  • Finland, the small Nordic country, far from anywhere, just happens to be one of the most modern and technologically advanced nations in the world. It is also the home of several leading global brands in their fields. Among these belong for example Nokia, Kone Elevators, and Metso Paper. This strange, cold country with its by reputation reserved and introvert Arctic people, manages to operate smoothly in the global village; in business, technology and also world politics. People from all over the world want go to Finland to study and work, knowing a lot about the clean, green, spacious country with extensive social security, equal women and general well-being.

  • Mureung Valley was designed as a place of scenic beauty. It was called a utopia because of its unexplored regions. Many people traveled to this place and wrote poetry and prose describing it. It represented a culturally historic site and an example of the changing of cultural spaces. Mureung Valley was one of the nameless valleys in Duta Mountain, but "Mureunggye" was named by Kim Hyon Won, who was a governor of Samcheok.. The valley acquired a reputation for many people's visiting. It was a famous space because local residents liked the place, and famous people also loved the place. This place was adapted into a cultural place with a link to the immortal world and an educational place by people's travel stories. The place maintained a reputation until now and took center stage as a famous travel space. One of the reasons it became a place of famous scenic beauty is travel. People who travel to Mureung Valley created poetry and prose containing their excitement and travel stories. As the poetry and prose had esthetic images of Mureung Valley, people understood the place. The poetry and prose showed the meaning of the place and the changing process. These codified the reputation in the place. Mureung Valley was pointed out in one of the Cheokju-Palkyoungs. However, Mugye-Palkyoung (only for Mureung Valley) was made. It was understood as the most beautiful scenery in the place and it had the meaning of the ethics place which embodied Neo Confucianism. Mureung Valley has a great natural landscape and cultural history background. That is how this place of scenic beauty was created.

  • Due to strong wind of smartphone, change in human life is facing 21 Century's new revolution. The end of 2012, The record rate of supply of smartphone is up to 58.8 percent. So the reputation of IT power are continuing. Korea is boasting IT infrastructure, and the reputation of IT power with rapidly evolving. But Korea is one of OECD country with the longest working hours and in labor productivity, yet is located in the lower rank. Now, common social issues such as low-carbon, green growth, low birthrate, graying, labor productivity growth, the reduce greenhouse gas is constantly increasing in worldwide. So Smart Work is getting attention as a way to resolve this. In this paper, we study the impact of small business on local economy and the status information of small business on statistical point of view. And we offer the smart work countermeasures of small business through detailed action elements and the model proposed fot driving factor for the promotion of smart work. Through this, we propose the IT system model for The SMEs-type smart work system.

  • Twenty-seven medicinal plants were selected on the basis of folkloric reputation for the treatment of hypertension or related deseases. Two solvent fractions were prepared from methanol extract of each plant and tested for their effects on angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. Six solvent fractions showed more than 50% inhibition and four showed $40{\sim}50%$ inhibition at the conditions tested.

  • 개인 컴퓨터의 보급과 중앙집중식 처리의 한계로 인해 P2P 기술에 대한 관심이 부각됨에 따라 피어들에 대한 평판을 관리하는 방법들이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 피어들의 평가와 더불어 피어가 포함하는 아이템들에 대한 평가를 위한 모델을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 P2P 환경에서 아이템 공유를 위한 평판 관리 기법 과 악의 피어 검출 방법으로 구성된다. 제안하는 기법은 아이템을 공유하는 피어들 간에 악의 피어에 대한 정보를 상호 교환하여 악의 피어 검출의 정확성을 향상시킨다.

  • 최근 여론조사 분야에서 빅데이터 분석 기법이 널리 활용되고 있다. 기업에서는 최근 출시된 제품에 대한 선호도를 조사하기 위해 기존의 설문조사나 전문가의 의견을 단순 취합하는 것이 아니라, 온라인상에 존재하는 다양한 종류의 데이터를 수집하고 분석하여 제품에 대한 대중의 기호를 정확히 파악할 수 있는 방안이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 빅데이터로부터 제품의 평판을 자동으로 찾아내는 텍스트 마이닝 방안을 제안하고, 소나타 자동차를 중심으로 제안 방안의 효율성을 평가하고 실험 결과를 자세히 분석한다.

  • P2P 시스템은 피어들간의 자발적인 협력에 의해 구성되고 동작한다. 피어들이 파일 공유 시스템에 활발하게 참여하면 공유 파일 수의 증가로 서비스 향상을 가져올 수 있다. 그러나 일부 피어는 자신의 파일을 전혀 공유하지 않고 필요한 파일의 다운로드만 수행한다. 피어의 이와 같은 '무임승차(free riding)'은 다른 피어의 활발한 참여를 감소시키고 P2P 시스템의 서비스를 저하시킨다. 이에 본 논문에서는 파일 공유 시스템에서 피어의 행동을 참조하여 기여도를 계산하고 인센티브를 할당하는 인센티브 메커니즘을 제안하였다. 제안 메커니즘은 피어의 기여도에 따라 대역폭을 인센티브로 할당하여 차별화된 서비스를 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 실험을 통해 인센티브 메커니즘에서 신뢰 피어의 필요성과 피어의 기여도에 따라 서비스가 차별화되는 것을 확인하였다.

  • P2P 파일 공유 시스템에서 서비스를 이용하는 모든 사용자들은 동등한 권한으로 자유롭게 여러 사용자들의 공유 파일을 이용할 수 있기 때문에, 자신의 파일에 대한 공유 없이 다른 사용자들의 공유 파일을 다운로드만 하는 "free riding" 문제가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 기존 P2P 서비스에 "평판" 정보를 적용하여 피어의 서비스 기여도를 고려함으로써 "free riding" 문제를 해결할 수 있는 새로운 P2P 파일 공유 서비스를 제안한다.

Will Middle-Aged Korean Women Buy Jeans Again?

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate jean consumption among middle-aged Korean women and the characteristics of consumers as potential jean consumers. The data were collected from the survey of 238 Korean women aged 45 to 64 years old. The respondents prefer outlet store to other retail outlets and wear jeans mainly for travel, grocery shopping, and outing. The main reason for not wearing jeans is body change, which leads to poor fit in abdomen and waist area. The sample was clustered into two groups based on interest in jeans: high-interest and low-interest group. From the examination of group differences, the high-interest group rated conformity/brand reputation, scarcity, and attractiveness of appearance significantly higher compared to the low-interest group among the five clothing benefits pursued. No difference was found in obesity and body satisfaction. Group differences were found in recent purchase, price, number of jeans owned, and frequency of wearing jeans. The results suggest the characteristics of the potential jean market among middle-aged women in Korea. Implications are discussed.

Evaluation of the Department of Neurosurgery of the Seoul National University Hospital

  • The Department of Neurosurgery (DNS) of the Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH), belongs to the largest and oldest such institutions in Korea. Because of its growing reputation it is hardly surprising that the DNS draws visitor and scholars for clinical education and academic exchange from far beyond Korea. I myself visited the SNUH in February and March 2013. During this time I composed this evaluation in which I compare the DNS to my home Department at the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz/Germany, as well as the situation of Neurosurgery in Korea and Germany in general. In the first part this evaluation summarizes data concerning equipment, staff and organizational structure, as well as educational and scientific issues of the DNS. In the second part some issues of interest are discussed in special regard to the corresponding practices in Germany.
