Ah! My Goddess has impressive narrative structure including a "narrative as a discourse," a "narrative as a story" and a "narrative by narrator": in a narrative as a discourse, North and South Korean soldiers make friendship; in a narrative by a narrator, main characters (including Sun-ho, Seok-gu, Ju-hwa, Chang-seop and Dong-hyeon) appear in the outer story and narrate the inner story of characters (including Dong-hyeon, Goddess and Seok-gu) within the frame of a play within a play; and in a narrative as a story, reality and fantasy intersect by the appearance of the "Goddess." This narrative structure contributes largely to 1) the character formation of space, 2) the strategic minimization of the stage, 3) the multiplicity of main characters, 4) the repetition of similar life story, and 5) the flexible change of a point of view. And the musical number serves as dramatic functions such as 1) pursuing the multiplicity of characters, 2) maximizing the effect of the expression of tragic feelings, 3) drawing audience's interest by irony and fantasy, 4) evoking the nostalgia for delicate feelings and pure wishes, and 5) ordinary female characters' playing the role of healing and salvation, thereby contributing to the reconstruction of reality and the style of fantasy.

This study explored the experience of clinical nurses caring for foreign wives in Korea. A narrative study approach within the qualitative research paradigm was applied in this study. The data were collected using individual in-depth interviews with 10 clinical nurses who had at least 5 years working experiences caring for foreign wives and their children in the Women and Children's clinical setting. The narrative stories of the clinical nurses were analyzed in the frame of culture-bounded nursing care. In the culture-bounded nursing care, ethnocentric viewpoints, acceptable viewpoints, and culture-based viewpoints were identified within the time frame. Significantly, the narrator identified herself as a therapeutic caregiver in the culture-based viewpoints providing tailored caregiving for foreign wives. This study requires cultural sensitivity of nurses who care for the people with different cultural backgrounds. Self-awareness would be the starting point to reach culturally competent nursing care.

The meaning of things appeared in the frame vary according to how they look in a shot. Especially, position of frame shows how a form becomes a content in quality. This has a large impact on communication with audiences, reminds them a special feeling or atmosphere toward an object and plays a suggestive role for things that shows up. Thus, this study aimed to investigate how symbolisms appeared in the frame position are shown in the relation among characters' narrative, personality and conflict and understand correlation between frame position and characters accordingly. As an object to be analyzed, this study selected which was played with narratives of couples with different personalities. The results of analysis shows that it is deeply associated with couples' narrative, which means that trauma or the severance of relations between a couple is shown on left side, whereas a positive and future-oriented couple was mainly shown on right side and the rate of being situated in the center turned out to be high according to the power relations of love. Based on the comparison between symbolism appeared according to the frame position and narratives and traumas that various characters have, this study found that frame position is playing an important role in composing characters' personality.

This study is a narrative depiction of a focusing attitude training experience through a counselor's participation in focusing workshop. Through the story of life, the researchers explored how the participant experienced according to the three - dimensional narrative inquiry space (time, place, interaction). The results of this study is that the contact (self - awareness process) with self - experience through focusing training abled the counselor to facilitate clients' own self-contact during the psychotherapy process and as a result the counselor was able to establish 'relational depth' with clients. Through Focusing experience, the counselor was able to aware bodily feeling 'as it is' which helped the expansion of self with multiple perspectives of life away from fixed own self -frame. The implication of this study is to explore the meaning of the counselor's Focusing attitude and to prepare for the development of Focusing workshops in the future.

In film various techniques interact organically in order to bring a story to life and, by doing so, influence the audience's perception. The techniques composing the form of a film are part of a format-system and therefore have to be well adjusted to the content of the film to trigger an intended effect. It is then that these techniques boost the intensity of the audience's emotional experience. The subject of analysis in this study of aesthetic composition, which is part of the concept of visual narrative, is the movie "Silence", which depicts a disturbing story based on real events. The goal of this study is the analysis of composition techniques used to support the film's narrative structure, where elaborate frame-composition and techniques are applied with great efficiency. Another goal is also to illustrate the meaning of film-format and its importance. Looking deeper into the question of how meaning and emotions, which are inherent in a film, finally manifest themselves on screen through a single shot, where the cinematographer's ideas and aesthetic vision come together and also the question of how a narrative structure in the context of a film works- these questions are the essence of this study.

The places of the movie are not a just backdrop, are discribed by the character. Imagetelling movie is a character movie by itself. This Thesis will explain how to make a narrative using a chunggye industrial tools center more effectively and define the power of the locale in the movie.

Fantasy emerges from the cracks and crevices of rational reality. Italo Calvino says, "Fantasy is possible when the reader stays at a certain distance without falling into the text." Fantasy does not form farthest from reality. It comes from the confusion between reality and fiction. In short, fantasy does not exist on the contrary of reality, but on the boundary of reality. Reality and fantasy are also structurally intertwined. We can't distinguish the reality from fantasy clearly. In fact, in this case, the reader or audience is confused about whether what I see is real or not. Todorov calls this case "hesitation." Hesitation is a key element of fantasy. Two texts that expressed "hesitation" are Kim Young-ha's short novel Vampire (1997) and Wes Anderson's film The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). On the surface, these two texts seem to have nothing to do with narrative structural similarities. And both also arouse readers' and audiences' interest by letting confuse reality to fantasy. In Kim Young-ha's Vampire, we can look at the process of confusion of reality called "narrative infection" when a text is read to the reader. In the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel, we can find a strategy to make an unreal story feel like a fact in history. And we can also find a process in which the success stories of alienated characters become reality through 'solidarity' in the film. This paper is a study of how fantasy creates "reality", makes readers feel fantasy, and how it spreads through these two texts.

The purpose of this paper aim to figure in contemporary human documentary as a cultural aspect of daily life in the era of 1920s in Korea. This study analyzed the TV documentary titled on early childhood English education through narrative structure analysis (Chatman, 2003). It performed syntagmatic analysis to clarify the story structure with a focus on the development of events, and paradigmatic analysis to understand the semantic structure hidden in the text by binary opposition analysis. The documentary was constructed in the frame of 'balance-confusion-rebalance', and it was explicitly delivered that the English immersion education prohibited in the private elementary schools has stimulated the market of private English education. However, the government's and students' voices were missing, and the group of parents, private elementary school officials, and people involved in private English institutes played as main agents to lead the discourse of English immersion and early childhood English education in the documentary.

A satirical cartoon is a time-limited medium in the context of specific social phenomena. On the other hand, satirical cartoons based on 'Sewolho' was published with 74 works by Kyunghyang Shinmun and 46 works by Joongang Ilbo. This is because it is a social phenomenon with a special meaning that satirical cartoons based on 'Sewolho' is a political issue that is called out of time constraints. In this study, I compared and analyzed the expressive elements of Kyunghyang Shinmun and Joongang Ilbo in the social phenomenon 'Sewolho'. The elements of the character, frame, and speech bubble which are the picture elements of satirical cartoons, combine to form the narrative structure. And the elements of the Speech, name and commentary which are also the same. The results of this study are meaningful that the analysis of the narrative structure through the expressive elements of satirical cartoons is meaningful by comparing and analyzing the satirical cartoons of two newspapers with different tendencies.
