Deep-learning-based system-scale diagnosis of a nuclear power plant with multiple infrared cameras

  • Comprehensive condition monitoring of large industry systems such as nuclear power plants (NPPs) is essential for safety and maintenance. In this study, we developed novel system-scale diagnostic technology based on deep-learning and IR thermography that can efficiently and cost-effectively classify system conditions using compact Raspberry Pi and IR sensors. This diagnostic technology can identify the presence of an abnormality or accident in whole system, and when an accident occurs, the type of accident and the location of the abnormality can be identified in real-time. For technology development, the experiment for the thermal image measurement and performance validation of major components at each accident condition of NPPs was conducted using a thermal-hydraulic integral effect test facility with compact infrared sensor modules. These thermal images were used for training of deep-learning model, convolutional neural networks (CNN), which is effective for image processing. As a result, a proposed novel diagnostic was developed that can perform diagnosis of components, whole system and accident classification using thermal images. The optimal model was derived based on the modern CNN model and performed prompt and accurate condition monitoring of component and whole system diagnosis, and accident classification. This diagnostic technology is expected to be applied to comprehensive condition monitoring of nuclear power plants for safety.

공동주택단지 커뮤니티 시설 모델제안 연구 (A Study on the Suggestion of Community Facilities Model in Multi-Family Housing Complexes)

  • 주도적 주거유형이 공동주택단지로 자리잡아가며 현대사회에서 주거환경에 따른 커뮤니티의 문제가 중요한 이슈로 자리 잡고 있다. 그리고 이는 전통적 공동체의 붕괴와 이로 인한 사회적 문제의 양산으로 나타나기 시작한지 오래이다. 공동주택단지내 커뮤니티의 활성화를 위하여 다양한 논의가 지속되어 왔으며, 본 연구에서는 이를 위해 서울, 수도권, 지방대도시의 공동주택단지를 조사 분석하여 커뮤니티 시설의 모델을 제안하고자 하는 설계형 연구로서 도출한 결론은 다음과 같다. 공동주택 관련 법규에서 규정하고 있는 커뮤니티 시설 기준에 견주어 프로그램의 다양성에 있어서는 한계를 갖고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 이는 점차 여가의 질의 향상을 기대하는 거주민의 만족도를 충족시키는데 한계로 나타나고 있으며, 물리적인 시설환경을 중심으로 기준화하고 있는 시설기준은 점차 질에 있어서의 요구가 증대하고 있는 가주민의 만족도를 높이는데 한계가 있으며, 이를 위해서는 시설기준의 다양성을 고려하는 접근이 선행되어야 할 것이다. 공동주택의 외부공간 이용성이 증대되고 있는 오늘날 커뮤니티시설의 지하공간을 활용하며, 건축적 요소를 통해 환경성을 확보하는 방안이 고려될 수 있으며, 이는 커뮤니티시설의 내·외부 공간의 이용성을 높이는데 장점을 갖는다.

조선시대 녹각성과 수중목책의 조성 및 활용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Creation and Use of Nokgakseong and Underwater Wooden Fence)

  • 청동기시대(靑銅器時代)부터 나타나기 시작하여 인류역사상 가장 오래된 방어시설로 추정되고 있는 목책(木柵)은 조선시대 임진왜란(壬辰倭亂) 이후까지 군사적인 방어기능을 더욱 강화하기 위한 목적으로 성(城)이나 병영(兵營) 외부에 설치되는 성책(城柵), 영책(營柵)의 개념으로 정립되면서 방어를 위한 필수시설로서 중요성이 더욱 부각되었다. 본 연구는 『조선왕조실록(朝鮮王朝實錄)』, 『신증동국여지승람(新增東國輿地勝覽)』 등 문헌조사를 중심으로 조선시대 관방시설로 이용되었던 목책을 연구한 결과로, 녹각성(鹿角城)과 수중목책(水中木柵)의 용도와 기능 그리고 설치 방법 그리고 목책의 소재 등을 집중적으로 고찰하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여말선초 외적의 침략이 빈번해짐에 따라 목책은 주요 성외 방어시설(防禦施設)로써 큰 역할을 담당하게 되었다. 또한, 목책은 당시의 시대적 상황이나 관방정책, 입지 환경에 따라 목책성, 녹각성 그리고 수중목책 등 다양한 유형으로 변용(變容)되어 설치되었다. 둘째, 목책은 요충지(要衝地)의 산성(山城)이나 영(營), 진(鎭), 보(堡), 성(城) 등 군사적 목적의 관방시설(關防施設)에 설치되었으며, 유사시 방어의 시급성에 따라 농번기(農繁期)를 피해 인력의 동원이 수월한 농한기(農閑期)에 맞춰 설치되었다. 문헌 기록을 통해 확인되는 조선시대 목책의 규모는 포백척(布帛尺)으로 환산한 결과 그 둘레가 4,428척(2,066m)부터 55척(25m)까지 매우 다양한 규모였다. 또한, 목책의 재료는 소나무와 참나무류가 주로 사용되었다. 셋째, 녹각성은 일반적인 목책보다 공격성을 겸비한 효율적인 전투 지원시설로, 『조선왕조실록』에 나타난 녹각성기록은 세종대에 20회로 가장 많은 기록이 나타났다. 지역별로는 4군 6진 지역인 평안·함길도(12) 등 변방(邊防) 험지(險地)에 주로 설치된 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 15세기 초반 조정에서 남해안 연해지역(沿海地域)의 해상 방어 전략을 수립하게 되면서부터 1510년 삼포왜란(三浦倭亂) 이후 본격적으로 읍성(邑城)을 비롯한 주요 치소(治所)나 진, 보 등 여러 관방시설 주변에 왜적의 병선(兵船)을 저지하기 위한 방어시설로서 수중목책의 설치가 급격히 증가하였다. 다섯째, 삼포왜란을 전후한 15세기부터 17세기 사이 남해안과 강화도에 수중목책이 설치되었다. 특히 15세기에 제포와 같은 경남 해안 요해처(要害處)에 수중목책이 집중적으로 설치되었다. 수중목책의 재료는 소나무와 참나무류가 주종을 이루지만 이 밖에도 합다리나무, 서어나무류, 칠덩굴도 목책의 소재로 활용되었다.

