  • Nanoporous organosilicate thin films were realized by the microphase separation of pore generating components mixed with an organosilicate matrix. The refractive index of such nanoporous organosilicate films can be tuned in the range of $1.40{\sim}1.22$. With a nanoporous single layer with n ${\sim}1.225,\;99.85\;%$ transmittance in the visible range was achieved. In order to overcome the limitation on the narrow wavelength for high transmittance imposed by single nanoporous thin films, bilayer thin films with different reflectance for each layer were prepared by inserting high refractive index layer with a refractive index of 1.447. It is demonstrated that the novel broadband antireflection coating with improved transmittance can be easily achieved by the nanoporous bilayer thin films described in present study.

  • The toner type paper-like display (PLD) has been developed with two polymer particles having opposite polarity which is composed of polymer, colorant and external additives (nano-sized silica). Nano-sized silica with triboelectric charge was used for the charge control agent (CCA) and influenced on the electrostatic properties of the silica-coated polymer particles. The PLD cell using silica-coated particles (200 seconds) had shown a good white appearance and low driving voltage. The result could be explained in terms of the surface morphology and the cohesiveness depending on the silica coating time.

  • The protective layer of AC-PDP was fabricated by laminating an MgO green sheet. The MgO green sheet was made by coating MgO solution composed of solvent, dispersant, binder, and MgO nano-powder. The MgO solution was coated by the die casting method on the base film. We fabricated three kinds of MgO green sheets of which thicknesses were 20, 28, and $40\;{\mu}m$, respectively. The MgO nano-powder showed lower CL intensity and ${\gamma}i$ than the e-beam MgO. The MgO green sheet applied panels showed low luminance and current density. The efficiency was almost same as the conventional e-beam MgO panel.

  • Phase contrast imaging in atomic force microscopy showed a promise as an effective tool for better understanding of micromechanical properties of surfaces at nano scale. A qualitative estimation model for phase contrast images obtained with a tapping mode AFM was developed. This investigation demonstrated the high efficiency of combined analysis of topography and phase contrast images for characterizing nanosurfaces. Phase contrast images allowed estimation of relative stiffness(elastic modulus) of the sample surface. The phase contrast images revealed a significant inhomogeneity of the nano scale worn surfaces. Phase contrast images are also capable of revealing the formation of tribofilms.

  • New methods of nano sized material and composite coating preparations have been considered on the base of mathematical model of abrasion reaction interaction of milling and grinding bodies in planetary centrifugal mill. The essence of the method is the abrasive and oxidative wear of the milling bodies and amorphous (better inert) additives. Interactions between them has been supplied the necessary impulse of pressure and temperature on the impact frictional contacts and promoted chemical processes. The offered method can find application for such processing as sintering and geological minerals opening.

  • Flame-retardant cotton fabrics were prepared by UV curing of photocurable aqueous formulations of phosphorous-containing methacrylate monomers and 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenyl-1-propanone as flame retardants and a photoinitiator respectively, which is an environmentally friendly and energy-saving process. The characterization of the UV-coated cotton fabric was made by ATR, TGA and limited oxygen index measurement. UV cured coating onto cotton fabrics reduced the first thermal decomposition temperature and mass loss as well as increase in the amount of char residue compared with the untreated cotton fabric presumably due to modified thermal decomposition process. The LOI values up to 28.5 and 27.2 were obtained by the UV curing of MMEP and TMEP respectively. The treatment was durable to five laundering cycles, which was more prominent in the case of trifunctional TMEP treatment.

  • For the micro conductive line, memory device fabrication process use many expensive processes such as manufactur-ing of photo mask, coating of photo resist, exposure, development, and etching. However, direct printing technology has the merits about simple and cost effective processes because nano-metal particles contained inks are directly injective without mask. And also, this technology has the advantage about fabrication of fine pattern line on various substrates such as FPCB, PCB, glass, polymer and so on. In this work, we have fabricated the fine and thick metal pattern line on flexible PCB substrate for the next generation electronic circuit using Ag nano-particles contained ink. To improve the line tolerance on flexible PCB, metal lines are fabricated by sequential prinitng method. Sequential printing method has vari-ous merits about fine, thick and high resolution pattern lines without bulge.

  • In this paper, works related to enhancement of the CHF are reviewed in terms of fundamental mechanisms and practical applications. Studies on CHF enhancement in forced convection are divided into two categories, CHF enhancement of internal flow in tubes and enhancement of CHF in the nuclear fuel bundle. Methods of enhancing the CHF of internal flows in tubes include enhancement of the swirl flow using twisted tapes, a helical coil, and a grooved surface; promotion of flow mixing using a hypervapotron; altering the characteristics of the heated surface using porous coatings and nano-fluids; and changing the surface tension of the fluid using additives such as surfactants. In the fuel bundle, mixing vanes or wire wrapped rods can be employed to enhance the CHF by changing the flow distributions. These methods can be applied to practical heat exchange systems such as nuclear reactors, fossil boilers, fusion reactors, etc.

  • Ti-Al-Cr-N thin layer was prepared on Fe-Si thin sheet by arc ion plating to improve corrosion and mechanical properties. The compositions ratios of Fe : Cr : Al : Ti : Si : N of the thin layers at $500^{\circ}C$ was 1.24 : 0.56 : 36.82 : 32.72 : 0.59 : 28.07 [wt.%], respectively. The higher arc ion plating temperature was, the higher corrosion resistance and nano-hardness were observed due to chromium content. Corrosion potential and corrosion rate in artificial sea water of the coating layer were in the range of $-39mV_{SHE}$ and $2mA/cm^2$, respectively. Passivity was not observed in the artificial sea water. Nano-hardnesses of the thin layers was increased by adding Cr from 23.6 to 25.8 [GPa]. The friction coefficients and fatigue limits of the layers were 0.388, 0.031, respectively.

  • In order to investigate on hydroxyapatite precipitation phenomena on nanotubular Ti-29Nb-xHf ternary alloys, Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys contained (0% to 15%) Hf were manufactured using arc melting furnace. Formation of nanotubular structure was achieved by an electrochemical method in 1M $H_3PO_4$ electrolytes containing 0.8%wt. % NaF. Electrochemical deposition was carried out using cyclic and voltammetry(CV) method at $85^{\circ}C$ in $5mM\;Ca(NO_3)_2+3mM\;NH_4H_2PO_4$. HA coating on nanotube formed Ti-29Nb-xHf ternary alloys showed a good wettability.
