In this study, NMO (Natural Manganese Ore), $MnO_2$, and $Mn_2O_3$ catalysts were used in the selective catalytic reduction process to remove nitrogen oxides (NOx) using $NH_3$ as a reducing agent at low temperatures in the presence of oxygen. In the case of the NMO (Natural Manganese Ore), it was confirmed that the conversion of nitrogen oxides in the stability test did not change even after 100 hours at 423 K. The Kinetics experiments were carried out within the range where heat and mass transfer were not factors. From a steady-state Kinetics study, it was found that the low-temperature SCR reaction was zero order with the respect to $NH_3$ and 0.41 ~ 0.57 order with the respect to NO and 0.13 ~ 0.26 order with the respect to $O_2$. As temperature increases, the reaction order decreases as a result of $NH_3$ and oxygen concentration. It was confirmed that the reaction between the $NH_3$ dissociated and adsorbedon the catalyst surface and the gaseous nitrogen monoxide (E-R model) and the reaction with the adsorbed nitrogen monoxide (L-H model) occur.

Deactivation of SCR catalyst applied in Orimusion fuel power plant was investigated to develope the technique for the regeneration of deactivated SCR catalyst and optimize the operation of SCR facility. The characterization study of the catalysts was carried out using XRD, ICP-AES, SEM and EDS. The NO$_X$ removal activity and SO$_2$ oxidation activity of the catalysts were measured. The NO$_X$ conversion of the deactivated catalyst was 5$\sim$10% lower than that of the fresh catalyst and the value of SO$_2$conversion to SO$_3$ over the deactivated catalyst was about 0.59% higher than that of the fresh catalyst. Vanadium(V), Magnesium(Mg) and Sulfur(S) were largely accumulated in the deactivated catalyst. The accumulation of Vanadium(V) and Sulfur(S) is due to the components of the Orimulsion fuel and the accumulation of Magnesium(Mg) is due to MgO that is injected in the boiler to prevent the oxidation of SO$_2$ to SO$_3$. The diffraction line of the TiO$_2$ of the deactivated catalyst was identified as the crystalline peaks of anatase as the fresh catalyst.
Biogas is a carbon neutral energy and consists of mostly methane and carbon dioxide, with smaller amounts of water vapor, and trace amounts of $H_2S$, Siloxane and other impurities. Hydrogen sulfide and Siloxane usually must be removed before the gas can be used for generation of electricity or heat. The goals of this project are to develope the Fuel conditioning system of Land Fill Gas for 30kW-Micro Gas Turbine co-generation system. The fuel conditioning system mainly consists of $H_2S$ removal system, Land Fill Gas compressor, Siloxane removal system and many filtering systems. The fuel requirement of 30kW MGT is at least 32% of $CH_4$, $H_2S$ (<30 ppm), Siloxane (<5ppb) and supply pressure (> 0.6 MPa) from LFG compressor. Main mechnical charateristics of Micro Gas Turbine system by using LFG have the specific performance; 1) high speed turbine speed (96,000 rpm) 2) very clean emmission NOx (<9 ppm) 3) high efficiency of energy conversion rate. This paper focuses on the development of design technology for LFG fuel conditioning system. The study also has the plan to replace the fuel of gas turbine and other distributed power systems. As the increase of Land Fill Gas (LFG), this system help to contribute to spread more New & Renewable Energy and the establishment of Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) for Korea.
In this study, adsorption properties of oxidized NO by plasma using aminated polyolefin-g-GMA hybrid anion exchange fibers were investigated. The maximum conversion of $NO_2$ by plasma was 49% at the conditions of 200 ppm NO, 10% $O_2$ and 30 L/min of flow rate. The adsorption content for N02 of hybrid anion exchange fibers increased with increasing the swelling ratio and the highest value was 1.5 g $H_2O/g$ IEF. The adsorption of $NO_2$ by hybrid anion exchange fibers were very fast until 10 min and reached its maximum value of 80% at 120 min. Ion exchange capacity of hybrid anion exchange fibers increased with increasing the swelling ratio and it showed the highest 0.6 mmol/g IEF values at L/D=5. The adsorption isotherm model for hybrid anion exchange fibers were closer to Freundlich than Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. It was shown that adsorption of the multi-molecular layer was dominant.
Efficient L-lactic acid production from Jerusalem artichoke tubers, by Lactobacillus casei G-02, using simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) in a fed-batch culture, is demonstrated. A kinetic analysis of the SSF revealed that the inulinase activity was subjected to product inhibition, whereas the fermentation activity of G-02 was subjected to substrate inhibition. It was also found that the intracellular NADH oxidase (NOX) activity was enhanced by the citrate metabolism, which dramatically increased the carbon flux of the Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas (EMP) pathway, along with the production of ATP. As a result, when the SSF was carried out at $40^{\circ}C$ after an initial hydrolysis of 1 h and included a sodium citrate supplement of 10 g/l, an L-lactic acid concentration of 141.5 g/l was obtained after 30 h, with a volumetric productivity of 4.7 g/l/h. The conversion efficiency and product yield were 93.6% of the theoretical lactic acid yield and 52.4 g lactic acid/l00 g Jerusalem artichoke flour, respectively. Such a high concentration of lactic acid with a high productivity from Jerusalem artichokes has not been reported previously, making G-02 a potential candidate for the economic production of L-lactic acid from Jerusalem artichokes on a commercial scale.

