The Riparian Vegetation of Close-to-Nature River${\cdot}$Streams in Korea

  • The present study was undertaken to classify and describe the riparian vegetation of the 6 river${\cdot}$stream of Korea Peninsula. As a result the vegetation was divided into nineteen communities. The vegetation units obtained in the present study were as follow: A: Salix koreensis community, B: Salix gracilistyla community, C: Robinia pseudo-acacia community, D: Amorpha fluticosa community, E: Brousonnetia papyrifera community, F: Phyllostachys bambusoides community, G: Rubus corchorifolius community, H: Phramities japonica community, I: Phramites communis community, J: Miscanthus sacchariflorus community, K: Miscanthus sinesis var. purpurascens community, L: Artemisia princeps var. orientalis community, M: Humulus japonicus community, N: Zoysia japonica community, O: Inperata cylindrica var. koenigii community, P: Agropyron tsukushiense var. transiens community, Q: Juncos effusus var. decipiens community, R: Rumex crispus community, S: Persicaria hydropiper community. The vegetation characteristics of riversides was recovered in the surveyed results according to river${\cdot}$stream basin, in other words, 10 communities in the upper river${\cdot}$stream riparian, 15 communities in the middle river${\cdot}$stream riparian, 10 communities in the down river${\cdot}$stream riparian. The Phragmites japonica community in the upper and Phragmites communis community in the down was analyzed by common community of the 6 river${\cdot}$stream riparian, respectively, but none in the middle. The standing profile of vegetation across 6 river${\cdot}$stream was seen stepwise Phragmites japonica community, Salix gracilistyla community, Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens community, shrub community by natural waterway in the upper, Salix gracilistyla community, Phragmites communis community, Rumex crispus community, Miscanthus sacchariflorus community, Humulus japonicus community in the middle, Phragmites communis community in the down. The differences of distributional featurs of vegetation emerged from the riparian of the 6 river${\cdot}$stream, but don't from the 6 river${\cdot}$stream.

도시자연공원의 식생구조에 따른 관리방안 - 인천광역시 월미공원의 사례 - (Structure and Management Devices of Vegetation at Weolmi Urban Nature Park, Incheon)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose vegetation management devices through analyzing the actual vegetation, flora, plant community structure and soil chemical concentrations in Weolmi urban nature park, Incheon. The actual vegetation of Weolmi Park in various areas is composed of urbanization area(2 types, 25.9%), landscape planting area(4 types, 16.1%), grass and marsh area(5 types, 7.6%) and mountain forest areal(14 types, 50.4%). The flora is composed of 295 taxa with 80 families, 253 species, 35 varieties and 7 formas, and among them there are 16 naturalized plant families, 39 species, 3 varieties. In reflection of size, the number of the species seems high but most of the them are under influence of human disturbance. Nine survey plots of plant community structure are classified into two groups. One is the semi-natural plant community(Prunus sargentii-Acer palmatum, Quercus accutissma-Prunus sargentii, Quercus serrata-Quercus accutissma-Prunus sargentii, Prunus sargentii, and Zelkova serrata-Prunus sargentii) that migrated finn the planting forest to the natural forest and the other is planting forest(Pinus koraienssis-Pinus thunbergii-Abies holophylla-Chamaectparis obtusa, Prunus sargentii, Pinus thunbergii-Alnus firma, Zelkova serrata). The average pH is 4.65 which means the soil acidity is quite high. The concentration of K, Ca, Mg and base saturation is very low. It seems that the environmental pollutants from Incheon Port and industrial plants near by survey site and long-distance transport of air pollutants from China made the soil condition worse. On the basis of the results above, six vegetation management devices are suggested: 1) removing the hazard plants(Pueraia thunbergiana and Humulus japonica), 2) natural landscape management of the middle and long term, 3) increasing species diversity, 4) Robinia pseudoacacia management, 5) keeping the naturalized plants from being distributed any further inside the mountain forest, 6) improving soil acidification.

  • 광주광역시(光州廣域市)의 대표적인 도시림(都市林)인 무등산(無等山)에 발달하고 있는 산림식생(山林植生)의 보전(保全)과 관리(管理)를 목적으로 식물사회학적(植物社會學的)인 방법에 의해 그 관리단위(管理單位)가 구분되고 그것의 공간적(空間的) 분포(分布)가 정밀(精密)하게 지도화(地圖化)되었다. 이 지역의 산림식생관리단위(山林植生管理單位)는 상위(上位) 21개(個) 단위(單位), 하위(下位) 10개(個) 단위(單位) 그리고 최종하위(最終下位) 9개(個) 단위(單位)로 구분되었으며, 총(總) 31개의 관리구성(管理區城)이 결정되었다. 정밀식생도(情密植生圖) 작성면적은 2,779.5ha이며, 그 중 자연식생(自然植生)이 78.9%인 2,192.0ha로 대부분을 차지하고 있었으며, 인공식생(人工植生)과 무립목지(無立木地)가 각각 5.7%인 159.1ha, 15.5%인 428.4ha로 나타났다. 자연림요소율(自然林要素率)은 타 지역의 도시림에 비교하여 볼 때 아주 높은 93.2%로 나타났다.

