  • Thermoplastic resin takes place stress relaxation and creep according to temperature and time. In room temperature, time dependent deformation (TDD) of polymer was carried out at previous study. In this study, it evaluates time dependent deformation to relate temperature. Nanoscale indents can be used as cells for molecular electronics and drug delivery, slots for integration into nanodevices, and defects for tailoring the structure and properties. Therefore, it is important to control pattern depth for change of indent depth by creep when using Nanoindenter. For evaluating TDD at high temperature, it is occurred thermal-nanoindentation test by changing hold time at maximum load. Temperature is putted at $90^{\circ}C$, hold time at maximum loads are putted at 1, 10, 50, 100, 200, 300 and 500s.

  • In this study, we determine that the electron paramagnetic resonance line-width (EPRLW) is axially symmetric about the c-axis and analyze the spin Hamiltonian with an isotopic g-factor of 1.9920 at a frequency of 9.5 GHz. It should be noted that the electron paramagnetic resonance signals are Lorentzian. Our findings show that the EPRLW decreases exponentially with an increase in the temperature; i.e., its temperature dependence in the range 300-400 K obeys Arrhenius behavior, this kind of temperature dependence indicates an off-center a motional narrowing of the spectrum when $Mn^{2+}$ impurity ions substitute for $Nb^{5+}$ ions. The specific heats follow a linear dependence suggesting a simple Debye $T^3$ behavior.

  • In this report, the plasmonic nanopores of less than 5 nm diameter were fabricated on the apex of the pyramidal cavity array. The metallic pyramidal pit cavity can also utilized as the plasmonic bioreactor, and the fabricated Au or Al metallic nanopore can provide the controllable translocation speed down using the plasmonic optical force. Initially, the SiO2 nanopore on the pyramidal pit cavity were fabricated using conventional microfabrication techniques. Then, the metallic thin film was sputter-deposited, followed by surface modification of the nanometer thick membrane using FESEM, TEM and EPMA. The huge electron intensity of FESEM with ~microsecond scan speed can provide the rapid solid phase surface transformation. However, the moderate electron beam intensity from the normal TEM without high speed scanning can only provide the liquid phase surface modification. After metal deposition, the 100 nm diameter aperture using FIB beam drilling was obtained in order to obtain the uniform nano-aperture. Then, the nanometer size aperture was reduced down to ~50 nm using electron beam surface modification using high speed scanning FESEM. The followed EPMA electron beam exposure without high speed scanning presents the reduction of the nanosize aperture down to 10 nm. During these processes, the widening or the shrinking of the nanometer pore was observed depending upon the electron beam intensity. Finally, using 200 keV TEM, the diameter of the nanopore was successively down from 10 nm down to 1.5 nm.

  • Titanium and its alloy have been widely used in dental implant and orthopedic prostheses. Electrochemical characteristics of dental implant in the various simulated body fluids have been researched by using electrochemical methods. Ti-6Al-4V alloy implant was used for corrosion test in 0.9% NaCl, artificial saliva and simulated body fluids. The surface morphology was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The electrochemical stability was investigated using potentiosat (EG&G Co, 263A). The corrosion surface was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). From the results of potentiodynamic test in various solution, the current density of implant tested in SBF and AS solution was lower than that of implant tested in 0.9% NaCl solution. From the results of passive film stability test, the variation of current density at constant 250 mV showed the consistent with time in the case of implant tested in SBF and AS solution, whereas, the current density at constant 250mV in the case of implant tested in 0.9% NaCl solution showed higher compared to SBF and AS solution as time increased. From the results of cyclic potentiodynamic test, the pitting potential and |$E_{pit}\;-\;E_{corr}$| of implant tested in SBF and AS solution were higher than those of implant tested in 0.9% NaCl solution.

  • This review describes several kinds of emulsification methods for nanoemulsions and the application of nanoemulsions. Nanoemulsion droplet sizes fall typically in the range of 20 ~200 nm and show narrow size distributions. Although most of the publications on either oil-in-water (O/W) or water-in-oil (W/O) nanoemulsions have reported their formation by dispersion or high-energy emulsification methods, an increased interest is observed in the study of nano-emulsion formation by condensation or low-energy emulsification methods based on the phase transitions that take place during the emulsification process. Phase behaviour studies have shown that the size of the droplets is governed by the surfactant phase structure (bicontinuous microemulsion or lamellar) at the inversion point induced by either temperature or composition. Studies on nanoemulsion formation by the phase inversion temperature (PIT) method have shown a relation between minimum droplet size and complete solubilization of the oil in a microemulsion bicontinuous phase independently of whether the initial phase equilibrium is single or multiphase. Due to their small droplet size nanoemulsions possess stability against sedimentation or creaming with Ostwald ripening forming the main mechanism of nanoemulsion breakdown. An application of nanoemulsions is the preparation of nanoparticles using a polymerizable monomer as the disperse phase where nanoemulsion droplets act as nanoreactors, cosmetics and controlled drug delivery. In this review, we mainly focus on the cosmetics.

