연령구조평가모델 하의 MSY 계산에서 Steepness와 자연사망률의 영향 분석 (The Influence of Steepness and Natural Mortality Rate on the MSY Calculation in an Age-structured Model)

  • It is challenging to simultaneously estimate parameters in a stock-recruitment relationship, steepness, and natural mortality rate with the other parameters within an age-structured assessment model even in a data-rich situation. Such a problem leads to uncertainty in estimates of management references such as maximum sustainable yield (MSY), which are affected by those components. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of those parameters on MSY by analyzing the process of estimating the MSY. For illustration, we used two data sets: The chub mackerel Scomber japonicus in the Korean waters and the yellowtail flounder Limanda ferruginea in the Southern New England-Mid Atlantic. As a result, the natural mortality rate influenced spawning stock biomass per recruit, yield per recruit, and MSY, while steepness affected MSY. A sensitivity analysis enabled us to estimate the natural mortality rate and steepness. The optimal set of steepness and natural mortality was 1.0 and 0.37 per year for the chub mackerel, and 0.35, and 0.8 per year for the yellowtail flounder, respectively.

Estimation of mortality coefficients and survivorship curves for minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) in Korean waters

  • Population ecological characteristics of growth and mortality play an important role in understanding the population dynamics of marine mammals. The instantaneous coefficients of natural and bycatch mortality were estimated for minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) in Korean waters using a population assessment model composed of bycatch and abundance data. The survivorship curve of this population was fitted to the data, and then the curve was revised using age-specific relative bycatchability coefficients ($q_t$). Instantaneous coefficients of natural and bycatch mortality of minke whales were estimated as 0.024/year and 0.076/year, respectively, and from this the survival rate was estimated as 0.905. This estimated survival rate was comparable to other cetaceans in other regions. The $q_t$ for this population ranged from 0.020 to 0.193. The revised survival rates were higher when the $q_t$ was taken into account. The mortality coefficient, survival rate, $q_t$ and survivorship curves had not previously been determined for minke whale in this area. This estimate could serve as fundamental information to assess the status of this population and for conservation and rational management.

  • We investigated the population ecology of blackthroat seaperch, Doederleinia berycoides, from samples collected in the southern seas of Korea from January to December, 2006. Population ecological parameters included survival rate, the instantaneous coefficient of natural and fishing mortality, and age at first capture. The survival rate (S) of blackthroat seaperch was estimated as 0.4966 using the catch curve method. The instantaneous coefficient of total mortality (Z) was 0.8598/year. The instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality (M) was estimated as 0.4694/year. From the estimates of Z and M, the instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality (F) was calculated as 0.3904/year. The age at first capture ($t_c$), based on the Pauly method, was 2.87 years.

Genetic and Non-genetic Factors Affecting Mortality in Lori-Bakhtiari Lambs

  • Data and pedigree information for Lori-Bakhtiari sheep used in this study were 6,239 records of lamb mortality from 246 sires and 1,721 dams, collected from 1989 through 2007 from a Lori-Bakhtiari flock at Shooli station in Shahrekord. The traits investigated were cumulative lamb mortality from birth up to 7 days, up to 14 days, up to 21 days, and up to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 months of age. The models included fixed factors that had significant effects and random direct genetic, maternal genetic and maternal permanent environmental effects. Variance components were estimated using the restricted maximum likelihood procedure applying three animal models with and without maternal and common environmental effects. The overall mean of cumulative lamb mortality rate was 22.95% from birth to 1 year of age, while the overall mortality rate up to 3 and from 3 to 6 months of age was 6.14% and 12.76%, respectively. The mortality rate after 6 months of age declined as the lambs grew older. The age of dam had no important effect on lamb mortality. The type of birth was more important during the preweaning period than at later ages, and lamb mortality rate was higher in twins. The year of birth, month of birth and sex of lamb significantly (p${\leq}$0.01) affected the cumulative lamb mortality rate at all ages. The least square mean of mortality during the final one-third of the lambing period was higher than the first and middle onethird of the lambing period. Male lambs were found to be at a higher risk of mortality than females. Birth weight of the lamb had a highly significant (p${\leq}$0.01) effect on lamb mortality at all ages as a quadratic regression. Direct and maternal heritability estimates of lamb mortality ranged from 0.01 to 0.13 and 0.01 to 0.05, respectively. Direct heritability increased with age of lamb, while maternal effects (genetic and common environmental) were important in the preweaning period. These results indicate that lamb mortality can be reduced first through farm management practices and secondly by genetic selection. Both animal and maternal effects should be considered in breeding programmes for reducing lamb mortality at preweaning.

한국 주변해역 참조기의 자원생태학적 특성치 추정 (Estimations on population ecological characteristics of small yellow croaker, Larimichthys polyactis by the drift gillnet fishery in Korean waters)

  • Estimations on population ecological parameters of the small yellow croaker, Larimichthy polyactis in Korean waters, were calculated using catch data based on coastal and offshore drift gillnet fishery and biological data from 2010 to 2012. The population ecological parameters included survival rate, instantaneous coefficient of natural and fishing mortality and age/length at first capture. The survival rate (S) of the small yellow croaker was estimated to be 0.20 from catch curve method. The instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality (M) was estimated to be 0.46/year with Alverson and Carney method. The instantaneous coefficient of total mortality (Z) was 1.611/year, used to be transformed the survival rate and the instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality (F) were 1.153/year. The length at first capture ($L_c$) was 19.1cm by Pauly method, and the age at first capture ($t_c$) was 1.303 years of the small yellow croaker by the coastal and offshore drift gillnet fishery.