세계 주요 공항 운영 효율성 분석: DEA와 Malmquist 생산성 지수 분석을 중심으로 (An analysis of the operational efficiency of the major airports worldwide using DEA and Malmquist productivity indices)

  • Purpose - We live in a world of constant change and competition. Many airports have specific competitiveness goals and strategies for achieving and maintaining them. The global economic recession, financial crises, and rising oil prices have resulted in an increasingly important role for facility investment and renewal and the implementation of appropriate policies in ensuring the competitive advantage for airports. It is thus important to analyze the factors that enhance efficiency and productivity for an airport. This study aims to determine the efficiency levels of 20 major airports in East Asia, Europe, and North America. Further, this study also suggests suitable policies and strategies for their development. Research design, data, and methodology - This paper employs the DEA-CCR, DEA-BCC, and DEA-Malmquist production index analysis models to determine airport efficiency. The study uses data on the efficiency and productivity of the world's leading airports between 2006 and 2010. The input variables include the airport size, the number of runways, the size of passenger terminals, and the size of cargo terminals. The output variables include the annual number of passengers and the annual cargo volume. The study uses basic data from the 2010 World Airport Traffic Report (ACI). The world's top 20 airports (as rated by the ACI report) are investigated. The study uses the expanded DEA Model and the Super Efficiency Model to identify the most effective airports among the top 20. The Malmquist productivity index analysis is used to measure airport effectiveness. Results - This study analyzes longitudinal and cross-sectional data on the world's top 20 airports covering 2006 to 2010. A CCR analysis shows that the most efficient airports in 2010 were Gatwick Airport (LGW), Zurich Airport (ZRH), Vienna Airport (VIE), Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport (FCO), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Seattle-Tacoma Airport (SEA), San Francisco Airport (SFO), HongKong Airport (HKG), Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), and Shanghai Pudong Airport (PVG). We find that changes in airport productivity are affected more by technical factors than by airport efficiency. Conclusions - Based on the study results, we offer four airport development proposals. First, a benchmark airport needs to be identified. Second, inefficiency must be reduced and high-cost factors need to be managed. Third, airport operations should be enhanced through technical innovation. Finally, scientific demand forecasting and facility preparation must become the focus of attention. This paper has some limitations. Because the Malmquist productivity index is based on the hypothesis of the, the identified production change could be over- or under-estimated. Further, as DEA estimates the relative efficiency. It also cannot generalize to include all airport conditions because the variables are limited. To measure airport productivity more accurately, other input variables and environmental variables such as financial and policy factors should be included.

해양레저스포츠 체험선택과 체험효과, 체험만족에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Experience Choice, Experience Effect and Experience Satisfaction on Marine Leisure Sports)

  • 해양레저 관광 활성화를 위해 해양레저스포츠 체험선택과 체험효과, 체험만족 간의 관계를 연구하고자 설문지를 제작한 후 보령지역을 방문하여 조사 분석을 실시하는 연구를 수행한 결과 다음의 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 해양레저스포츠의 선택중요는 선택만족에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 해양레저스포츠의 선택중요는 체험효과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 해양레저스포츠의 선택만족은 체험효과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 해양레저스포츠 방문객들은 모타보트, 바나나보트, 요트 체험을 선호하는 것으로 조사되었다. 다섯째, 해양레저체험센터 건립시에는 장비대여소, 안전시설, 해양레저체험시설이 포함되어야 한다.