  • Emulsion is a dispersion system among liquids which are not miscible together. There are numerous cosmetic raw materials which have different physicochemical properties. Therefore, emulsion technology is very useful in cosmetics. With the development of emulsifier, several emulsification technologies have been developed. Since HLB method by Griffin in 1950's, PIT method, gel method, and D-phase methods, etc, have been developed. Recently, the application of natural emulsifier and polymeric emulsifier increases in cosmetics in order to achieve enhanced safety and biocompatibility. Besides nano-emulsion, multiple-emulsion, liquid crystal emulsion, and Pickering emulsion have been developed and applied as means of differentiating appearance and texture of products and achieving enhanced delivery of active ingredients. Meanwhile, the application studies of nano-dispersed structural system such as liposome or cubosome are on progress. Liposome is a bi- or multi-lamella layer dispersion system composed of amhiphilic molecules - phospholipids which are main components of plasma membrane. Cubosome also is a nano-sized dispersion system composed of a specific molecule like glyceryl monoloeate derived from natural products. And it has a cubic bicontinuous structure in water due to its unique molecular structure. Incorporating compounds (active materials) into such nano-particles can increase biocompatibility and delivery efficiency of target compounds. Manufacturing process and application of cosmetic emulsions and nano-particles are briefly introduced in this paper.

  • It's important to measure quantitative properties about thermal-nano behavior of polymer for producing high quality components using Nanoimprint lithography process. Nanoscale indents can be used to make the cells for molecular electronics and drug delivery, slots for integration into nanodevices, and defects for tailoring the structure and properties. In this study, formability of polymethylmetacrylate(PMMA) and polycarbonate(PC) were characterized Polymer has extreme variation in thermo mechanical variation during forming high temperature. Because of heating the polymer, it becomes softer than at room temperature. In this case it is particularly important to study high temperature-induced mechanical properties of polymer. Nanoindenter XP(MTS) was used to measure thermo mechanical properties of PMMA and PC. Polymer was heated by using the heating stage on NanoXP. At CSM(Continuous Stiffness Method) mode test, heating temperature was $110^{\circ}C,120^{\circ}C,130^{\circ}C,140^{\circ}C$ and $150^{\circ}C$ for PMMA, $140^{\circ}C,150^{\circ}C,160^{\circ}C,170^{\circ}C$ and $180^{\circ}C$ for PC, respectively. Maximum indentation depth was 2000nm. At basic mode test, heating temperature was $90^{\circ}C$ and $110^{\circ}C$ for PMMA, $140^{\circ}C,160^{\circ}C$ for PC. Maximum load was 10mN, 20mN and 40mN. Also indented pattern was observed by using SEM and AFM. Mechanical properties of PMMA and PC decreased when temperature increased. Decrease of mechanical properties from PMMA went down rapidly than that of PC.

  • $ZrO_2$ films were coated on aluminum etching foil by the sol-gel method to apply $ZrO_2$ as a dielectric material in an aluminum(Al) electrolytic capacitor. $ZrO_2$ films annealed above $450^{\circ}C$ appeared to have a tetragonal structure. The withdrawal speed during dip-coating, and the annealing temperature, influenced crack-growth in the films. The $ZrO_2$ films annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ exhibited a dielectric constant of 33 at 1 kHz. Also, uniform $ZrO_2$ tunnels formed in Al etch-pits $1{\mu}m$ in diameter. However, $ZrO_2$ film of 100-200 nm thickness showed the withstanding voltage of 15 V, which was unsuitable for a high-voltage capacitor. In order to improve the withstanding voltage, $ZrO_2$-coated Al etching foils were anodized at 300 V. After being anodized, the $Al_2O_3$ film grew in the directions of both the Al-metal matrix and the $ZrO_2$ film, and the $ZrO_2$-coated Al foil showed a withstanding voltage of 300 V. However, the capacitance of the $ZrO_2$-coated Al foil exhibited only a small increase because the thickness of the $Al_2O_3$ film was 4-5 times thicker than that of $ZrO_2$ film.

  • The material processing by using ultrashort pulse laser, in recently, is actively applying into the micro machining and nano-machining technology since ultrashort pulse has so faster than the time which the electrons energy absorbing photon energy is transmitted to surrounding lattice-phonon that it has many advantages in point of machining. The micro machining of metallic thin film on the plain glass is widely used in the fields such as mask repairing for semiconductor, fabrication of photonic crystal, MEMS devices and data storage devices. Therefore, it is important to secure the machining technology of the sub-micron size. In this research, we set up the machining system by using ultrashort pulse laser and conduct on the Cr 200nm thin film ablation experiments of spot and line with the variables such as energy, pulse number, speed, and so on. And we observed the characteristics of surrounding heat-affected zone and by-products appeared in critical energy density and higher energy density through SEM, and also examined the machining features between in He gas atmosphere which make pulse change minimized by nonlinear effect and in the air. Finally, the pit size of 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ diameter and the line width of 1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ could be obtained.

  • To improve the optical and electrical properties of commercialized GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs), many methods are suggested. In recent years, great efforts have been made to improve the internal quantum efficiency and light extraction efficiency (LEE) and promising approaches are suggested using a patterned sapphire substrate (PSS), V-pit embedded LED structures, and silica nanostructures. In this study, we report on the enhancement of photoluminescence (PL) intensity in GaN-based LED structures by using the combination of SiO2 (silica) nanospheres and polystyrene/SiO2 core-shell nanospheres. The SiO2 nanospheres-coated LED structure shows the slightly increased PL intensity. Moreover the polystyrene/SiO2 core-shell nanospheres-coated structure shows the more increase of PL intensity comparing to that of only SiO2 spheres-coated structure and the conventional structure without coating of nanospheres. The Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation results show corresponding result with experimentally observed results. The mechanism of enhancement of PL intensity using the coating of polystyrene/SiO2 core-shell nanospheres on LED surface can be explained by the improvement in extraction efficiency by both increasing the probability of light escape by reducing Fresnel reflection and by multiple scattering within the core-shell nanospheres.
