  • Nowadays, efforts are in progress for the standardization of CORBAbased telecommunication network management framework. To implement a network management system based on the framework completely, CORBA ORB and some of CORBA service should be installed in the element. And then, there must be the naming tree, which correspond to the containment relationships between components in the network element. If we use conventional OMG naming service to form the naming tree, all MOs, a software fragmenthat corresponds to each component in a system, should be instantiated. However, the network element is usually a kind of limited resource system, which cannot provide sufficient resources for applications run on it. Hence, instantiatingall MOs can cause problems for that kind of system, This paper presents Smart Naming Service architecture as a solution to the problem.

  • The Naming Service is central to most common object request broker architecture(CORBA) applications. It serves as a directory for CORBA objects-the building blocks of CORBA applications. As the Windows computing environment is disseminated, the performance features of the existing CORBA is becoming of great interest. Thus, in this paper, we intend to examine some performance features of three commercially-available Naming Service implementations of CORBA in strictly Windows (NT and 98) environment.

  • Recently, a lot of researchers focus on the sensor middleware that hide the complexity of application developments and provide the abstraction of functions to upper application layer. Although there we several factors to design sensor middleware, the attribute-based naming is considered to be an essential factor among them. However, most existing researches were not designed to reflect the characteristics of sensor networks and have the limitation of attribute-based query extension. This study adopts the concept of Virtual Counterpart to suggest the structure there attribute-based naming is supported by virtual sensor nodes of the middleware on the sink node. Unlike traditional data-centric middleware in which individual sensor nodes process attribute-based query, virtual sensor nodes mapped to physical sensor nodes are running on the middleware of the sink node and process attribute-based query as a proxy of the physical sensor. This approach enables attribute-based naming independent of physical infrastructure and easy extensibility.

  • Currently, the natural monument system of Korea for naming and designation of natural monuments is based on "Chosun Natural Monument Conservation Acts for Treasure, Ancient Landmark, and Natural Beauty" enacted in 1934 during Japanese colonization period. The framework of natural monument system is still in effect, which is pointed out as a problem. The Dangsan forests and Bibo forests are Korean traditional cultural resources representing countryside of Korea. Cultural Heritage Administration follows and relies on the 'Limsu of Chosun' (1938), a report written by a Japanese, for naming and classification of natural monuments. A Dangsan forest at Yesong-ri was named "Yesong-ri evergreen forest" in 1938. They followed the naming system of "evergeen forest" until today. The objective of this study is to review the issues and problems of 'Limsu of Chosun' and natural monument naming system begun during Japanese occupation period, and suggest an alternative to the current situation where naming natural monument accordingly without discretion. Eighteen dangsan forests bibo forests were selected for examination and analysis. The names of the dangsan forests bibo forests were evaluated to find out whether various aspects of the forests are reflected in the name. The study suggests that many forests and old trees designated as natural monument should be named as "~Dangsan forest", "~Dangsan forest Bibo forest", or "~Dangsan tree" with consistency accordingly. The new names will bring a momentum to overcome the limitation of natural monument naming system continued since Japanese occupation period, and also enhance the value of Dangsan forests and Bibo forests as Korean traditional and cultural landscapes.

  • Content-centric networking (CCN) is a future Internet technology to reorganize the paradigm of end-to-end communication of the current IP-based Internet architecture into a content-based paradigm. In managing such new networks, the network management is one of the most important functions. The standard for typical network management in existing IP networks is Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Though there have been several works to implement network management functions on CCN, they have their own limitations to apply them to pure CCN operational environments. The basic reason of the limitation is that existing methods operate in an IP-overlay structure, or do not support push-type information exchange. In this paper, we propose a new naming structure that can accommodate both pull and push-type SNMP methods for CCN network management with SNMP. Then, methods to support GET and TRAP methods as well as a SET method of SNMP in the pure CCN environment using the proposed naming structure are proposed. We implement the proposed method using CCNx, and construct a CCN network testbed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method by monitoring appropriate exchange of SNMP messages over the testbed.

  • The network management becomes more complicated due to the growth of network technology and introduction of a large number of new multimedia services. TINA has appeared as a concept for the advanced network management system platform using the information technology such as distributed processing and object oriented modeling. Since TINA is on the basis of DPE (Distributed Processing Environment), it can manage networks and services for open telecommunications. In this paper, we propose an implementation strategy of the MIB/MIT to federate various CORBA objects in CORBA based network management system implementing TINA DPE. The proposed strategy is novel in the sense that it can support the distribution of MIB/MIT that is well matched with the distributed component architecture of TINA DPE, and it can also support the scoping and filtering services on the MIT using CORBA Naming Service.

