Objectives: We aimed to compare the differences in parenting stress, parenting attitudes, and parents' mental health between different adult attachment styles. Methods: Forty-four parents who completed a parental education program were enrolled in our study. They completed the Korean version of the Experience of Close Relationship Revised, Korean-Parenting Stress Index-Short Form, Maternal Behavior Research Instrument, and Symptom Checklist-90-Revised. Results: The avoidant attachment score positively correlated with parenting stress. The anxious attachment score showed a positive relationship with parenting stress, hostile parenting attitude, and psychopathology, but a negative association with an affectionate parenting attitude. The secure attachment group exhibited a more autonomous, affectionate parenting style and a less hostile parenting attitude and less parenting stress than the insecure attachment group. Dismissing-avoidant attachment parents reported significantly higher parenting stress scores than secure attachment parents. Preoccupied and fearful-avoidant attachment parents displayed a more hostile parenting style than secure attachment parents. Dismissing-avoidant and preoccupied parents reported a less affectionate parenting attitude than secure attachment parents. Conclusion: There were differences in parenting stress, parenting attitudes, and parents' mental health depending on the adult attachment style. More specific education and interventions based on parental attachment type are necessary for parents.
This study explored Korean college students' place attachment to current home environments and their place attachment to childhood home environments. The study sought to confirm the relationship between childhood place attachment and collegehood place attachment to home environment. Data were collected from 336 students at four universities in Jellabuk-Do, Korea, and questionnaire survey was performed. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was computed and showed five factors related to place attachment of home environment. Place intimacy, rootedness, place identity, place dependence, and place palyness showed in childhood place attachment to home; place identity, place affection, place restfulness, place dependence, and rootedness in collegehood place attachment to home. Canonical correlation analysis showed that childhood place attachment to home explained 43.9% variance with regard to collegehood place attachment to home. This relationship implied that childhood place attachment strongly affected subsequent collegehood place attachment.

Purpose: The attachment level is strongly associated with tooth loss and provides useful information on patterns of destruction of the periodontium. The presence of horizontal attachment loss would not be detected in clinical measurement. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to estimate the patterns of periodontal destruction based on the attachment area and horizontal attachment loss in extracted teeth due to severe periodontitis. Materials and Methods: 307 teeth satisfied the criteria for assessment. An indirect method, based on digital images obtained from a digital camera and an image analysis program, was used to calculate the area of root surface and attachment loss and the extent of horizontal attachment loss. The data were analysed using SPSS. Results: No statistically significant differences among root surfaces were observed in anterior teeth on the loss of attachment area. However, in posterior teeth statistically significant differences in palatal surfaces of maxillary and mandibular premolar and molar surfaces compared with buccal surfaces were observed. Horizontal attachment loss was observed in 21.5% of the teeth examined. Frequency of horizontal attachment loss was highest in the maxillary first premolar (34.8%), followed by the maxillary second premolar (27.3%) and maxillary canine (25%). The mean length of horizontal attachment loss was 1.5mm. Conclusion: More meticulous examination will be needed of the palatal surfaces of maxillary and mandibular premolar and molar teeth. The percentage of teeth with horizontal attachment loss greater than 2.1 mm was 5.2%. Considering the length of curette blades, about 5.2% of teeth were not properly debrided. Therefore, Additional supportive therapy such as local drug delivery has to be considered in treatment of the first maxillary, second premolar and canine due to the high prevalence of horizontal attachment loss.
Purpose - In the major global markets, such as US and China, consumer ethnocentrism has been strengtened and there is a growing need for related study. This research aims to investigate the effects of national pride and national attachment on consumer ethnocentrism, using a nationally representative dataset from 2013 Korean General Social Survey. Based on the reviews of literature in social and political sciences, two dimensions of national pride were considered: national society pride which is based on positive evaluations on the nation's democracy condition or social security system, and national achievement pride which is based on positive evaluations regarding the country's achievements in the areas of technology, art, sports, and so on. Research design, data, and methodology - The authors developed a structural model in which two types of national pride, national society and achievement pride, are proposed to affect national attachment, thus influencing consumer ethnocentrism. 1,294 surveys were used for empirical analysis. The hypotheses were tested by utilizing SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 21.0. The unidimensionality of each construct and the nomological validity were supported from the results of factor analyses and correlation analysis. Results - It was found that both national society pride and national achievement pride have significant and positive effects on national attachment. Consumers who show stronger pride on the social systems or the global achievements of Korea are more likely to remain being a citizen of the country and support the country even in wrong. Also, there was a significant and positive relationship between national attachment and consumer ethnocentrism. Korean consumers who have stronger attachment to Korea tend to express higher ethnocentrism to protect Korean labor market and to promote economic development of the country. Conclusions - The findings of this study showed that companies and government need to emphasize the country's advanced social environments or global competitiveness in technology, sports, art, and so on, to boost national attachment. With a deeper understanding on the relationships among national pride, national attachment, and consumer ethnocentrism, the authors expect that both local and foreign companies in Korea will be able to develop more effective marketing strategies and to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the adult attachment style characteristics of mothers with selective mutism children and their relations to selective mutism. Methods :The subjects of this study were 15 mothers with selective mutism children who were diagnosed by DSM-IV criteria at psychiatry outpatient department of Kyungpook National University Hospital from March 1998 to February 2005. The controls of this study were 30 mothers with normal children who are in the second grade of elementary school in Daegu. We assessed the adult attachment style characteristics of these mothers by Revised Adult Attachment Scale, and Reciprocal Attachment Questionnaire-Korean version, self-report attachment style questionnaire. Results : 1) On the self-report attachment style questionnaire, it revealed that mothers with selective mutism children had both of the secure and the dismissing-avoidant types predominantly and the tendency that mothers with selective mutism children more commonly had dismissing-avoidant type than controls did. 2) On the comparison of attachment quality of mothers, although only the anxiety subscale difference was significant, it revealed that mothers with selective mutism children had generally lower score pattern in all of closeness, dependence and anxiety subscale than controls did. It was consistent with the consequence of self-report attachment style questionnaire in this study. Conclusion : This study showed that the distribution of adult attachment style of mothers with selective mutism children was different from those of controls. The dismissing-avoidant attachment style was predominant in mothers with selective mutism children. we suppose the possibility that the dismissing-avoidant attachment style of mothers with selective mutism children has relation with selective mutism.
The purpose of this study was to explore the impacts of adolescents' body images, attachment to parents, attachment to peers, and resilience on life satisfaction. The participants were 1449 adolescents selected from six junior-high schools. T-tests and stepwise multiple regression were conducted for data analysis. Major findings of this study were as follows: 1) There were gender differences in body images, peer attachment, and life satisfaction. 2) Adolescents' body images and degree of resilience were significant predictors of life satisfaction. 3) Attachment to parents was a significant predictor of life satisfaction, but peer attachment was not significant.

