The domestic and foreign seismic design codes have specified that time history covers design response spectrum when the response spectrum, which calculated from the time history, is smaller than the design response spectrum at five points or less. In order to verify the design codes, time history analysis for a pier was performed by using five artificial time histories conforming design code with various characteristics and its member forces were evaluated according to them. It was confirmed from analysis results that, regardless of the conformity to design code requirement, seismic design using the artificial time histories could not guarantee earthquake resistant design if the response spectrum from them is lower than design response spectrum at the similar period to the natural frequency of structure. Thus, the time history generating method to make its acceleration response spectrum to be greater than design response spectrum at all period was proposed by two modification function in this study. It was also verified whether time histories from the proposed method satisfy the seismic design codes or not.

Branch prediction accuracy is critical for the overall system performance. Branch miss-prediction penalty is the one of the significant performance limiters for improving processor performance, as the pipeline deepens and the instruction issued per cycle increases. In this paper, we propose "Dynamic Per-Branch History Length Fitting Method" by tracking the data dependencies among the register writing instructions. The proposed solution first identifies the key branches, and then it selectively uses the histories of the key branches. To support this mechanism, we provide a history length adjustment algorithm and a required hardware module. As the result of simulation, the proposed mechanism outperforms the previous fixed static method, up to 5.96% in prediction accuracy. Furthermore, our method introduces the performance improvement, compared to the profiled results which are generally considered as the optimal ones.

The objective of this article is to investigate the medical records written in Seungjeongwon Ilgi ("承政院日記") about Heebin Jang (張禧嬪), who was the mother of King Kyeongjong. She was one of the royal concubines of King Sukjong and later became the queen and then was demoted back to the concubine. The method to do this study was to search the records of Seungjeongwon Ilgi ("承政院日記") from Sukjong 15th year (A.D. 1689) to 20th year (A.D. 1694) on the website databased and serviced by National Institute of Korean History. The results were as follows. According to the website search, Heebin Jang (張禧嬪) suffered from three kinds of diseases. The first was a mastitis right after her delivery. The second was an abscess on the back of her head. The third was a relapse of phlegmturbidity and heat, which was her chronic disease. Also, three features could be found regarding characteristics of Royal medicine. The first was how the queens were taken care of before and after their delivery. The second was who lanced the queen's abscess. The third was how the Royal medicine and people's medicine interchanged.

This study analyzes upper arm as the part of suspension through the structural analyses of fatigue. Maximum displacement is shown at the knuckle joint connected with the bracket of automotive body. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. Maximum life at 'Sample history' or 'SAE transmission' can be shown with 60 or 3.5 times more than 'SAE bracket history' respectively. In case of 'Sample history' with the average stress of $-4{\times}10^4$ to $4{\times}10^4$ MPa and the amplitude stress 0 to $8{\times}10^4$ MPa, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 3%. This stress state can be shown with 5 or 6 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE Bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. This study result is applied with the design of upper arm and it can be useful at predicting prevention and durability against its damage.

'The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Chosun Dynasty' is a record created in Seung-jeong-won, a secretariat for kings of Chosun, and is a government record which holds conversations between kings and their vassals as it is. General affairs in terms of the royal family and national administration are recorded, but what is more important is the records on diseases of kings and how they were treated. This study is to look into diseases from which King Injo(1959-1649) had suffered based on the records written during the time of his reign, which was from 1623 to 1649. Also, the "curse incident" and the death of prince Sohyeon, son of King Injo, both of which had significant influence on the health of the king, were reviewed in relation to the disease records.

EduGame is suitable to create interesting and self-directed education environment. This paper develops edugame applicable to learning of History centered on Goguryeo history in elementary school. It is named to 'Bukbeol'. The main theme is that we must let elementary students to have a correct understanding about Goguryeo history. It is time to consider that China distorts Goguryeo history. To implement this game we have to consider the interesting elements in contexts and technology in order to overcome the formal combination of education and amusement. Bukbeol is developed with RPG making 2003(RPGツワ一ル2003) made by Enterbrain company in Japan. And this edugame is applied to students to investigate the degree of satisfaction. Results show the possibility for the study of history and necessity of graphic interface.

We present the physical and environmental properties of nearby dwarf elliptical-like galaxies. The present sample consists of ~ 1,100 dwarf elliptical-like galaxies within redshifts 0.01. The morphological types of the present study were determined by Ann, Seo, and Ha (2015) who classified the dwarf elliptical-like galaxies by the five subtypes of dS0, dE, dSph, dEbc, and dEblue. We examine their star formation history using STARLIGHT. The star formation history of dwarf elliptical-like galaxies depends on their subtypes. The luminosities of dS0, dE, and dSph galaxies are dominated by the extremely old stars (${\geq}10^{10}yr$) with $z{\approx}0.0004$ while those of dEbc and dEblue galaxies are mainly due to the young (${\sim}10^7yr$) stars together with the nearly equal contribution by extremely young stars (${\sim}10^6yr$) and old (${\sim}10^9yr$) stars. Young populations have a variety of metallicity, from z=0.0001 to z = 0.04, while old populations have metallicity of z = 0.0001 and z = 0.0004. While the formation history of stars older than ~1010yr depends mainly on the luminosity of galaxies, the formation history of stars younger than ~108yr is mainly affected by their environment. However, luminosity and environment are equally important for the star formation history if there is no star formation at the early phase of galaxy formation.

As the first of Philip Roth's recent series of novels that delve into American Cold War history deeply entwined with the post-war Jewish American experience, American Pastoral traces the tragic fall of a third-generation Jewish American named Seymour "Swede" Levov, whose dream of complete assimilation to the post-ethnic American paradise is irrecoverably disrupted when his young daughter blows up the local post office to protest against the Vietnam War. This essay proposes to examine Swede Levov's interrupted pursuit of the American dream by locating it within specific Cold War contexts and national imaginaries propagated particularly during the years from John F. Kennedy to Lyndon B. Johnson. In so doing, I will argue that Roth presents a paradoxical vision of Jewish American identity that could be acquired by performing perpetual self-effacement and submergence into the non-place of anonymity and doubleness, a mythic location of the post-ethnic Cold War American family. Levov's life becomes true part of the mythic narrative of American history when he realizes that his life, just like the nation's history, is a series of temporalities radically discontinued without any manageable detour ot divine bypass to cross over. Rather than indicating Roth's retraction from the postmodern understanding of subjectivity, the novel's historical realism, I will argue, serves to illuminate the postmodern conditions of American Cold War history and ethnic identity.

Maxillary sinus infection following Le Fort I osteotomy is rare in patients without a history of preexisting nasal symptoms. A case of a 19-year-old male patient who suffered from preoperative chronic non-allergic rhinitis and developed repetitive postoperative maxillary sinus infection after Le Fort I osteotomy is reported.
