An HPLC-ESI-MS method has been developed to identify and quantify two main tetracyclic triterpenes, alisol B 23-acetate and alisol C 23-acetate in the Alismatis Rhizoma (Taeg-Sa). The relative distribution of the two triterpenes in the methanolic extract of commercially available Alismatis Rhizoma was established by selective ion monitoring (SIM) mode via electrospray ionization (ESI) source. Regression equations revealed good linear relationship, and the correlation coefficients were 0.999 and 0.998 for alisol B 23-acetate and alisol C 23-acetate, respectively, between the peak areas of the components and their concentration in a range of $0.06-2.0{\mu}g/mL$. It was found that there were significant differences in the amount of alisol B 23-acetate and alisol C 23-acetate between Korean and Chinese origins. The results showed that this method could be used to identify the two components in Alismatis Rhizoma with high sensitivity and selectivity.
Seven phenolic compounds, scopoletin (1), caffeic acid methyl ester (2), apigenin 7-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnosyl-(1${\rightarrow}$6)-O-${\alpha}$-D-glucoside (3), isorhamnetin 7-O-${\alpha}$-D-glucoside (4), isorhamnetin 3-O-${\alpha}$-D-glucoside (5), luteolin (6), and quercetin 3-methyl ether (7) were isolated from the methanol extract of the flowers of S. excelsus. Their structures were established by chemical and spectroscopic methods. The isolated compounds were tested for their cytotoxicity against four human cancer cell lines in vitro using a SRB method. The compounds 4 and 7 showed moderate cytotoxicity with ED$_{50}$ values ranging from 1.59 to 13.14${\mu}$g/ml.
The chromatographic separation of the MeOH extract of the aerial parts from Aster hispidus (Compositae) led to the isolation of eight compounds. Their structures were established by spectroscopic methods to be ${\beta}-amyrin$ (1), oleanolic acid (2), (2R)-1, 2-O-(9Z, 12Z, $15Z-dioctadecatrienoyl)-3-O-{\beta}-D-galactopyranosyl\;glycerol$ (3), trans-phytol (4), 9, 12, 15-octadecatrienoic acid (5), kaempferol (6), 3,5-dicaffeoyl quinic acid (7), 3,4-dicaffeoyl quinic acid (8) and kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside (9). Compounds 1, $3{\sim}6$ and 9 showed non-specific moderate cytotoxicity against five human tumor cell lines $(5.44{\sim}23.51\;{\mu}g/ml)$. The other compounds were of marginal activity against tested five human cancer cell lines $(9.05{\sim}>30.0\;{\mu}g/ml)$.

Twelve compounds were isolated from the 70% ethanol extract of Lonicera Caulis (Caprifoliaceae) and their structures were identified as six triterpenoids [(24S)-cycloart-25-en-$3{\beta}$,24-diol (1), pomolic acid (7), ursolic acid (8), euscaphic acid (9), hederagenin (10), and 23-hydroxytormentic acid (12)] and six sterols [obtusifoliol (2), gramisterol (3), citrostadienol (4), ${\beta}$-sitosterol (5), ergosterol peroxide (6) and ${\beta}$-sitosterol glucoside (11)]. The chemical structures of these compounds were identified on the basis of spectroscopic methods and comparison with literature values. All the compounds were isolated from this plant parts for the first time.
Purpose In this study, we propose the special purposed R package named ""new_Noun()" to process nonstandard texts appeared in various social networks. As the Big data is getting interested, R - analysis tool and open source software is also getting more attention in many fields. Design/methodology/approach With more than 9,000 R packages, R provides a user-friendly functions of a variety of data mining, social network analysis and simulation functions such as statistical analysis, classification, prediction, clustering and association analysis. Especially, "KoNLP" - natural language processing package for Korean language - has reduced the time and effort of many researchers. However, as the social data increases, the informal expressions of Hangeul (Korean character) such as emoticons, informal terms and symbols make the difficulties increase in natural language processing. Findings In this study, to solve the these difficulties, special algorithms that upgrade existing open source natural language processing package have been researched. By utilizing the "KoNLP" package and analyzing the main functions in noun extracting command, we developed a new integrated noun processing package "new_Noun()" function to extract nouns which improves more than 29.1% compared with existing package.
The smear method developed by Velaskar and Chitre was modified to allow the screening of plant extracts and/or fractions for platelet anti-aggregating activity. The modified smear method was also found suitable for massive screening of pure compounds. Sample fractions prepared from various plant extracts were examined for their effects against ADP, arachidonic acid (AA) or collagen induced platelet aggregations. Several solvent fractions of plant extracts including water fraction prepared from the methanol extract of Acanthopanax sp. was inhibitory against rat platelet aggregations. The activity guided treatments and fractionations of the water fraction from A. senticosus Max yielded two anti-platelet aggregatory substances, 3, 4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (I) and its artefact ethyl 3, 4-dihydroxybenzoate(II). The inhibitory activities of I and II against rat platelet aggregation were compared with that of aspirin, a known inhibitor of platelet aggregation. Discussions also included the results of the investigations on the structural activity relationships among the various dihydroxybenzoic acid derivatives against platelet aggregations induced by either one of ADP, AA or collagen.

Effect of carbon source and culture conditions involved in the concentration of dissolved oxygen on cell growth and the production of pullulan by A. pullulans HP2001 were investigated. Among those carbon sources, glucose was found to be the best carbon source for the production of pullulan by A. pullulans HP2001. Maximal production of pullulan by A. pullulans HP2001 was 26.6 g/ f when concentrations of glucose and yeast extract were 8% (w/v) and 0.25% (w/v), respectively. It was found that aeration rate, agitation speed and inner pressure of a bioreactor, which were some of physiological factors involved in the dissolved oxygen in the medium may affect cell growth and the production of pullulan by A. pullulans HP2001.
Ultrasound assisted extraction (UAE) process enhancement for food and allied industries are reported in this review. Recently ultrasound system has been used more frequently to extract drugs and natural substances. This modern emulsification, homogenization, particle size reduction and viscosity alteration methodologies require reliable tools that perform on a high level in terms of efficiency and reproducibility. Also, Ultrasound can enhance existing extraction processes and enable new commercial extraction opportunities and processes. Therefore, ultrasound technologies could have a strong presence in the future of the food industry.