말똥성게, Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus(A. Agassiz)의 실내 표지방류 실험 (Laboratory Tagging Experiment of Sea Urchin, Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus (A. Agassiz))

  • 비닐테이프와 trapall지를 사용하여 90미의 말똥성게, Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus (A. Agassiz)에 표지를 부착시켰다. 대조군으로 표지를 부착시키지 않은 말똥성게 45미와 해적으로서 별불가사리 5미를 동시에 수용하여 1984년 6월 28일부터 9월 19일까지 84일간 실험실에서 사육시켰다. 표지부착에 따른 자연사망, 별불가사리에 의한 포식율, 표지탈락율등을 표지군별로 조사하여 대조군과 비교 분석했다. $x^2-test$의 결과 표지군과 대조군의 자연사망율은 높은 유의성이 보이나 두 표지군 사이에서는 유의성이 없었다. 표지부착여부는 해적의 포식율에 영향을 주는것으로 보이지 않으며 표지 탈락율에 대한 두 표지군 사이의 $x^2-test$ 역시 유의성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 표지부착 직후에 일어나는 사망률(type A)은 표지 부착시 성게의 건조를 조심하면 무시될 수 있는것으로 판단된다. 표지부착상태에 따른 모든 사망율 (type B)은 비닐테이프의 경우 $47.4\%$, trapall 지의 경우 $52.6\%$였다. trapall 지는 표지가 가벼운 이점은 있으나 표지 자체가 성게에 의해 섭취될수 있고 표지의 일련번호가 쉽게 소멸될수 있는 점으로 보아 성게류의 표지방류에는 비닐테이프가 적합한 것으로 판단된다.

  • 본 연구는 한국 연근해 갈치의 자원생태학적 특성치인 성장계수와 생잔율, 순간자연 및 어획사망계수, 어획개시연령 및 연령별 성장률을 추정하는 것이다. 갈치의 성장을 나타내는데는 세가지의 성장모델에 적합시켰으며, 이 중 차후의 자원평가연구를 목적으로 von Bertalanffy 성장식을 채택하였다. von Bertalanffy 성장계수는 EXCEL의 Solver를 사용하여 비선형회귀 방법에 의하여 다음과 같이 추정되었다. $L_\infty=46.01cm,\;K=0.3868,\;t_0=-0.3220$. 갈치의 연간생잔율 (S)은 0.277 (분산=0.00035)로 추정되었으며 순간자연사망 계수 (M)는 0.4411년으로 추정되었다. 근년의 순간어획사망계수 (F)는 0.843/년으로서 자연사망보다 어획에 의한 영향이 약 2배나 되고 있음을 암시하였다. 어획개시연령 $(t_c)$은 0.787세로 $50\%$ 성숙연령의다 훨씬 어린 연령이었다 마지막으로 갈치의 연령별 성장률이 추정되었다.

참전복, Haliotis discus hannai 표식개체의 실내사육 및 방류효과 (Effects of Stocking and Laboratory Rearing in Abalone, Haliotis discus hannai by Tagging)

  • 우리나라 연안성에서 가장 중요한 양식대상종의 하나인 참전복의 표식 방류효과에 관한 조사는 보고된 바 없는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 우리 배양장에서 자체 생산된 참전복의 표지 방법별 효과를 검토하고, 방류효과를 구명함으로서 연안 자원의 증강을 도모 하고자 1994년 11월 10일 부터 1995년 3월 30일까지 조사한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 참전복의 표지 및 표시 방법별 효과는 Al-teco에 의한 표지 부착이 가장 좋았다. 2. 실내 사육에 의한 표지의 탈락 및 폐사율은 각각 $6.7\%$$8.3\%$였고, 표지에 의한 폐사는 없었다. 3. 실내 사육 및 방류한 표지 개체는 실험 개시시 각구 공히 평균각장 및 전중량이 1.0 cm, 0.092 g 이던 것이 실험종료시에는 각각 1.80cm, 0.74 g, 1.68 cm, 0.68 g으로 성장하였다. 4. 재포된 모든 개체의 분포 중심 수심은 2.6m 였다. 재포된 모든 개체의 평균 이동 거리는 2.6m 였다. 6. 어획사망계수, 자연사망계수 및 전사망계수의 추정치는 각각 0.0195, 0.4652, 0.4847였다.

Exposure to Triclosan Induces Mortality through Oxidative Stress and DNA Damage in the Java Medaka Oryzias javanicus

  • To understand the detrimental effects of triclosan on Java medaka (Oryzias javanicus) embryos, fertilized embryos were exposed to different concentrations (1, 10, 50, 100, 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1,000 ㎍ l-1) of triclosan until hatching. Then, we examined the survival rate and developmental parameters as well as alterations in antioxidant constituents and DNA damage markers. The results showed dose-dependent mortality, hatching delays, and developmental abnormalities in the embryos. Additionally, there were significant increases in oxidative stress parameters and antioxidant responses, along with elevated DNA damage. These findings suggest that sublethal concentrations of triclosan induce toxic effects through oxidative stress on Java medaka embryos, as evidenced by changes in in vivo parameters and biochemical constituents.

  • 한국 근해 참조기 자원의 양적인 변동에 관련되는 자원 특성치인 개체의 성장식과 개체군의 생잔율, 순간사망계수 및 어획개시연령 등을 추정하였다. 참조기의 연령과 성장 관계는 Gompertz 성장 모델의 선형화 방법에 의한 이론적인 적합도가 가장 높았으나 실용적인 면을 고려하여 von Bertalanffy 성장식의 이용이 권고되었다. 생잔율은 0.219(분산: 0.0000262), 순간자연사망계수는 0.4/년으로 추정되었다. 최근의 순간어획사망계수는 1.11/년으로 추정되어 순간자연사망계수의 약 3배 정도로 높게 나타났다. 어획개시연령은 0.602세로 추정되었다
