Based on Orthogonal Tiered Polyphase Code

  • A navigation signal based on orthogonal tiered polyphase code was proposed. For the proposed signal, tiered polyphase code was used as the code of a pilot channel. Tiered polyphase code is a complex number type code, and thus the pilot channel and data channel were separated using the Walsh code which makes the correlation between different codes become 0. The results of the simulation indicated that the correlation characteristics and signal acquisition performance of the proposed signal were identical to those of tiered polyphase code, and that the disadvantage of tiered polyphase code could be supplemented through a data channel in terms of signal tracking.

Traffic Safety Analysis in Mombasa Channel: Integrating Ferry Crossings and Main Transit

  • This study examined challenges posed by two ferry routes, namely, Likoni and Mtongwe crossings, in the Mombasa Channel and their impact on navigational safety. Utilizing the Environmental Stress (ES) model, this study analyzed current ship traffic and assessed stress levels imposed by ferry crossing traffic on navigators. ES values revealed significant stress at these ferry crossings attributed to varying transit speeds. Standardizing transit speeds at two ferry passages can reduce high stress levels, presenting a viable solution. Furthermore, the IWRAP Mk2 simulation underscores crossing collisions as a significant concern, particularly at Likoni and Mtongwe crossings, due to increased ferry traffic. This research offers valuable insights for stakeholders, such as the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), to develop targeted safety measures and enhance the flow of ship traffic in the channel.

A Basic Study on Marine Traffic Assessment in Mombasa Approach Channel-I

  • Mombasa is the principle port of Kenya, serving inland countries in Eastern and central Africa. Mombasa port has undergone a massive infrastructure upgrade and dredging works with an expectation that more vessels and large post Panamax ships will be able to enter Mombasa port. Therefore, it is vital to carry out a marine traffic risk assessment in order to quantify the degree of navigation safety needed in the Mombasa approach channel and also to evaluate the navigation risk imposed on transit traffic by local ferry traffic. In this paper, a marine traffic risk assessment is carried out using the IWRAP mk2, Environmental Stress (ES) model, and the PARK model. Risk assessment results show that Likoni area has an unacceptable stress/risk ranking at 20.7% by the ES model and 38.89% by the PARK model. The IWRAP mk2 model shows that the crossing area has the highest risk of crossing collision and the area at the entrance to the inner channel has a high risk of grounding. The conclusions derived from this study will provide the basis for proposing the most effective countermeasure to improve navigation safety in the Mombasa approach channel.