  • The access to web applications has continuously evolved toward the adoption of content centric interfaces. Services and information items are much of user's concern than web sites. For an efficient accommodation of increasing needs of content oriented operations, the scope of domain names is extended in two directions. A naming scheme is derived that is suitable for resource level access units and the semantics of domain names is conceived as very flexible functions. First extension regards the removal of unnecessary TLD's of domain names for resource level binding. Second extension makes the resource level domain names rich in functional binding and consequently various applications can be directly triggered by the invocation of domain names without intervening medium. These extensions may lay a certain direction for the future internet evolution.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the change of Hidden gates form with the times. Fortresses position is constructed on the Korea mountain ranges. Hidden gate, one of facilities to construct fortress among various factors, represents as route of supplies way, ask for rescue, or counterattack plan to come in. The shape of hidden gate changes depend on land form, function, and time period. Previous research partially based on archeology or history. This research analyze Namhan mountain Namhansansung, one of the highest hidden gates count in Korea, distributive by main fortress, Bong-am fortress, Hanbong fortress. Nahhan Mountain fortress repeatedly affected by King Injo in Joseon Dynasty. As a result, Nahhan Mountain fortress consist of hidden gates alternation depend on the time of establishment or extension which makes different shape or size.

  • In recent years, distributed computing environments have been radically changing to a structure of global, heterogeneous, federative and wide-area systems. This structure's environments consist of a let of objects which are implemented on telecommunication network to provide a wide range of services. Furthermore, all of objects existing on the earth have the duplicated characteristics according to how to categorize their own names or properties. But, the existing naming or trading mechanism has not supported the binding services of duplicated objects, because of deficiency of independent location service. Also, if the duplicated objects which is existing on different nodes provide the same service, it is possible to distribute the client requests considering each system's load. For this reason, we designed and implemented a new model that can not only support the location management of replication objects, but also provide the dynamic binding service of objects located in a system with minimum overload for maintaining load balancing among nodes in wide-area object computing environments. Our model is functionally divided into two parts; one part is to obtain an unique object handle of replicated objects with same property as a naming and trading service, and the other is to search one or more contact addresses by a location service using a given object handle. From a given model mentioned above, we present the procedures for the integrated binding mechanism in design phase, that is, Naming/Trading Service and Location Service. And then, we described in details the architecture of components for Integrated Binding Service implemented. Finally, we showed our implement environment and executing result of our model.

  • This study intended to provide basic data for the future naming of outdoor areas in apartment complexes by conducting research into the causes, lengths of time, trends, and characteristics of the changes of outdoor space names of apartment complexes and by analyzing current images of outdoor space names. In order to explore the causes and intervals of changes of outdoor spaces in apartment complexes, related literature was surveyed, with on-site inspections being made to examine outdoor space names by time intervals. At the site selected for this study, a case study was conducted to determine the outdoor space names and to understand the trends in the changes of these name in the apartment complexes. Moreover, a questionnaire survey incorporating selected adjectives was administered to investigate the perceived images of outdoor space names and finished construction spaces. The results are as follows: 1. Causes driving changes in apartment outdoor space names included changes in apartment complex planning concepts, changes in the values and demands of apartment buyers, social values, and changes of brand. Intervals of changes were divided into two with the 1997 IMF financial restructuring of the Korean economy as the division. 2. In regards to trends in changes of apartment outdoor space names and their characteristics, various features applied to spaces have caused many changes, which resulted in the phrase $'\bigcirc\;\bigcirc+garden'$, expressions suggesting various images, and Korean names. 3. The results of the analysis of apartment outdoor space names and finished construction images revealed that there was a difference in all the spaces. This is thought to be mainly due to such issues as paved min, the use of ready-made goods, and figurative expressions. The results of the study above indicate that changes in outdoor space names of apartment complexes have been made simply as part of marketing strategies, with no consideration of the residents. Apartments, an important means of housing in Korea, account for more than 50% of Korea's total housing, and the naming of outdoor space serves as an essential element for residents. Therefore, outdoor spaces of apartment complexes should be named in consideration of the final appearance after construction is completed, with effort by the industry being required.