선정릉의 적정수용능력 추정 및 관리방안(I) -토양환경 및 식생분석- (Carrying Capacity Estimation and Management Planning of the Seonjeong Royal Tomb(I) -Soil Environment and Vegetation Analysis-)

  • The Seonjeong royal tomb is one of many historic sites in and around Seoul city and its natural environment and landscape have born damaged seriously by heavy use. So conservation planning with an estimation of reasonable carrying capacity shall be required In aspect of not only historic site conservation, but also urban forest and nature park management. Eight sites were sampled with clumped sampling method during July of 1986 and five quadrats were examined in each site. Environmental factors, actual vegetation, and environmental impact grade were investigated in field and vegetational structure was analyzed by estimation of importance value, species diversity, similarity index, DBH class distribution, etc. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. Damage on soil and vegetation of middle and lower layer increased according to amount of users'impact. 2. Semi - natural vegetation covered 63% of the total area(22.2 ha) and its major species were Pinus densiflora, Quercus aliena, Q mongolica, Sorbus alnifolia, etc. Pinus densiflora was a dominant species in heavy impact area. 3. Environmental impact grade 3, 4 and 5 area covered 51% of the seminatural vegetation, Especially, the area of impact grade 4 and 5 should be restored because self-refair seemed to be impossible. 4. The semi-natural vegetation was classified with four plant communities; two P.densiflora comm., Q. mongolica-P. densiflora comm. and Q. aliena comm. One of the P. densifolra comm. was destroyed seriously with no younger trees in middle and lower layer by overuse impact and would be bareland soon. But Q. aliena comm.in light impact area showed just completion of plant succession from P. densiflora comm.

속리산국립공원 화양계곡의 구곡경관 개선을 위한 식생관리방안 연구 (A Study on Vegetation Management Plan for Improvement of Gugok Landsacpe of Hwayang Valley in Songnisan National $Park^{1a}$)

  • 본 연구는 화양계곡의 훼손된 문화경관 및 자연경관 개선을 위한 관리방안을 제시하고자 속리산국립공원 화양계곡을 대상으로 화양구곡의 주요 경관특성 및 화양계곡 전체의 식생경관 분석을 실시하였다. 고문헌 분석을 통해 화양계곡과 계곡 내 구곡의 경관원형을 분석하였다. 화양계곡의 경관원형은 여울이 있는 높은 산과 암반, 천연의 소나무군락 경관이었으며 구곡의 경관은 암반, 맑은 소, 소나무군락 등으로 구성되었는데 대부분 식생발달에 의한 암반경관 차폐, 모래퇴적에 의한 소멸, 인공림에 의한 자연경관 훼손 등의 문제점이 분석되었다. 식생경관에서는 계곡 주변으로 은사시나무, 아까시나무, 잣나무 등 인공식생이 분포하여 자연경관 및 원래 화양계곡 경관과 이질적인 경관을 형성하였다. 화양계곡 및 구곡의 경관 관리는 조선시대 은일적 문화경관과 뛰어난 계곡 자연식생경관 보전을 목표로 하였다. 문화경관 보전을 위한 구곡경관 관리방안으로 식생 및 이용자 관리를 통한 구곡 경관대상 부각 및 조망점 관리를 제안하였고 구곡의 배경이 되는 화양계곡 전체의 식생경관관리는 소나무군락 유지, 천이유도를 위한 인공림의 인공수종 제거 및 밀도관리를 제시하였다.

Biomass and Carbon Storage Pattern in Natural and Plantation Forest Ecosystem of Chhattisgarh, India

  • We studied natural and plantation forest ecosystem of Sarguja in Chhattisgarh, India in order to understand how vegetation biomass, carbon stock and its allocation patterns vary among the sites. For this, stratified random sampling was opted to measure the different layers of vegetation. Wide floral diversity was found in the natural forest site as compared to the teak stand. Overall, 17 tree species found in natural forest comprising 8 families while in the teak stand 6 species were recorded. In understory strata 23 species were recorded (18 herbs and 5 shrubs) in natural forest whereas in teak stand 20 herb species and 3 shrubs were found. Great variation was also seen in the population dynamics of the different vegetation stratum in concerned sites. The sapling, seedling and herb density was found to be highest in natural stand while tree and shrub density was more in teak stand. Results indicated that stand biomass of the natural site was $321.19t\;ha^{-1}$ while in the teak stand it was $276.61t\;ha^{-1}$. The total biomass of tree layer in plantation site was $245.22t\;ha^{-1}$ and natural forest $241.44t\;ha^{-1}$. The sapling, seedling, shrub and forest floor biomass was found highest under natural forest as compared to the teak plantation site. Carbon stock has similar trend as that of biomass accumulation in natural forest and teak stand. Higher biomass accumulation and carbon stock were recorded in the higher girth class gradation of the population structure. Proper efforts are required to manage these diverse ecosystems to obtain higher biomass and sustainable ecological services.

