Hydroxyapatite (HA), which is an important calcium phosphate mineral, has been applied in orthopedics, dentistry, and many other fields depending upon its morphology. HA can be synthesized with different morphologies through controlling the synthesis method and several parameters. Here, we synthesize various morphologies of HA using two simple methods: hydrothermal combustion and solution combustion. The phase purity of the synthesized HA is confirmed using X-ray diffractometry. It demonstrates that pure phased hydroxyapatite can be synthesized using both methods. The morphology of the synthesized powder is examined using scanning electron microscopy. The effects of pH and temperature on the final powder are also investigated. At $140^{\circ}C$, using the hydrothermal method, nano-micro HA rods with a hexagonal crystal structure can be synthesized, whereas using solution combustion method at $600^{\circ}C$, a dense cubic morphology can be synthesized, which exhibits monoclinic crystal structures.

Initiation of crack and its growth simulation requires accurate model of traction - separation law. Accurate modeling of traction-separation law remains always a great challenge. Atomistic simulations based prediction has great potential in arriving at accurate traction-separation law. The present paper is aimed at establishing a method to address the above problem. A method for traction-separation law prediction via utilizing atomistic simulations data has been proposed. In this direction, firstly, a simpler approach of common neighbor analysis (CNA) for the prediction of crack growth has been proposed and results have been compared with previously used approach of threshold potential energy. Next, a scheme for prediction of crack speed has been demonstrated based on the stable crack growth criteria. Also, an algorithm has been proposed that utilizes a variable relaxation time period for the computation of crack growth, accurate stress behavior, and traction-separation atomistic law. An understanding has been established for the generation of smoother traction-separation law (including the effect of free surface) from a huge amount of raw atomistic data. A new curve fit has also been proposed for predicting traction-separation data generated from the molecular dynamics simulations. The proposed traction-separation law has also been compared with the polynomial and exponential model used earlier for the prediction of traction-separation law for the bulk materials.
We fabricated thermal evaporated 10 nm-Ni/(poly)Si and 10 nm-Ni/1 nm-Ir/(poly)Si films to investigate the thermal stability of nickel monosilicide at the elevated temperatures by rapid annealing them at the temperatures of $300{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ for 40 seconds. Silicides for salicide process was formed on top of both the single crystal silicon actives and the polycrystalline silicon gates. A four-point tester is used for sheet resistance. Scanning electron microscope and field ion beam were employed for thickness and microstructure evolution characterization. An x-ray diffractometer and an auger depth profile scope were used for phase and composition analysis, respectively. Nickel silicides with iridium on single crystal silicon actives and polycrystalline silicon gates showed low resistance up to $1200^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$, respectively, while the conventional nickel monosilicide showed low resistance below $700^{\circ}C$. The grain boundary diffusion and agglomeration of silicides led to lower the NiSi stable temperature with polycrystalline silicon substrates. Our result implies that our newly proposed Ir added NiSi process may widen the thermal process window for nano CMOS process.
Domain structure and polarization switching in (001)-oriented $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-x%PbTiO_3$ (PMN-x%PT) crystals for x=20 and 35at% have been investigated in-situ by scanning force microscope (SFM) in a piezoresponse mode under a step DC electrical voltage. In the initial annealed condition, polar nano domains (PND) and domain striations oriented along {110} were observed in x=20 and x=35, respectively. For x=20, domain switching occurs by heterogeneous nucleation, where nucleation is not confined in the vicinity of domain boundaries, but rather can occur throughout the crystal volume. However, for x=35, domain switching tends to be preferentially initiated near pre-existing twin boundaries. With increasing the applying voltage, the nuclei density increased and assembled into {110} striations, indicating a stress-accommodated domain growth process. At higher voltage, nucleation occurs heterogeneously throughout the crystal volume.
Technical demands for aspheric glass lens formed in market increases its application from simple camera lens module to fiber optics connection module in optical engineering. WC is often used as a metal core of the aspheric glass lens, but the long life time is issued because it fabricated in high temperature and high pressure environment. High hard thin film coating of lens core increases the core life time critically. Diamond Like Carbon(DLC) thin film coating shows very high hardness and low surface roughness, i.e. low friction between a glass lens and a metal core, and thus draw interests from an optical manufacturing industry. In addition, DLC thin film coating can removed by etching process and deposit the film again, which makes the core renewable. In this study, DLC films were deposited on the SiC ceramic core. The process variable in FVA(Filtered Vacuum Arc) method was the substrate bias-voltage. Deposited thin film was evaluated by raman spectroscopy, AFM and nano indenter and measured its crystal structure, surface roughness, and hardness. After applying optimum thin film condition, the life time and crystal structure transition of DLC thin film was monitored.
