A solid-HDDR characteristics of the Nd-Fe-B-type alloys magnetic properties of the solid-HDDR treated materials have been investigated using three types of alloys; $Nd_{15}Fe_{77}B_8 (alloy A), Nd_{16}Fe_{75.9}B_8Zr_{0.1}(alloy B), and Nd_{12.6}Fe_{68.7}Co_{11.6}B_8Ga_{1.0}Zr_{0.1} $(alloy C). It has been found that the four-components alloy B and six-components alloy C have showed higher hydrogenation temperatures than the ternary alloy A. The alloys A and B appeared to absorb more hydrogen gas more rapidly as well compared to the alloy C. The disproportionation temperature of hydrogenated materials was exhibited no significant difference among the alloys. The thermal stability of the hydrided materials of the three types of alloys was found to become more stable in order of number of components. The disproportionation and the recombination kinetics were significantly sluggish in the solid-HDDR manner with respect to the conventional manner. Some degree of anisotropic nature was found to exist in the ingot and this anisotropic nature was retained even after the solid-HDDR treatment. It was suggested the solid-HDDR treatment may possibly be used for a preparation of an isotropic or anisotropic Nd-Fe-B-type cast magnets.
The numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the thermal-fluid phenomena occurred inside the experimental apparatus during a PCCS, used to remove heat released in accidents from a containment of light water nuclear power plant, operation. Numerical simulations of the flow and heat transfer caused by wall condensation inside the containment simulation vessel (CSV), which equipped with 18 vertical heat exchanger tubes, were conducted using the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software ANSYS-CFX. Shear stress transport (SST) and the wall condensation model were used for turbulence closure and wall condensation, respectively. The simulation using the actual size of the apparatus. However, rather than simulating the whole experimental apparatus in consideration of the experimental cases, calculation resources, and calculation time, the simulation model was prepared only in CSV. Selective simulation was conducted to verify the effects of non-condensable gas(NC gas) concentration, CSV internal pressure, and wall sub-cooling conditions. First, as a result of the internal flow of CSV, it was observed that downward flow due to condensation occurred surface of the vertical tube and upward flow occurred in the distant place. Natural convection occurred actively around the heat exchanger tube. Due to this rising and falling internal flow, natural circulation occurred actively around the heat exchanger tubes. Next, in order to check the performance of built-in condensation model using according to the non-condensable gas concentration, CSV internal flow and wall sub-cooling, the heat flux values were compared with the experimental results. On average, the results were underestimated with and error of about 25%. In addition, the influence of CSV internal pressure and wall sub-cooling was small, but when the condensate was highly generated due to the low non-condensable gas concentration, the error was large compared to the experimental values. This is considered to be due to the nature of the condensation model of the CFX code. However, in spite of the limitations of CFD, it is valid to use the built-in condensation model of CFD for PCCS performance prediction from a conservative perspective.

Microcellular foam processing of polymers requires a nucleated cell density greater than $10^9\;cells/cm^3$ so that the fully grown cells are smaller than 10 mm. A microcellular foam can be developed by first saturating a polymer sample with a volatile blowing agent, followed by rapidly decreasing its solubility in the polymer. In general, the cellular structure of crystalline polymer foams is difficult to control, compared to that of amorphous polymer foams. Since the gas does not dissolved in the crystallites, the polymer/gas solution formed during the microcellular processing is nonuniform. Moreover, the bubble nucleation is nonhomogeneous because of the heterogeneous nature of the crystalline polymer. In this paper, the effects of the crystallinity and morphology of crystalline polymers on the microcellular foam processing and on reflectivity of products are investigated. First, polymer specimens with various morphology and amount of solved blowing agent were prepared by varying the saturation pressure, saturation time and foaming condition. Then, cell morphologies according to several conditions were studied. The specimens with differing gas amount of solved and morphologies were foamed and their cellular structures were compared. The experimental results of reflectivity are compared to raw specimen and another specimen of different experimental conditions. After the experiments, recognize whether how reflectivity changes according to solved gas amount. And the effect of cell density and cell size on reflectivity is studied

In this paper, the diagnostic expert system for silicone oil-filled transformer is developed using dissolved gas analysis(DGA). There are many diagnostic methods for diagnostic oil-immersed transformer. But DGA is used to the proposed expert system since it has been verified that DGA is very efficient diagnostic method for transformer. In addition, it is resonable that fuzzy rule, degree of inclusion and fuzzy measure must be considered to handle the uncertainty nature of gas boundary and rules. The proposed expert system consists of knowledge base module, inference engine module and human-machine interface(HMI) module. The knowledge base module consists of the knowledge using the rule. The inference engine module is used to the fuzzy rule. The history of the transformer gas data is managed by the database. the effect of the proposed expert system is verified by case studies.
Accidental oil and gas leak is a critical concern for the offshore industry because it can lead to severe consequences and as a result, it is imperative to evaluate the probabilities of occurrence of the consequences of the leakage in order to assess the risk. Event Tree Analysis (ETA) is a technique to identify the consequences that can result from the occurrence of a hazardous event. The probability of occurrence of the consequences is evaluated by the ETA, based on the failure probabilities of the sequential events. Conventional ETA deals with events with crisp failure probabilities. In offshore applications, it is often difficult to arrive at a single probability measure due to lack of data or imprecision in data. In such a scenario, fuzzy set theory can be applied to handle imprecision and data uncertainty. This paper presents fuzzy ETA (FETA) methodology to compute the probability of the outcomes initiated due to oil/gas leak in an actual offshore-onshore installation. Post FETA, sensitivity analysis by Fuzzy Weighted Index (FWI) method is performed to find the event that has the maximum contribution to the severe sequences. It is found that events of 'ignition', spreading of fire to 'equipment' and 'other areas' are the highest contributors to the severe consequences, followed by failure of 'leak detection' and 'fire detection' and 'fire water not being effective'. It is also found that the frequency of severe consequences that are catastrophic in nature obtained by ETA is one order less than that obtained by FETA, thereby implying that in ETA, the uncertainty does not propagate through the event tree. The ranking of severe sequences based on their probability, however, are identical in both ETA and FETA.
In this study, an improved acetone-water fractional precipitation process for paclitaxel using ultrasonic cavitation bubbles and gas bubbles was developed. Compared to the conventional method, the time required for precipitation has been reduced by 20~25 times. In addition, the particle size of paclitaxel decreased by 3.5~5.5 times and the diffusion coefficient of paclitaxel increased by 3.5~6.7 times. In the case of precipitation using ultrasonic cavitation bubbles, as the ultrasonic power increased and the temperature decreased, the precipitation rate constant increased. In the case of precipitation using gas bubbles, as the gas flow rate increased and the temperature decreased, the precipitation rate constant increased. Thermodynamic parameters revealed the exothermic, irreversible, and nonspontaneous nature of the improved fractional precipitation.

