Purpose: This study was conducted to survey children's health status and need of customized visiting health care services in one province. Methods: The participants in this study were 237 caregivers of infants and preschoolers. Data were collected at the participant's home or public health center. Results: Many of the children did not receive developmental screening tests or dental examinations. In the beneficiary group, the prenatal checkup rate and children's vaccination rate were lower, and caregivers had more health problems than the other groups. On the assessment of home safety, unsafe conditions were more frequently found in the beneficiary group. The caregivers in the beneficiary group showed lower child rearing confidence than the other groups, and wanted customized visiting health care services most in the areas of developmental screening, regular health check-up and counseling, nutritional supplementation, and oral health care. Conclusion: These results indicate that it is necessary for children and parents in poverty to be provided with professional home visiting interventions for the promotion of child health and prevention of developmental problems and diseases. These findings can be used for developing future customized visiting health care service programs for infants and children in this community area.

Purpose: This study utilizes big data from the 8th (2021) National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to determine first, the relationship between chewing discomfort in the elderly and some systemic diseases and second, whether oral diseases and oral health problems are related to systemic diseases. Since this may have an impact, we aim to provide basic data to facilitate the expansion and emphasize the importance of integrated health management education. Methods: Original data from the 8th (2021) National Health and Nutrition Survey, conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, were analyzed using SPSS Version 21.0 (IBM). A complex sample frequency analysis was conducted to confirm the general and health-related characteristics of the study subjects, and a complex sample cross-analysis was conducted to determine chewing discomfort according to both general and health-related characteristics. Complex sample multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the effect on chewing discomfort. Results: In order to analyze the factors that affect chewing discomfort, the general characteristics that showed significant differences in chewing discomfort were adjusted for age, personal income, education level, basic livelihood security, high blood pressure, subjective health status, and subjective oral health. It was found that the condition had a statistically significant effect on chewing discomfort. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrate that high blood pressure, subjective health status, and subjective oral health status affect chewing discomfort; hence, measures such as developing and operating programs to improve national oral health are needed. We hope that our study will be used as basic data for research into chewing discomfort and systemic diseases in the elderly.
Background: People with disabilities have higher prevalence rates and earlier onset of chronic disease than the non-disabled; therefore, their participation in health screening is important. This study evaluates the participation rate and trends in health screening of people with disabilities, and examines the association between their participation rate and disability characteristics, and socioeconomic status. Methods: Data on disability-related characteristics were collected from the National Disability Registry, and participants' corresponding health examination data were taken from the Korean National Health Insurance Corporation between 2002 and 2011. A total of 873,819 participants aged ${\geq}20$ years were analyzed in this study. Results: The rate of participation of people with disabilities in health screening has increased each year, but their participation rate is lower than that of the total population. The participation rate was lower in females than in males; the elderly group than in the younger group; those who live in city areas than rural areas; self-employed for health insurance than employees; those with an internal organ disability than those with an external physical disability; those with a severe disability than those with a mild disability; and those with a short-term disability than for those with a long-term disability. Conclusion: The factors associated with participation rate are age, sex, socioeconomic status, and disability characteristics. These findings indicate that health check-ups of people with disabilities should be promoted using an approach that takes into account the large individual differences in socioeconomic status and disability characteristics in this population.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the health behavior and prevalence of chronic diseases among manufacturing workers. It would provide fundamental data in the development of health promotion programs for manufacturing workers. Methods : Data on 3,171 employees who underwent health check-ups by the National Health Insurance Service in L company, G City from March to December 2014 were analyzed. The statistical analysis of frequency, chi-square test, and multiple logistic regressions were performed using SPSS 18 program. Results : The results of this study show that obesity and over-weight are the health behaviors that influence the prevalence of chronic diseases in manufacturing employees. Conclusions : The implementation of public health projects to improve the voluntary participation of the employees can enhance their health, improve the productivity, and influence their quality of life positively by changing the health behaviors.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to identify significant paths that affect the life satisfaction of male baby boomers. Methods : Thus, 1,784 male baby boomers born between 1955 and 1963 were selected, among a total of 22,276 male baby boomers in the Gyungbuk region, who had participated in the 2011 Community Health Survey. Results : Through a path analysis, the following factors that affect life satisfaction were revealed in descending order: mental health (p<.001), income level (p<.001), educational level (p<.001), social support (p<.001), health promotion activities (p<.001), and physical illness (p<.001). The explanatory power of the variables for quality of life was 21%. Among the variables, mental health had the biggest impact. Conclusions : The findings indicate that increasing the life satisfaction of male baby boomers requires the following: alleviating their anxiety over retirement income by improving their welfare at a national level; creating an environment that can enhance their mental health and health promotion activities, and providing health education and health promotion programs to change their perceptions.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze factors associated with depression among workers in South Korea by socio-economic factors, health behaviors, and working conditions. Methods: Study subjects include 4,251 adults (19 and older) who are currently working using the data from 2009 National Health and Nutrition Survey. Data were analyzed using frequency test, $X^2$ test, and multiple logistic regression. Results: Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that gender (OR=1.91, p<.001), age (OR=1.53, p=.030), marital status (31-39: OR=1.88, p=.029) were significantly related to depressing among socio-economic factors. Next, among health behaviors factors, perceived health status (Poor: OR=1.76, p=.049; Very poor: OR=3.46, p=.002) was statistically significant. Among characteristics of work environment, trust and respect (OR=1.34, p=.049) and working with hidden emotion (OR=1.88, p<.001) were significantly related to depression. Conclusions: In order to manage and reduce depression among workers, it is important to develop appropriate mental health promotion programs both in work places and in regulations.
Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to examine an obesity control program using dietary consult and physical exercise among middle-aged obese women in a health center. Method: This study used a pretest-posttest design. The subjects were 63 middle-aged women with over BMI $25(kg/m^2)$ or %BF 28 who participated in the obesity control program for 12 weeks. Results: After the program for 12 weeks, BMI(p= .02) and TC(p= .00) decreased significantly compared with those before the program. Conclusion: Obesity control programs in health centers can decrease the degree of obesity in middle-aged obese women. Therefore health centers should develop strategies for their members' continuous participation in such an obesity control program.
Objectives: This study aimed to validate the moderating effect of oral health on the relationship between perceived health status and health-related quality of life in the elderly and to use this information as primary data to suggest oral health policies for the aged society. Methods: This study included 3,707 subjects aged over 65 years who answered all the variables used in the study model and completed the health questionnaire and screening survey based on the sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Baron & Kenny's linear regression analysis using SPSS 22.0 and SPSS Macro Version 3.1 programs was performed to confirm the moderating effect of the number of remaining natural teeth, chewing difficulty, and cardiovascular disease on the relationship between perceived health status and healthrelated quality of life in the elderly. Results: The number of remaining natural teeth, chewing difficulties, and cardiovascular diseases affected the perceived health status of the elderly. As the number of remaining natural teeth increased, the effect of perceived health status on the quality of life in the elderly was buffered. The effect of perceived health status on the quality of life increased with chewing difficulties and the number of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it was confirmed that chewing difficulties, rather than the number of cardiovascular diseases. had a greater effect on the quality of life in the elderly. Conclusions: Oral health policies and projects are required to ensure oral rehabilitation with dentures and implants and restore chewing function to improve the quality of life of the elderly in Korea.

The study was conducted to analyze employees' and employers' awareness of occupational health programs for the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness of the program employed in small-scale enterprises (SSE). The 400 SSE that have under 50 employees and have been supported by the Government were selected for mail survey, and 120 employers and 318 employees of 183 factories returned the questionnaires. The results are as follows; 1) 33.8% of employees were not aware of the fact that their factories have been supported by Government, and 69.1% of employees did not know who was the monitor of that program. Only 147% of employees and 35.5% of employers agreed that the supported program reflected their opinions well. 2) 45.1% of employees participated in health education classes more than once. But only 15.6% of them considered the classes as very helpful. 21.1% of employers were much aware of health education schedule, and 44.2% reported that it was helpful for the prevention of occupational diseases. 3) 68.8% of employers were aware of the possibility of occupational diseases that could occur in their factories. And 36.5% of employers reported that some criteria were used for job reallocation to their employees. But only 9.7% of employees were assigned new job based on the result of health status examination. 4) 65.6% of employees were aware of the periodic evaluation for work environment, and 43.3% knew the evaluation results. Among participated SSE, 5.9% have a planning department for improving work environment, and 46.2% actually carried out the program for improving work environment. The findings showed that the employers and employees of SSE had insufficient knowledge of the occupational health program that have been employed in their workplace. It is essential to lead more active participation of employers and employees in their occupational health programs so as that the programs are to improve their health status as well as work environment more effectively.
