This study was aimed at analyzing how the dualism of hippie style in the modern retro-fashion, namely, the neo hippie style and the hippie chic style were expressed. For this study, domestic & foreign fashion magazines, preceding theses, literatures, an encyclopedia, and Internet sites were reviewed. The results of this study could be summarized as follows; 1. Silhouette : The neo hippie style was expressed in slim and long silhouette to show the natural beauty. The hippie chic style was expressed in various silhouettes depending on designer's tastes. 2. Color : The neo hippie style was expressed in strong color and analogous color coordination to show richness of human nature. The hippie chic style was expressed in psychedelic color, multi-color, and fluorescent color to show an unconventional and a future oriented idea. 3. Material . The neo hippie style used such soft, thin, and flexible materials as chiffon, satin, silk, knit, etc. to show the natural beauty The hippie chic style used expensive and luxurious materials, high-technological materials, harmony of different materials, etc. 4. Pattern . In the neo hippie style, it was generally used various patterns including plant, animal, insect. In the hippie chic style, it was widely used the natural pattern as well as the ethnic pattern. The neo hippie style was characterized by the natural beauty, purity, elegance as style symbolizing the social problem, on the other hand, the hippie chic style was characterized by designer's identity suggesting an idea of new style rather than a symbol of the social problem.

In this paper, we proposed a method for face region extraction by skin-color hue, saturation and facial feature extraction in natural images. The proposed algorithm is composed of lighting correction and face detection process. In the lighting correction step, performing correction function for a lighting change. The face detection process extracts the area of skin color by calculating Euclidian distances to the input images using as characteristic vectors color and chroma in 20 skin color sample images. Eye detection using C element in the CMY color model and mouth detection using Q element in the YIQ color model for extracted candidate areas. Face area detected based on human face knowledge for extracted candidate areas. When an experiment was conducted with 10 natural images of face as input images, the method showed a face detection rate of 100%.
This study was performed in order to suggest useful data for color planning of eco-friendly and sensible fashion products. Silk fabrics were dyed in combination with natural indigo and Japanese pagoda tree and were treated with four kinds of mordants after combination dyeing. Then, their colorimetric properties were evaluated. From these composite-dyed silk fabrics, color sensibilities and color preferences of green yellow (GY) color were evaluated among the female university students, and thus, the influences of colorimetric properties and color sensibilities on color preferences were analyzed. When the silk fabrics were dyed in the combination of natural indigo and Japanese pagoda tree and were treated without mordants, they turned green color when indigo 10 g/L was used, and blue-green when indigo 20 g/L was added. And when they were dyed in combination of natural indigo and Japanese pagoda tree and were treated with four kind of mordants after combination dyeing, they turned GY color in almost all cases. The color sensibilities of the GY silk fabrics with the combination dyeing of indigo and Japanese pagoda tree, were classified into three factors: pleasantness, gracefulness, and comfort. Color sensibility factors showed significant differences according to the concentration of indigo and the kinds of mordants. There were almost significant relationships between colorimetric properties and color sensibilities factors of compositely dyed GY silk fabrics. The color preferences of the GY fabrics, which were dyed in the combination of using natural indigo and Japanese pagoda tree and four kinds of mordants, were found to be predicted by the color sensibility in a regression model.
When wood is exposed to natural weathering and UV radiation discoloration progresses. The color variation of heat-treated wood was investigated. Four domestic species were selected and heat-treated at $220^{\circ}C$ and naturally weathered for 42 days. Their colors were measured with a portable colorimeter. The color variations were different between species. The Korean red pine specimens were highly discolored by the natural weathering even though they were heat-treated. In contrast to Korean red pine, Korean pine is less discolored. The maximum color difference of larch was lower than Korean red pine. All specimens of birch exceeded the color difference criterion of 15 after 25 hours with the maximum of 28.

Recently, as development of the luminaire industry, many people are interest of the outdoor and indoor lighting environment. Also, as increasing of people activity at night, the role of lighting is more important. In these days, the issue of LEDs lighting environment is using loud colors of LEDs which are the most of primary colors (R, G, B). It is often disliked by same people. Therefore, it is necessary to use of natural color in lighting design using LEDs. The colors of the LEDs are composed of combination of R, G, B diodes. This paper performs to investigate preference of various colors and color patterns of LEDs. The purposes of this study are to suggest standardization and natural colors instead of primary colors using LEDs.