[ $R_{1/3}Sr_{2/3}FeO_{3}$ ](R=Pr, Nd, and Sm) was synthesized and their magnetic properties and charge ordering(CO) transition related with lattice dynamics and oxygen vacancy were systematically investigated. The charge disproportion ation(CD) in $R_{1/3}Sr_{2/3}FeO_{3}$(R=Pr,Nd) was in which two kins of iron with valence state $Fe^{3+}$ and $Fe^{5+}$ were found with ratio of 2:1. In this charge ordering state a sequence of $Fe^{3+}Fe^{3+}Fe^{5+}Fe^{3+}Fe^{3+}Fe^{5+}$ exists aligned along the [111] direction of the pseudocubic perovskite structure. The charge ordering exist in distorted structure involving $t_{pd}$ hybridization. The disordering phases coexist in distorted structure as temprature in creases that is controlled amount of oxygen vacancy. The magnetic hyperfine fields indicate charge tranfering temperature as it dissapeared drastically.
In this paper, we propose an in-plane switching (IPS) mode for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that, in principle, is free of retardation of the LC cell. Basically, the optical configuration of the LC cell consists of an A-plate and an LC layer for switching between the dark and bright states. We could achieve a fast response time compared with the conventional in-plane LC cell because the free retardation condition of the proposed LC cell enables us to reduce the cell gap even by quarter-wave retardation without any change of the optimized LC material in the transmissive mode. Experiments for verification of the proposed in-plane switching LC cells have shown a significant reduction of the rising time and falling time simultaneously due to the small cell gap. Furthermore, we also proposed an optical configuration for wide viewing property of the retardation free IPS LCD by applying the optical films. We proved the wide-view property of the retardation free IPS LCD by comparing its optical luminance with the calculated optical property of the conventional IPS LCD.
Thin film has been an increasing important subject of intensive research, owing to the fact that these films possess desirable optical, electrical and electrochemical properties for uses in many semi-conducting nano-crystal applications, such as light-emitting diodes, lasers and solar cell applications. Here, ZnSe thin films were deposited by electrochemical method for the applications of light emitting diode. Electrochemical deposition of ZnSe thin film is not easy, because of the high difference of reduction potential between zinc ion and selenium acid. In order to handle the band gap of ZnSe crystal thin films easily, electrochemical methods are promising to manufacture these films economically. Therefore we have investigated the present study to characterize zinc selenide thin films deposited on ITO glass plates electrochemically. The luminescent properties of ZnSe films have been evaluated by UV-Vis spectrometer and luminescence spectrometer. And the morphology of the film surface has been discussed qualitatively from SEM images.
Molecular self-assembled of surfactant viologen are of recent interest because they can from functional electrodes as well as micellar assemblies, which can be profitably utilized for display devices, photoelectrochemical studies and electrocatalysis as electron acceptor or electron mediator. Fromherz et al studied the self-assembly of thiol and disulfide derivatives of viologens bearing long n-alkyl chains on Au electrode surface. The electrochemical behavior of self-assembled viologen monolayer has been investigated with QCM, which has been known as nano-gram order mass detector. The self-assembly process of viologen was monitored using resonant frequency$({\Delta}F)$ and resonant resistance(R). The redox process of viologen was observed with resonant frequency $({\Delta}F)$.
In the era of smart manufacturing, precise prediction of springback-a common issue in ultra-thin sheet metal forming- and forming limits are critical for ensuring high-quality production and minimizing waste. This paper presents a novel approach that leverages the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to enhance springback and forming limits prediction accuracy. By integrating IoT-enabled sensors and devices, real-time data on material properties, forming conditions, and environmental factors are collected and transmitted to a central processing unit. This data serves as the input for an ANN model, which is trained with crystal plasticity simulations and experimental data to predict springback with high precision. Our proposed system not only provides continuous monitoring and adaptive learning capabilities but also facilitates real-time decision-making in manufacturing processes. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in prediction accuracy compared to traditional methods, highlighting the potential of IoT and ANN integration in advancing smart manufacturing. This approach promises to revolutionize quality control and operational efficiency in the industry, paving the way for more intelligent and responsive manufacturing systems.