세종시 괴화산 도시숲의 식생구조 (Vegetation Structure of Urban Forests on Mt. Goehwa, Sejong-Si)

  • 본 연구는 도시숲 이용 및 관리방안에 필요한 식생구조 정보를 제공하기 위하여 수행되었다. 세종특별자치시 괴화산을 대상으로 상관우점종 및 종조성에 의한 식생유형을 분석한 결과, 2개의 군락군(졸참나무-생강나무군락군과 큰금계국군락군)으로 대별되었다. 졸참나무-생강나무군락군은 인공림과 천연림 식생을 포함하고 있는데, 인공림은 리기다소나무군락, 밤나무군락, 아까시나무군락, 천연림은 굴참나무군락, 상수리나무군락, 소나무군락의 6개 단위로, 큰금계국군락군은 임연부의 식생을 구성하고 있는 큰낭아초군락, 싸리군락, 족제비싸리군락, 비수리군락의 4개 단위로 각각 분류되어 총 10개의 식생단위 체계로 나타났다. 중요치 분석결과 전체 종에서 밤나무가 6.7%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 리기다소나무 6.4%, 아까시나무 6.3% 순으로 나타나 괴화산은 인공조림 수종의 생태적 영향력이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 군락유사도에서 인공림과 천연림은 서로 간 종 구성이 동질적이나 임연부와는 이질적인 것으로 나타났으며, DCA분석에서도 동일한 결과로 나타났다. CCA분석 결과, 인공림과 천연림은 해발고도, 암석노출도, 출현종수에서 양의 상관관계로 나타났으며 임연부와는 음의 상관관계로 나타났다.

  • Vegetation and riverine structures were compared among urban and several semi-natural rivers by applying direct gradient analysis and ordination method. Urban rivers showed different species composition from the semi-natural ones. Species composition of semi-natural rivers depended on the geographical positions, such as the upstream, midstream, and downstream and on micro-topographies, such as the waterside, flooding bed, and embankment. Semi-natural rivers showed gentle change in micro-topography, whereas urban one did not so. Our restoration plan to improve the ecological quality of the degraded urban river by imitating semi-natural river was prepared based on those data.

수도권 지역 골프장의 연못식생 평가 (Pond Vegetation Assessment of Golf Courses in the Capital Region of Korea)

  • 수도권내 9개 골프장 연못에서 조사된 관속식물은 코리아 CC(Korea CC)에서 95종으로 가장 많은 종이 분포하고 있으며, 은화삼 CC(Eunhwasam CC)에서는 가장 적은 21종류가 조사되었다. 조사된 관속식물은 대체적으로 1-2년생의 단자엽식물과 다년생의 쌍자엽식물로 구성되어 있다. 연못식생의 외래식물과 식재식물의 비율은 지산 CC(Jisan CC)가 $52.3\%$의 비율을 보여 많은 식물들이 외래식물과 식재식물로 구성되어 있으며, 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)는 $21.1\%$로서 가장 낮은 비율을 보였다. 9개 골프장 중에서 식물군락이 가장 다양한 곳은 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)로서 총 21개 군락이 조사되었으며, 반자연식생 및 자연식생군락이 16개, 식재 또는 외래식물군락이 9개 군락으로 조사되었다. 전체 연못의 반자연식생 및 자연식생 식물군락 중 수생식물군락은 17개 군락으로 조사되었으며, 교란지식생 및 식재군락에서는 12개의 수생식물군락이 조사되었다 조사된 9개 골프장에서 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)가 자연식물군락이 대상식물군락 보다 많았으며, 프리스틴벨리 CC(Pristine Valley CC)는 반자연식생 및 자연식생이 조사되지 않았다. 연못식생의 자연성 평가에서는 마이다스벨리 CC(Midas Valley CC)와 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)가 평가지표에 따른 가치등급에서 놀은 자연성을 보였으나, 서서울 CC(Seseoul CC)와 은화삼 CC(Eunhwasam CC)는 가장 낮은 자연성을 보였다. 이들 자연성에 대한 유사성 거리계수의 상대거리에 의한 집단 분류에서는 인위적 식생이 우세한 태영 CC(Taeyoung CC), 은화삼 CC(Eunhwasam CC), 지산 CC(Jisan CC), 서서울 CC(Seseoul CC)가 하나의 군으로 구분되었으며, 반자연적 식생의 특징을 보인 코리아 CC(Korea CC)와 프리스틴벨리 CC(Pristine Valley CC)가 하나의 군으로 조사된 골프장에서 비교적 자연성이 놀은 마이다스벨리 CC(Midas Valley CC)와 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)가 하나의 군을 형성하고 있었다. 블루헤런 CC(Blue Heron CC)는 다른 군과는 또 다른 의미로서 구분되었는바, 블루헤런 CC(Blue Heron CC)는 경관적 의미에 대한 가치평가가 놀은 결과로서 하나의 군으로 나누어 졌다.