Silk fabrics were dyed with yellow natural materials. Gardenia, turmeric, amur cork tree, safflower, Japanese pagoda tree, and onion were used as natural materials. Color image of natural dyed silk fabrics was classified by 4 factors(Cheerfulness, Comfortness, Pastrol, Revealation). Cheerfulness factor affected significantly with color image. Amur cork tree or turmeric dyed fabrics were shown as light and cute, safflower or gardenia dyed fabric shown as comfort, and onion dyed fabrics shown as mature and simple. Color image with specialty was significant difference in Preference and Revelation factor. Preference was appeared as amur cork tree>turmeric>gardenia>safflower>Japanese pagoda tree>onion.

The representation of color with natural dyes is closely related with the modern well-being life. This study is focused on the representation of target color of the blue, yellow, and red color system, these color sources were originated from the green tea, gardenia, and black rice respectively. The quantitative numerical value of brightness (L), color coordinates (a, b) were designated for the target color, the optimum color nearest to the target value was extracted with the solvent pH, temperature, and extraction time. The longer the extraction time had more thickening color in case of the gardenia. The L-a-b coordinate of extracted color were analyzed with the color difference meter and compared with the target color. The experimental variables were optimized to extract the color of the smallest ${\Delta}E$ with the target color. As a result, the CIE standard value was proposed and the color was represented.
In order to replance systhetic colors by natural colors as food additive, properties of Gardenia yellow color and Gardenia blue color were compared with Food yellow No. 4 and Food blue No. 1. Color differeance between Food yellow No. 4 and Gardenia yellow color was 7.55. Thermal stability of Food yellow No. 4 was above 99%. On the other hand, in case of Gardenia yellow color, showed adove 90% of residual color units in 8$0^{\circ}C$$\times$30min and 10$0^{\circ}C$$\times$30min at pH 7.0 but 75% in 121$^{\circ}C$$\times$15min. Difference of light stability between Food yellow No. 4 and gardenia yellow color was about 18%. Addition of ascorbic acid was increased about 6% in light stability. Color difference between Food blue No. 2 and Gardenia blue color was 107. Thermal stability of Food blue No. 2 was above 99%. But Gardenia blue color showed 92% of residual color units in 8$0^{\circ}C$$\times$30min and 10$0^{\circ}C$$\times$30min at pH 7.0 but 90% in 121$^{\circ}C$$\times$15min. Difference of light stability between Food blue No. 4 and Gardenia blue color was about 8%. Addition of -tocopherol was increased about 4% in light stability of Gardenia blue color.

This study was performed to investigate the effect of mordants on the dyeability colorfastness to light and to laundering and biological properties of mordanted and natural-dyed cotton and silk substrates. Natural red dyes were extracted from Caesalpinia Sappan L. (Sappan wood) and Rubia Akane Nakai (Madder) by boil water Five different compounds of Al, Cr, Cu, Fe and Sn were used as mordanting agents. The result of this study are sumarized as follows ; 1. In the of the fabrics mordanted and dyed with sappan wood K/S value increases and λmax shifts to the longer wavelength as mordant concentration increases. Color of the fabrics dyed with sappan wood and madder change to redder bluer and lighter after mordanting. 2. As the number of repetition of dyeing-mordnating process increase the color of the dyed fabrics tend to be redder bluer and darker. Mordanted dyes with Al and Sn make chroma increase. The quantity of mordant absorbed in the silk fabric increase as mordant concentration increase. More Fe is absorbed in silk than Cr is. 3. After being exposed to light the fabrics dyed with sappan wood and madder change to less red Fe and Cu mordanting yeild better colorfastness to light than others does. Natural-dyed fabrics exposed to light tend to be faded and whitened in CIELAB chromaticity co-ordinates. So we might trace back the original color of ancient faded fabrics by changes in color of natural dyes. 4. After washing the colors of natural dyes change to more blue, Fe and Cu mordanting give better colorfastness to wash than others do. 5. The soil-burial cotton is more susceptible to mildew and rot than the silk is. Antimicrobial activity of the natural-dyed cotton can be enhanced by Cu and silk can be enhanced by Cu and Cr mordanting respectively.

The color enhancement for natural Zambian amethyst of low quality was carried out by the hydrothermal treatment method. The hydrothermal treatment conditions were as follows: reaction temperature; $300^{\circ}C$, duration; 30 hrs, filling; 40%, solvent; 6 M-HCI solution. The reddish purple amethyst of high quality was obtained under these conditions. From the result of ICP/AES, it was known that color enhancement was affected by a Fe elemental content to exist in the inside of natural Zambian amethyst. Also, from the result of UY-VIS-NIR, it was shown that the absorption peak at 550 nm after hydrothermal treatment is slightly lower than those of non-treated natural Zambian amethyst. In this study, it was known that hydrothermal treatment method was a way to suitable for increase of commercial value of natural Zambian amethyst.
