  • In this study, the mechanical bending behaviors of functionally graded porous nanobeams are investigated. Four types of porosity which are, the classical power porosity function, the symmetric with mid-plane cosine function, bottom surface distribution and top surface distribution are proposed in analysis of nanobeam for the first time. A comparison between four types of porosity are illustrated. The effect of nano-scale is described by the differential nonlocal continuum theory of Eringen by adding the length scale into the constitutive equations as a material parameter comprising information about nanoscopic forces and its interactions. The graded material is designated by a power function through the thickness of nanobeam. The beam is simply-supported and is assumed to be thin, and hence, the kinematic assumptions of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory are held. The mathematical model is solved numerically using the finite element method. Numerical results show effects of porosity type, material graduation, and nanoscale parameters on the static deflection of nanobeam.

  • The thermal buckling temperature values of the graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite shell structure is explored using higher-order mid-plane kinematics and multiscale constituent modeling under two different thermal fields. The critical values of buckling temperature including the effect of in-plane thermal loading are computed numerically by minimizing the final energy expression through a linear isoparametric finite element technique. The governing equation of the multiscale nanocomposite is derived via the variational principle including the geometrical distortion through Green-Lagrange strain. Additionally, the model includes different grading patterns of nanotube through the panel thickness to improve the structural strength. The reliability and accuracy of the developed finite element model are varified by comparison and convergence studies. Finally, the applicability of present developed model was highlight by enlighten several numerical examples for various type shell geometries and design parameters.

  • In this article, the influence of small scale effects on the free vibration response of curved magneto-electro-elastic functionally graded (MEE-FG) nanobeams has been investigated considering nonlocal elasticity theory. Power-law is used to judge the through thickness material property distribution of MEE nanobeams. The Euler-Bernoulli beam model has been adopted and through Hamilton's principle the Nonlocal governing equations of curved MEE-FG nanobeam are obtained. The analytical solutions are obtained and validated with the results reported in the literature. Several parametric studies are performed to assess the influence of nonlocal parameter, magnetic potential, electric voltage, opening angle, material composition and slenderness ratio on the dynamic behaviour of MEE curved nanobeams. It is believed that the results presented in this article may serve as benchmark results in accurate analysis and design of smart nanostructures.

  • This paper infer the transient vibration of piezoelectric sandwich nanobeams, In present work, the flexoelectric effect on the mechanical properties of vibration piezoelectric sandwich nanobeam with different boundary conditions is investigated. According to the Nonlocal elasticity theory in nanostructures, the flexoelectricity is believed to be authentic for such size-dependent properties. The governing equations are derived by Hamilton's principle and boundary condition solved by Galerkin-based solution. This research develops a nonlocal flexoelectric sandwich nanobeam supported by Winkler-Pasternak foundation. The results of this work indicate that natural frequencies of a sandwich nanobeam increase by increasing the Winkler and Pasternak elastic constant. Also, increasing the nonlocal parameter at a constant length decreases the natural frequencies. By increasing the length to thickness ratio (L/h) of nanobeam, the nonlocal frequencies reduce.

  • The present study analyzed free vibration of the three-layered micro annular/circular plate which its core and face sheets are made of saturated porous materials and FG-CNTRCs, respectively. The structure is subjected to magneto-electric fields and magneto-electro-mechanical pre loads. Mechanical properties of the porous core and also FG-CNTRC face sheets are varied through the thickness direction. Using dynamic Hamilton's principle, the motion equations based on MCS and FSD theories are derived and solved via GDQ as an efficient numerical method. Effect of different parameters such as pores distributions, porosity coefficient, pores compressibility, CNTs distribution, elastic foundation, multi-physical pre loads, small scale parameter and aspect ratio of the plate are investigated. The findings of this study can be useful for designing smart structures such as sensor and actuator.

  • This paper based on Sanders theory aims to investigate the vibration of SWCNTs considering the clamped-simply supported, clamped-free, clamped-clamped and simply supported-simply supported end conditions. After developing the governing equation of the objective system, the Rayleigh-Ritz technique is implemented for the purpose of obtaining the frequency equation in the eigen form. In addition, the applicability of this model for the analysis of vibration of CNTs is examined with the effect of length and ratio of height-to-radius. A detailed description of different types of SWCNTs with different indices is provided in the theoretical methodology. The effect of extended length is stimulated with increasing the radii and the model is effective because it also predicts the effect of thickness on vibration of SWCNTs. For different boundary conditions, the present results are verified with earlier literature.

  • The crystal grains of polycrystalline diamond vary depending on deposition conditions and growth thickness. The diamond thin film deposited by the CVD method has a very rough growth surface. On average, the surface roughness of a diamond thin film deposited by CVD is in the range of 1-100 um. However, the high surface roughness of diamond is unsuitable for application in industrial applications, so the surface roughness must be lowered. As the surface roughness decreases, the scattering of incident light is reduced, the heat conduction is improved, the mechanical surface friction coefficient can be lowered, and the transmittance can also be improved. In addition, diamond-coated cutting tools have the advantage of enabling ultra-precise machining. In this study, the surface roughness of diamond was improved by thermal diffusion reaction between diamond carbon atoms and ferrous metals at high temperature for diamond thin films deposited by MPCVD.

  • In this article, the dynamic parameters (frequencies, mode shapes, damping ratios) of the scaled concrete structure and the dynamic parameters (frequencies, mode shapes, damping ratios) of the entire outer surface of titanium dioxide, 80 micron in thickness are compared using operational modal analysis method. Ambient excitation was provided from micro tremor ambient vibration data on ground level. Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition (EFDD) was used for the output only modal identification. From this study, a good correlation between mode shapes was found. Titanium dioxide applied to the entire outer surface of the scaled concrete structure has an average of 11.78% difference in frequency values and 10.15% in damping ratios, proving that nanomaterials can be used to increase rigidity in structures, in other words, for reinforcement. Another important result determined in the study was the observation of the adherence of titanium dioxide and similar nanomaterials mentioned in the introduction to concrete structure surfaces was at the highest level.

  • This paper presents an investigation about superharmonic and subharmonic resonances of a carbon nanotube reinforced composite beam subjected to lateral harmonic load with damping effect based on the modified couple stress theory. As reinforcing phase, three different types of single walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) distribution are considered through the thickness in polymeric matrix. The governing nonlinear dynamic equation is derived based on the von Kármán nonlinearity with using of Hamilton's principle. The Galerkin's decomposition technique is utilized to discretize the governing nonlinear partial differential equation to nonlinear ordinary differential equation and then is solved by using of multiple time scale method. Effects of different patterns of reinforcement, volume fraction, excitation force and the length scale parameter on the frequency-response curves of the carbon nanotube reinforced composite beam are investigated. The results show that volume fraction and the distribution of CNTs play an important role on superharmonic and subharmonic resonances of the carbon nanotube reinforced composite beams.

  • A Closed-form solution for dynamic response of a functionally graded (FG) nonlocal nanobeam due to action of moving harmonic load is presented in this paper. Due to analyzing in small scale, a nonlocal elasticity theory is utilized. The governing equation and boundary conditions are derived based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and Hamilton's principle. The material properties vary through the thickness direction. The harmonic moving load is modeled by Delta function and the FG nanobeam is simply supported. Using the Laplace transform the dynamic response is obtained. The effect of important parameters such as excitation frequency, the velocity of the moving load, the power index law of FG material and the nonlocal parameter is analyzed. To validate, the results were compared with previous literature, which showed an excellent agreement.