Single and Multi-Strain Probiotics Supplementation in Commercially Prominent Finfish Aquaculture: Review of the Current Knowledge

  • The Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus, Atlantic salmon Salmo salar, rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss, olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus, common carp Cyprinus carpio, grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella and rohu carp Labeo rohita are farmed commercially worldwide. Production of these important finfishes is rapidly expanding, and intensive culture practices can lead to stress in fish, often reducing resistance to infectious diseases. Antibiotics and other drugs are routinely used for the treatment of diseases and sometimes applied preventatively to combat microbial pathogens. This strategy is responsible for the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance, mass killing of environmental/beneficial bacteria, and residual effects in humans. As an alternative, the administration of probiotics has gained acceptance for disease control in aquaculture. Probiotics have been found to improve growth, feed utilization, immunological status, disease resistance, and to promote transcriptomic profiles and internal microbial balance of host organisms. The present review discusses the effects of single and multi-strain probiotics on growth, immunity, heamato-biochemical parameters, and disease resistance of the above-mentioned finfishes. The application and outcome of probiotics in the field or open pond system, gaps in existing knowledge, and issues worthy of further research are also highlighted.

Full-scale EFC (Electric Fume Collector)를 활용한 텐타공정 배출가스 정화 및 오일 회수 (Full-scale EFC Study on Oil Recovery and Reuse from Discharge Gas of Tenter Facility in Textile Industry)

  • 섬유 염색 산업은 공장 주변의 주민들이 악취로 인하여 고통을 받고 있으며 반드시 해결해야할 대기오염 문제이며, 특히 텐타공정에서 발생하는 백연과 악취를 저감하여야 한다. 섬유 염색 산업의 주된 대기 오염물질은 탄화수소로 이루어진 유연제, 가소제, 발수제등을 사용하는 후처리 공정에서 주로 발생한다. 화학 물질이 처리된 섬유를 텐타공정에서 건조하는 동안 섬유에 포함된 오염물질들이 기화하여 대기로 배출된다. 백연은 주로 1 마이크론 미만의 작은 고상 혹은 액상물질로 이루어져 있으며, 텐타공정에서 발생된 오염물질 분자들이, 이들 입자에 붙어서 상당히 먼 거리까지 이동하며 악취를 유발하게 된다. 텐타공정의 악취를 줄이는 가장 효과적인 방법은 이러한 미세한 오일 미스트를 제거하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 700 CMM의 Full-scale EFC (Electric Fume Collector) 운전을 통하여, 악취 및 백연이 효과적으로 제거되었으며 많은 양의 오일을 회수 할 수 있었다.

모악산 도립공원 관리방안에 과한 기초연구 (A basic study on the users' activities and cognition for management in Moaksan Provincial park)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest objective basic data for park management proposal through the quantitative analysis of users' needs and satisfaction for the actual conditions of management in Moaksand provincial park. For this, users' needs and satisfaction for facilities have been analyzed. And user's satisfaction for the actual conditions of management had been analyzed by using the multiple regression. Users want more toilets and sign boards and to replace damaged facilities. Users gave thought to trail and had high pressure to improvement, and many users were uncomfortable by crowding, and had a positive view to restrict use of intensity. Systematic careful concern about trail and rest area should be need and periodic observation to change of facility condition also. According to the multiple regression analysis, the major variable to the satisfaction for the actual condition of facilities management was trail ground condition.

TIG 용접에서의 실드 가스 혼합비에 따른 아크 압력분포 특성 (The Characteristics on Arc Pressure Distribution of TIG Welding with Shield Gas Mixing Ratio)

  • Arc pressure is one of important factors in understanding physical arc phenomena. Especially it affects on the penetration, size and shape of TIG welding. Some researches were reported on the effect of arc pressure in low and middle current region. But there are not any research in high current region. The purpose of this study is to investigate the arc pressure distribution with mixing ratio of shield gas such as Ar and He gases. A Cu block with water cooling was specifically designed and used as an anode electrode in order to measure the arc pressure in high current region. Then, the arc pressure distribution was measured with change in welding current and mixing ratio of shield gases. The arc force was obtained by numerically integrating the measured results. As the results, it was shown that the arc pressure was concentrated at the central part of the arc in middle and high current regions when a pure Ar gas was used. In case of Ar + He mixing gas, the arc pressure was much lower than that of pure Ar gas. In addition, it was widely distributed to radial direction.

물수요 중심 용수공급시스템 활용을 위한 국내 농업용수 공급체계 분석 (Analysis of Agricultural Water Distribution Systems for the Utilization of Water-Demand-Oriented Water Supply Systems)

  • This study analyzed agricultural water distribution systems for the utilization of water demand-oriented water supply systems. Three major TM/TC(telemeter/telecontrol) districts of agricultural water management were selected for analyzing the characteristics of the water distribution systems. In addition, the characteristics of the water supply systems for general water supply zones based on irrigation facilities were also investigated, along with the case of special water management during the drought season. As a result, high annual and monthly variations were observed for the water supply facilities, including the reservoirs and pumping stations. In particular, these variations were more obvious during the drought season, depending on the type of facility. The operations of the pumping stations and weirs were more sensitive to the stream levels than the reservoirs, and the smaller reservoirs were influenced more than the larger reservoirs. Therefore, a water-demand-oriented water supply system should consider the existing general practices of water management in the agricultural sector, and focus on achieving a laborsaving system rather than water conservation in the case of reservoirs. Equal water distribution from the start to the end point of irrigation channels could be an effective solution for managing pumping stations.