This study examined the influences of computer-assisted instruction(CAl) upon high school students' conceptual understanding, algorithmic problem solving ability, learning motivation, and attitudes toward chemistry instruction. CAl programs were designed to supply animated molecular motions for emphasizing the particulate dynamic nature of matter and immediate feedbacks according to students' response types at each stage of four stage problem-solving strategy(understanding, planning, solving, and reviewing). The CAl and control groups (2 classes) were selected from a girls high school in Seoul, and taught about gas law for four class hours. Data analysis indicated that the students at the CAl group scored significantly higher than those at the control group in the tests on conceptual understanding and algorithmic problem solving ability. In addition, the students at the CAl group performed significantly better in the tests on the learning motivation and attitudes toward chemistry instruction.
In order to produce a water repellent surface on polyester fabric, samples were treated in the atmosphere of $CF_4$ glow discharge plasma. The samples used in the study were ployester fabric and poyester film. The purpose of film treatment is for the comparison of hydrophobicity with fabric sample at same treatment condition. Radio frequency(13.56MHz) generator was used as electric source and its in put power is 100 Watt. Water repellency was evaluated by contact angle measurement. Result obtained are as follows. 1) Fiber interstice of original fabric was ana lysed as 0.43$\mu$m, and this value was sufficiently ideal for making water repellent fabric. 2) The most favorable setting position of substrate was the center area between two electrodes. 3) Fabric contact angle was higher than film contact angle at same treatment condition, and its difference was more than 50${\circ}$. And it was incapalbe of fabric contact angle measurement when the film contact angle was less than 90${\circ}$. because the fabric is susceptible to absorption of water by the capillary effect. 4) Fabric contact angle can not revealed the precise defferences of surface hydrophobicity, however, the film contact angle showed the real hydrophobic nature. 5) It was not sufficient method to evaluate the hydrophobicity of fabric surface by merely measure of the water contact angle. 6) It showed high water repellent nature at 0.06 torr of $CF_4$ plasma gas pressure and duration of 45 seconds treatment, and it can not be anticipated more improved nature if the pressure and duration of treatment time were increased.
The purpose of this study is to compare the elementary science curriculum and textbooks of Korea, the United States, Japan, and Singapore to know how the contents on particulate concept of matter is introduced and expressed. In Korea, particulate concept of matter was adopted as a term for 'molecules' in the 3rd through 6th curriculum, and the term for 'particles' was adopted in the 2009 revised curriculum. In the United States, NGSS adopted the term 'particle' in fifth grade. Japan presented the concept of 'particle' as a core concept of matter in the commentary, and the expressions 'particles' were being introduced in the textbooks. But it did not cover particulate nature of matter at the elementary school level in Singapore. An analysis of elementary textbooks in Korea, the United States and Japan except Singapore showed particulate expressions in 'dissolution', 'state change of water', 'gas pressure and volume', 'combustion and extinguishment' units. Korean textbook was only being introduced in 'dissolution' and 'gas pressure and volume', but in the textbooks of Japan and the United States, water was expressed as particles in 'state change of water' unit. Discussion and implication on the introduction of particulate concept to elementary science curriculum and textbooks were suggested based on the results.
In order to reveal physical conditions of molecular gas in active galaxies (active galaxies mean both starbursts and AGNs in this paper), we carried out systematic observations (R = 19 ~ 120) of CO fundamental band at $4.7{\mu}m$ in absorption with AKARI. We also made follow-up CO absorption observations at higher spectral resolution (R = 5000 ~ 1000) with Subaru. Recently, Herschel made extensive observations of highly-excited CO lines in emission in the far-infrared. The two data sets (absorption and emission) sometimes provide us with apparently inconsistent results. One case is starburst galaxies: Subaru observations showed low temperature of molecular gas toward the starburst NGC 253, while Herschel detected highly excited CO lines in the starburst. This suggests that warm molecular clouds are more deeply embedded than newly formed star clusters. The other case is obscured AGNs; Herschel detected highly excited CO lines in emission in nearby AGNs, while AKARI and Subaru observations showed CO absorption only in some of the obscured AGNs. This could reflect the difference of nature of molecular tori in these AGNs. We propose the combination of the absorption and emission observations as an effective tool to reveal geometry of warm molecular clouds in active galaxies.
