Study on the Electrospun Nanofiber Fabrication and Alignment of the Functionalized CNT Reinforced Polymer (전기방사 방법을 사용한 기능화된 탄소나노튜브 강화 고분자 수지 나노섬유 제조에 관한 연구)

  • Multi-walled carbon nanotubes were purified by using the nitric acid after the mechanical cutting, which carboxylic group might be introduced into the surface of nanotubes. To enhance the dispersion of CNTs, carboxylic groups were substituted in the reaction with octadecyl amine containing a long alkyl group. Nanofibers were manufactured by electrospinning, the solution that mixed with PMMA and ODA-fuctionalized CNTs in dimethyl formamide and dispersed with ultrasonication. Diameter and alignment of nanofibers with various electrospinning parameters, such as the CNT and PMMA concentration in solution, the applied voltage, and the distance to the collector were investigated. As a result, the nanofiber diameter was increased with the increment of PMMA concentration, whereas it was reduced as the applied voltage and the spinning distance was increased. The spinning area became smaller with the distance. The nanofibers were formed without the defect on surface and well aligned in a specific concentration of PMMA and nanotubes.

Fabrication of a Polymeric Film with Nanofiber-based Porous Window and Its Application to Co-culture (섬유 기반의 다공성 윈도우를 가지는 박막 제작 및 공배양에의 활용)

  • Recently, various biochip environments have been presented. In this study, a novel transparent film with porous membrane windows, which is an essential component in a co-cultured biochip environment, is fabricated using spin-coating, 3D printing, and electrospinning processes. In detail, a transparent polystyrene film was fabricated by means of the spin-coating process followed bywindow cutting, after which apolycaprolactone-chloroform solution was deposited along the window edge to introduce an adhesion layer between the PS film and the PCL nanofibers. Nanofibers were electrospun into the window region using a direct-write electrospinning method. Consequently, it was demonstrated that the fabricated window film could be used in a co-culture biochip environment.

Porous Bio-degradable Nano-fiber Machining by Femtosecond Laser (다공성 친바이오 나노섬유 극초단 레이저 가공특성 연구)

  • Electrospun meshed poly-caprolactone PCL was patterned by femtosecond laser with linear grooves. As parametric variables, focus spot size, pulse energy, and scanning speed were varied to determine the affects on groove size and the characteristics of the electrospun fiber at the edges of these grooves. The femtosecond laser was seen to be an effective means for flexibly structuring the surface of ES PCL scaffolds and the width of the ablated grooves was well controlled by laser energy and focus spot size. The ablation threshold was measured to be $14.9J/cm^2$ which is a little higher than other polymers. These affects were attributed to optical multiple reflections inside nano-fibers. By the laser-induced plasma at higher pulse energies, some melting of fibers was observed.
