  • Many colleges in Korea have been making a concentrated effort to develop engineering certification education programs, fit for the certification standards and the reality of each college. However, in reality, many colleges and departments in Korea have great difficulties in making the curriculums meet the engineering certification standards to be proper for the present situation of each college. Therefore, this study aims at suggesting the most general way to make a specialized liberal arts curriculum for the colleges preparing for the engineering certification. When this is applied to the architectural engineering program curriculums of each college, students will be able to take specialized liberal arts subjects which are appropriate for their future careers and aptitudes, and also enterprises will be able to curtail educational expenses for their new employees and hire competent people who combine fundamental personality, basic knowledge about the work, and foreign language proficiency. Furthermore, the nation will be able to secure national competitive power through systematization of engineering education and realistic educational systems.

  • The controller area network(CAN) was originally developed to support cheap and rather simple automative applications, However, because of the its performance and low cost, it is also being considered in automated manufacturing and process control environments to interconnect intelligent devices, such as modem sensors and actuators. This paper presents a new application technology of the developed CAN control modules for the automated doors in building automation system Key pad and RF methods are used to open and close the automated door by the slave CAN module with CAN Protocol. BAS application technology of CAN field bus modules is also presented firstly in our nation.

  • Heritage timber structures represent the history and culture of a nation. These structures have been inherited from previous generations; however, they inevitably exhibit deterioration over time, potentially leading to structural deficiencies. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) offers the potential to assess operational anomalies, deterioration, and damage through processing and analysis of data collected from transducers and sensors mounted on the structure. This paper reports on the design and implementation of a long-term SHM system on the Feiyun Wooden Pavilion in China, a three-story timber building built more than 500 years ago. The principles and features of the design and implementation of SHM systems for heritage timber buildings are systematically discussed. In total, 104 sensors of 6 different types are deployed on the structure to monitor the environmental effects and structural responses, including air temperature and humidity, wind speed and direction, structural temperatures, strain, inclination, and acceleration. In addition, integrated data acquisition and transmission subsystem using a newly developed software platform are implemented. Selected preliminary statistical and correlation analysis using one year of monitoring data are presented to demonstrate the condition assessment capability of the system based on the monitoring data.

  • The two recent excavations at the site of Beopsusa Temple in Seongju revealed that it contained eight building remains, three pedestrian facilities, four drainage facilities, two walls, three embankments, and an estimated pagoda remain. Even though this investigation was restricted to some sections of the site, it confirmed remains of architectural significance and thus attracted the attention of concerned researchers. This study thus set out to make an architectural survey of the site based on the excavation results and examine the characteristics and nature of remains of Buildings No.2 and 3 at the site. The planar analysis results show that Building No.2 (Remains 2-2) at the site of Beopsusa Temple was a gable-roofed building with a single story including 6 kan(間) in the front and 4 kan(間) in the flank and that Building No.3 (Remains 3-3) was a single-story building with a hipped-and-gable roof including 5 kan(間) in the front and 3 kan(間) in the flank. The most noteworthy remain of this excavation was the north-south square platform discovered at the Building No.2 at the site. It is estimated as a high chair platform used for Buddhist sermons. It was confirmed only at the lecture hall remains of Hwangnyongsa Temple and Anyangsa Temple in the nation and had never been found at remains related to Chinese and Japanese Buddhist Temples, being regarded as a very important and unique artifact. Since it was found at the remains of Building No.2, they was estimated as the lecture hall remain at the site. Found at the remains of Building No.3 at the site, the oblong altar remains were also very unique and rare and never found at other Buddhist temple sites. The inside of oblong altar was evenly covered with roof tiles instead of rubble, and there were small crushed stones for internal division, which is an altar construction method distinctly different from its counterparts at other Buddhist temple sites. Those findings raise the possibility high that a wooden facility was put up at the top of oblong remains.

  • In 1990, Korea building contractors were indifferent maintenance management cause focus on completion of construction before construction collapsed. Currently, structures monitoring systems are restrictive on large structures. Structures monitoring systems are limited many old and small structures in the whole nation. Recently, we make efforts application Ubiquitous technology as like sensor, sensor network system, and wireless communication system in construction. This paper applies bridge management system using Ubiquitous skill which is real-time monitoring report offering system.

  • To strengthen the nation's logistics infrastructure, the government will also look into constructing inland freight bases in the country's five major regions-the Seoul metropolitan area, Busan region, Honam region(North and South Jeolla provinces), central region(North and South Chungcheong and Gangwon provinces) and the Youngnam region(North and South Gyeongsang provinces). In the years ahead, the construction industry will be challenged by increasingly difficult and complex problems in both engineering and management . Domestic construction industry usually accounts for the range of 10percent of a gross domestic products(GDP) in Korea. The retardations of construction periods in numerous construction works which are caused by the short supply of building materials and laborers have been coming out as a social problem in the country.

  • We are, now in the 21st century, that environmental preservation and the campaign for bio-diversity protection are very important issues the government must deal with as nation's main policy. To make road and building construction, housing land service, construction of golf fields, and various development works, we have made artificial topographical alterations and as a result, the cut-slop has been increased. However, without the proper study and clear planning, revegetation for the stability of the cut-slop has worked out. These efforts now are causing derangement of an ecosystem and spoiling the nature without considering for ecological adaptation. Therefore, we are going to find out the Revegetation Method to Cut-Slopes considering both the ecological adaptation and harmony with the nature.

  • This study is on landscape design of existing rural village focused on for improvement of community. It's so one of serious problems in landscape in almost rural area of the nation. For the finding clue of landscape design of village view through this study, we surveyed 1 village located in Sangju city. By surveying landscape design factor of village, we can propose design method and a few results as follow; Firstly, the structure of village landscape has five principle factors. The five factors of landscape are history and culture, housing and building, nature, agriculture, and environment design. Secondly, color existing of housings is to contain a primary color on roof which is not in harmony. Nevertheless, we can also find the reform measure and the possibility because of the knowledge of village people.