The factors influencing long-term prognosis of teeth must be carefully considered. Among these, attachment level is strongly associated with tooth loss. The purpose of the present study was to estimate pattern of attachment loss based on attachment area in extracted teeth. 197 satisfied the criteria for assessment after staining. The protocol described by Waerhaug(l975) was performed. An indir ect method, based on digital image abstracted from digital camera and digital imaging software program, was used to calculate the root surface area and the attachment loss area. The data were analysed using SPSS. Except maxillary central incisior and mandibular canine, no statistical significant differences between each root surfaces were observed in anterior teeth. In posterior teeth, statistical significant differences in palatal surface of maxillary molar and mandibular molar compared with others were observed. Statistical significant difference in buccal surface compared with others was lowly observed in single and multi rooted. This study did not reveal progressive loss pattern of attachment area in each root surface but clarified root surface that has relative high loss rate of attachment area at extraction. Thus understanding this pattern of attachment loss is helpful for dentist to treat the periodontitis.
Objective: Sex differences in attachment types are absent during early childhood, but emerge in middle childhood. Prior research has shown that boys classify as more often avoidant than ambivalent. The purpose of this study was to investigate marked sex differences in the distribution of attachment types in middle childhood, especially in boys. Methods: Attachment was assessed with the Separation Anxiety Test in a sample of 208 boys in Grades 3 and 4. Their socioeconomic backgrounds and developmental histories were also collected. Results: The distribution of attachment types was differed from those in early childhood, with insecure boys more often avoidant (31.3%) than ambivalent (7.2%). Insecure-avoidant boys were rated as over 10% compared the global distribution. Conclusion: These results supported the hypothesis of adrenarche in middle childhood. Boys may be changed to have more avoidant types in attachment.
This study was designed 1) to explore the adult attachment factors, 2) to investigated the individual attachment styles and combined attachment patterns for 362 wives and husbands,3) and to know the effects of the relation to marital adjustment. The inventories were KAAQ(Korean Adult Attachment Questionnare), KMAQ(Korean Marital Adjustment Questionnare), and the Socio-demographic questionnaires. The data analysis methods were frequencies, percentiles, Cronbach'${\alpha}$, Factor Analysis, and F-test. The resets were as follows; 1. 3 factors were found in adult attachment. 2. 3 styles of adult attachment(secure, anxious/ambicalent, avoidant) were found. Secure style was most frequent. Also for 9 combined attachment patters, secure pattern was found the most frequent one. 3. Marital adjustment was highest with secure attachment style, anxious/ambivalent was next , and avoidant was the lowest. About combined attachment patterns, a pair of secure style showed the highest marital adjustment, and a pair of avoidant was the lowest.

The purpose of this study was to review the current studies on community attachment and its related variables to suggest directions for community attachment studies in Korea. Specific objectives of the study were to search the current studies on community attachment, to search for the significant variables related to community attachment, and to draw implications for community development in Korea. The major findings of the study were as follows; 1) Current studies on community attachment used individual characteristic variables such as length of residence in the community, age, size of population and density as major independent variables. 2) Studies on community attachment used community participation, social and cultural environment as major dependent variables, however, both independent variables and dependent variables were used interchangeably in many cases. 3) Recent studied on community attachment employed community economic and cultural variables, however, studies on community attachment in Korea was relatively limited in terms of quantity as well as quality. 4) Further research on community attachment should be conducted by utilizing various independent and dependent variables in various communities to increase the community attachment in rural and urban communities to further strengthen community development in Korea.
