  • NOx is an important air pollution material which is generated when fossil fuels are burning, NOx removal in flue gas by selective catalytic reduction was studied over various catalysts in a fixed bed continuous flow reactor. The ranges of experimental conditions were at the temperatures between $200^\circ$C and $350^\circ$C, the $NH_3/NOx$ mole ratios between 0.8 and 1.4, oxygen concentrations between 1.5% and 3% and the space velocities between 5, 000 $hr^-1$ and 12, 500 $hr^-1$. The efficiency of NOx removal in the ranges of experimental conditions was highest at the temp. of 300$^\circ$C, oxygen concentration of 2.5-2.6% and $NH_3/NOx$ mole ratios of 1.0-1.2. The catalyst with high activity for NOx removal in flue gas was found to be $MoO_3-V_2O_5/TiO_2$.

  • To remove harmful gases from combustion exhaust gases. fundamental study on NOx removal using pulse corona discharge has been performed through experiments and simulations. The energy consumption should be decreased in order to apply non-thermal plasma technology to industry process. This work summarized the effects of $H_2O$ and Hydrocarbon additive in NOx removal efficiency. The Radical program is used to simulate high voltage discharge and the process of NOx removal. At last, experimental results were compared with simulation results to verify the reliability of this program.

The NOx removal efficiency significantly increasing with increasing applied voltage. Especially removal rate significantly increased with increasing frequency. However, in this experiment discharged poler n relatively high.

  • In this paper, the NO was oxidized $NO_2$ by using the non-thermal plasma and NOx removal characteristics were measured by showering NaOH water-solution to $NO_2$. The NO oxidation increased in the order of DC, AC, and Pulse. NOx oxidation for two stage with applied voltage was better than that for one stage with applied voltage. NO oxidation didn't depend on applied voltage. While NO oxidation was going on, NOx removal efficiency was 20-25%, however, significantly depended on the injection method of air and $H_2O$ + air. When NaOH water-solution density of 20% was showered to flue gases, NOx removal efficiency increased to 64%.

  • Removal teals of Soxmox were performed using low density ceramic filters doped with various catalysts. Disc type (50 mmO.Dx10 mmt) low density ceramic filters were doped with three different catalysts such as Cu to remove SOx and NOx, and Mn and Co to remove NOx. The air permeabilities and specific surface areas were 40~50cc/min.cm2.cmH2O and 4.1~8.88 m2/g, respectively. Also, the peak pore sizes of catalyst support were 3~5nm. Tests were focused to search optimum operating temperatures for different catalysts. It was found that as the CuO content increases, SOx removal efficiency was increased. NOx removal efficiencies for Mn, Cu and Co, were 85% at 30$0^{\circ}C$, 90% at 40$0^{\circ}C$ and 90% at 45$0^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • A comparative investigation of an experimental and a simulation of chemical kinetics for NOx removal from silent(dielectric-barrier) discharges is presented. Several types of dielectric-barrier discharges were implemented depending upon the configuration of electrodes. The simulation was based on an approximate mathematical model for plasma cleaning of waste gas. The influence of non-uniform distributions of species due to the production of primary active particles in the streamer channel was taken into account. A comparison of observed experimental to the calculated removal efficiency of NOx showed acceptable agreement.

  • In order to increase the usability of H2-SCR, the NOx removal characteristics with catalyst powder of PtNi/CeO2-W-TiO2 using Ce as a co-catalyst was synthesized and coated on a porous metal structure (PMS) were evaluated. Catalyst powder of PtNi/CeO2-W-TiO2(PtNi nanoparticles onto W-TiO2, with the incorporation of ceria (CeO2) as a co-catalysts) was synthesized and coated onto a porous metal structure (PMS) to produce a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst. H2-SCR with CeO2 as a co-catalyst exhibited higher NOx removal efficiency compared to H2-SCR without CeO2. Particularly, at a 10wt% CeO2 loading ratio, the NOx removal efficiency was highest at 90℃. As the amount of catalyst coating on PMS increased, the NOx removal efficiency was improved below 90℃, but it was decreased above 120℃. When the space velocity was changed from 4,000 h-1 to 20,000 h-1, the NOx removal efficiency improved at temperatures above 120℃. It was expected that the use of the catalyst could be reduced by applying the PMS with excellent specific surface area as a support.

  • The SNCR-SCR (selective non-catalytic reduction-selective catalytic reduction) hybrid system is an economical NOx removal system. In this study, the effect of the operating parameters of the SNCR-SCR hybrid system on NOx removal efficiency was investigated. When the SNCR reactor was operated at a temperature lower than the optimum temperature ($900{\sim}950^{\circ}C$), an additional NO removal is obtained basesd on the utilization of $NH_3$ slip. On the other hand, the SNCR reactor operated above the temperature resulted in no additional NO removal of SCR due to decomposition of $NH_3$. Therefore, the SNCR process should be operated at optimum temperature to obtain high NO removal efficiency and low $NH_3$ slip. Thus, it is important to adjust NSR (normalized stoichiometric ratio) so that $SR_{RES}$ can be maintained at an appropriate level.

  • In this experimental study we Proposed the double dielectric barrier discharge (DDBD) reactor to produce as high an electric field as possible. The experiment are conducted for applied voltage from 15 to 20[tV], flow gas rage at 2[1/min] and pulse rate at 120[pulses/s] and 240[pulses/s]. SPD connection of DDBD which combine the surface discharge with the silence discharge was most effective to reduce the NOx. In the decomposition efficiency per watt, the low pulse rate gave hotter efficiency than that of the high pulse rate. However in DeNOx rate, the high pulse rate gave better performance than that of the low pulse rate. NOx removal rate increased with increasing the applied voltage in all reactors.
