  • This paper compares presentation methods which are characteristic among museums of natural history in Korea. The different medium for exhibitions are divided into Specimen, Model or Panel Type Displays, Video Presentations, Sound, and Tactile Exhibits, and further classified as Fixed (A Type), Observable (B Type), or Performance Art (C Type) Displays. The museums we studied were the Seodaemun Museum of Natural History, Ewha Womans University Museum of Natural History, Seoul National Science Museum, Gyeryongsan Natural History Museum, the National Science Museum, Mokpo Natural History Museum, and the JejuDo Folklore and Natural History Museum. A study of these museums' approaches to display composition, and exhibition methods according to their exhibit types and contents, revealed the following results: The museums of natural history rely more on Fixed type displays to show information, with appropriate uses of the Observable and the Performance Art type exhibitions. Better utilization of appropriate medium is desired for display contents of Astronomy Space Earth, Minerals Rocks Geology, Animals, Plants, Insects, Prehistoric Organisms Environment, and Anthropology.

  • Nearly every country in the world now has the education of its own history in school curriculum. Although there is a difference in the nationality of each country, each has a common perception that history education is important. This is because everyone agrees that the nation's national identity is the core of its identity, and that it forms the backbone of national unity. In Korea, history textbooks were temporarily organized in selective courses and until recently were chosen as subjects of choice in the CSAT. However, despite the repeated neglect of national history education, the national sentiment should not always be neglected, and the formation of the national consensus will eventually prove to be a necessity for the Korean National University's CSAT. Despite the need for the education of Korean history, education has always been mentioned in conjunction with the word "crisis" and "stalemate". This article looks at the key issues in the history of the curriculum and the contents of history textbooks.

  • MU's mobility patterns can be found from a movement history data. The prediction accuracy and model complexity depend on the degree of application of history data. The more data we use, the more accurate the prediction is. As a result, the location management cost is reduced, but complexity of the model increases. In this paper, we classify MU's mobility patterns into four types. For each type, we find the respective optimal number of application of history data, and predictive location area by using the simulation. The optimal numbers of four types are shown to be different. When we use more than three application of history data, the simulation time and data storage are shown to increase very steeply.

  • As teachings that use the ICT are more popular, many studies on the dynamic geometry environment(DGE) are under way. An important factor emphasized in the studies is to practical use learning activities of learners. In this study, we first define the learning history data in DGE. Second we develop a prototype of the DGE that is able to collect and analyze the learning history data automatically. The environment enables not only to grasp leaning history but also to create and manage new learning objects.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore characteristics of on-line teaching materials on websites of natural history museums, particularly with regard to educational perspectives and the nature of science. The target resources were selected from the websites of the Natural History Museum in London, the Australian Museum in Sydney, the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.. A total of twelve on-line resources from these museums used in this study were selected as representative informal science teaching materials. For the investigation, this study developed a checklist with a total of nine items that were grounded on mostly reviewing previous literature and articles focusing on educational perspectives of natural history museums and science centers. Exciting and positive results were found in all four museums. The analyses, however, indicated weaknesses as well as strengths in on-line resources regarding their usages as informal science teaching venues.

  • A cultivation of Pleurotus spp. on tree-stumps and logs, was first described at the beginning of the twentieth century. Now Pleurolus spp. is the most popular mushrooms in Korea. Especially, P. ostreatus has been cultivated for many years since artificial cultivation methods were developed in 1980's. Its productivity occurring almost 32% in Korea. To find the vision of mushroom research, the beginning and history of Pleurolus spp. cultivation were introduced worldwide based on Journal of Mushroom Science. The important innovation and history in cultivation were also discussed in Korea.

  • Development and life history of the Korean native firefly, Pyrocoelia rufa, were investigated throughout the indoor rearing. Average size of egg with an oval shape was 1.7 m and the hatchability of egg of P. rufa was approximately 88.5%. The larvae were pupated at the ${5^th}$ instar and the body length of the matured larvae was 27.1 mm. The total periods of larval stage to the end of the 5$^{th}$ instar were approximately 104.7 days. Average pupal period was 10.3 days and average number of eggs oviposited by a female was 87.3 eggs. The body size of female in the pupa and adult was larger than that of male. The wings of female adult were deteriorated.

  • This paper presents the verification and validation (V&V) of a calculation module for isotope inventory prediction to control the back-end cycle of spent nuclear fuel (SNF). The calculation method presented herein was implemented in a two-step code system of a lattice code STREAM and a nodal diffusion code RAST-K. STREAM generates a cross section and provides the number density information using branch/history depletion branch calculations, whereas RAST-K supplies the power history and three history indices (boron concentration, moderator temperature, and fuel temperature). As its primary feature, this method can directly consider three-dimensional core simulation conditions using history indices of the operating conditions. Therefore, this method reduces the computation time by avoiding a recalculation of the fuel depletion. The module for isotope inventory calculates the number densities using the Lagrange interpolation method and power history correction factors, which are applied to correct the effects of the decay and fission products generated at different power levels. To assess the reliability of the developed code system for back-end cycle analysis, validation study was performed with 58 measured samples of pressurized water reactor (PWR) SNF, and code-to-code comparison was conducted with STREAM-SNF, HELIOS-1.6 and SCALE 5.1. The V&V results presented that the developed code system can provide reasonable results with comparable confidence intervals. As a result, this paper successfully demonstrates that the isotope inventory prediction code system can be used for spent nuclear fuel analysis.

  • To study the ecological characteristics of the Korean native firefly, Luciola lateralis, development and life history of L. lateralis were investigated throughout the indoor rearing. Average size of egg with an oval shape was 0.51${\times}$0.56 mm and an egg period of L. tateralis was approximately 25.8 days. The larvae were pupated at the 5$^{th}$ instar and the body length of the matured larvae was 15.8mm. The total periods of larval stage to the end of the $5^{th}$ instar were approximately 271.7 days. Pupae formed soil cocoon and average pupal period was approximately 28.7 days. Average number of eggs oviposited by a female was approximately 97. The body size of female in the pupa and adult were larger that of male.
