  • Hierophany, according to Mircea Eliade, is a natural manifestation of the initial sacred. Through hierophany, profane objects and sites transform their qualities and then they themselves become sacred. People in traditional societies, in an attempt to reenact the initial hierophany, tried to perform consecrating rituals to replicate the first moment of the initial hierophany, at the same time and site. This article focuses on the concrete sites of hierophany. In ancient China, we can see specific sites that manifest the sacred such as Kunlun(崑崙), Jianmu(建木) and zongmiao(宗廟). Kunlun has the characteristics as the Cosmic Mountain that is the realm of the gods that tiandi(天帝) built as his center on the Earth, and it bridges Heaven and Earth. Jianmu joins Heaven, Earth, and the underworld like a Cosmic Tree or Pillar. It can be stated that zongmiao, the royal ancestral temple, functions as the Center of the World, the axis mundi, in which religious human beings express their desire to live in a sacred site, and in which they can regain their initial purity of spirits by communicating with the gods and ancestors. These three are the sites of manifestation of the sacred in China.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data to assist students and industrial designers in fashion by examining the trend of designing women's wear with the SCAMPER method. In the research, the seven types of SCAMPER methods for fashion design were classified based on the previous studies. From 2010 S/S to 2020 S/S, data from 5,149 photographs were collected through overlapping checks and classified by SCAMPER method type. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 25.0 for frequency analysis. As a result, in the SCAMPER "combine" method, more than two items were combined, or structural details were combined with items. In the most applied "adapt" method was involved imitating similar images, or natural forms, or other objects. The "modify" method was applied by changing the shape of some details in basic fashion items. The "magnify" method was applied by enlarging, elongating, or elevating some details of fashion items. The "minify" method was applied by minimizing, shortening, or lowering some details of basic fashion. The method of "put to other use" was expressed throughout the clothing by using non-fabric or trimmings such as metal, beads, and strings. The "rearrange" method was applied by repositioning the top and bottom, front and back, or outside and inside in fashion items and in details. The "reverse" method was applied by reversing the style of fashion, mix-and-match fabric, or switching the gender of the fashion items.

  • We propose an edge-preserving transmission estimation by comparing the patch-based dark channel and the pixel-based dark channel near the edge, in order to improve the quality of outdoor images deteriorated by conditions such as fog and smog. Moreover, we propose a refinement that applies the Guided Image Filtering (GIF), a kind of edge-preserving smoothing filtering methods, to edges using Laplacian operation for natural restoration of image objects and backgrounds, so that we can dehaze a single image and improve the visibility effectively. Experimental results carried out on various outdoor hazy images that show the proposed method has less computational complexity than the conventional methods, while reducing distortion such as halo effect, and showing excellent dehazing performance. In It can be confirmed that the proposed method can be applied to various fields including devices requiring real-time performance.

  • The present study analyzed the spatial characteristics of S village according to the Feng-Shui theory(風水理論). People's life span is affected by several factors including hereditary constitution, dietary life and life habits but recently there is an opinion that longevity village in Korea are commonly located in areas at a proper altitude. The objective of the present study was to basic investigate the characteristics of S village from the viewpoint of Feng-Shui(風水). As for this study, it will be given help to a longevity village plan. For this purpose, we conducted field survey and map investigation of the natural geographic situation of S village focused on Ryong(龍, contiguous line of terrestrial stratum), Hull(穴, village location), Sa(砂, geographical feature of surrounding mountains), Su(水, water flow) and Hyang(向), which are Feng-Shui(風水) objects to be observed. According to the result of this research, S Village, which has mountains in the rear and a river in the front, was found to be in fine geographic situation equipped with Sashinsa(四神砂). According to the Feng-Shui theory(風水理論), the village was hang-ju-hyoung(行舟形), which means that people and properties flourish together. A shortcoming of the village was the absence of Ahnsan(案山) to block harmful winds blowing to the fore of the village. In addition, another shortcoming of the village in terms of Feng-Shui(風水) was the large variation of temperature because of its location surrounded by high mountains as if the village was situated inside a bowl. The Hyang(向) of village houses were arranged by the geographical feature and not by Feng-Shui(風水).

  • Soft bending actuators have gained significant interest in robotic applications due to their compliance and lightweight nature. Their compliance allows for safer and more natural interactions with humans or other objects, reducing the risk of injury or damage. However, the nonlinear behaviour of soft actuators presents challenges in accurately predicting their bending motion and force exertion. In this research, a new comprehensive study has been conducted by employing a developed 3D finite element model (FEM) to investigate the effect of geometrical and material parameters on the bending behaviour of a soft pneumatic actuator reinforced with Kevlar fibres. A series of experiments are designed to validate the FE model, and the FE model investigates the improvement of actuator performance. The material used for fabricating the actuator is RTV-2 silicone rubber. In this study, the Cauchy stress was expanded for hyperelastic models and the best model to express the stress-strain behaviour based on ASTM D412 Type C tensile test for this material has been obtained. The results show that the greatest bending angle was achieved for the semi-elliptical actuator made of RTV2 material with a pitch of 1.5 mm and second layer thickness of 1 mm. In comparison, the maximum response force was obtained for the semi-elliptical actuator made of RTV2 material with a pitch of 6 mm and a second layer thickness of 2 mm. Additionally, this research opens up new possibilities for development of safer and more efficient robotic systems that can interact seamlessly with humans and their environment.

  • The appreciation of cultural properties related with what the aspects of society was is mandatory to understand our culture correctly. To make over all cultural properties to our descendants without breakage or damage is our natural duty and national obligation. On the contrary, inhabitants in the preserved area should be restricted and controlled by the cultural property law. The conflict between the inhabitants in the preserved area and the government raises economical problems and damages all the time. Especially it is time to discuss to mediate between them and solve the problems. This feasible study is a proposal to settle them up through renovating abolished school in the preserve area to the museum and a case to preserve the cultual properties as well as habitant's assets in that area.