The performance of disk-type catalytic filters impregnated by TiO$_2$ or TiO$_2$-3Al$_2$O$_3$ㆍ 2SiO$_2$ supports and V$_2$O$_{5}$ catalyst was evaluated for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with ammonia as a reductant. XRD, FT -IR, BET and SEM were used to characterize the catalytic filters prepared in this work. Optimal V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading and reaction temperature for V$_2$O$_{5}$/TiO$_2$ catalytic filters were 3-6 wt.% and 350-40$0^{\circ}C$ at GHSV 14,300 $hr^{-1}$ in the presence of oxygen, respectively. With increasing the V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading from 0.5 to 6 wt%, NO conversion increased from 24 to 96% at 40$0^{\circ}C$ and 14.300$hr^{-1}$, and maintained at 80% over in the V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading range of 3-6 wt.% and then dropped at V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading of 7wt.% over. In comparing V$_2$O$_{5}$/ TiO$_2$ and V$_2$O$_{5}$/ TiO$_2$-3Al$_2$O$_3$ㆍ2SiO$_2$ catalytic fillers, which have same 3wt.% V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading, the V$_2$O$_{5}$/ TiO$_2$-3A1$_2$O$_3$ㆍ2SiO$_2$ catalytic filter showed higher activity than V$_2$O$_{5}$/ TiO$_2$ catalytic filter, but higher differential pressure drops owing to its low air permeability. low air permeability.
For investigating NO reduction activity of an catalytic filter, the catalytic performance was measured under the presence of $SO_2$ and $H_2O$, respectively or simultaneously in the simulation gas composed of NO, $NH_3$, and air. The catalytic filter was prepared by coating $V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2$ catalyst on the pore surface of SiC filter element of which the superior performance for the particulate removal was well known. At the temperature below $260^{\circ}C$, the catalytic activities were enormously decreased under the presence of $SO_2$ and $H_2O$, respectively or simultaneously, compared with those under the cases of the absence of $SO_2$ and $H_2O$. However, the presence of $SO_2$ promoted the performance of the catalytic filter above $320^{\circ}C$ with showing the NO conversion better than 99.8% for the NO inlet concentration of 500 ppm and at the face velocity of 2 cm/s. In particular, the presence of water showed high NO conversion higher than 99% up to high temperature of $380^{\circ}C$. This effect of water was explained by the reason that it retarded the ammonia oxidation which is the main step into the formation of $N_2O$. The initial NO reduction activity of the catalytic filter maintained for the duration of 100 hours in the presence of $SO_2$ and $H_2O$. Therefore, it was concluded that the catalytic filter was promisingly useful for the industrial NOx reduction catalyst in order to treat the particulate and NO simultaneously.

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is one of the six greenhouse gases, and it is essential to reduce N2O by showing a global warming potential (GWP) equivalent to 310 times that of carbon dioxide (CO2). Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is a technology that converts ammonia into harmless N2 and H2O by using ammonia as a reducing agent to remove NOx, one of the air pollutants; the process also produces high denitrification efficiency. In this study, the Fe-BEA catalyst was steam-treated at 100 ℃ for 2 h before Fe ion exchange in the fixed bed reactor in order to investigate the effect of the steam-treated Fe-BEA catalyst on the NH3-SCR reaction. NH3-SCR reaction test of synthesized catalysts was performed at WHSV = 180 h-1, 370 to 400 ℃ in the fixed bed reactor. The Fe-BEA(100) catalyst steam-treated at 100 ℃ showed a somewhat higher activity than the Fe-BEA catalyst at 370 to 390 ℃. The catalysts were characterized by BET, ICP, NH3-TPD, H2-TPR, and 27Al MAS NMR in order to determine the cause affecting NH3-SCR activity. The H2-TPR result confirmed that the Fe-BEA(100) catalyst had a higher reduction of isolated Fe3+ than the Fe-BEA catalyst, and that the steam treatment increased the amount of isolated Fe3+ as an active species, thus increasing the activity.

Despite the limitations and difficulty in the application of CALINE3 model for air dispersion prediction of roads and tunnels construction businesses in South Korea, the model is being used in all roads construction projects. This study compared the predicted values of CALINE3 and AERMOD model that is suggested by the US EPA, to the values of GRAL model, a Lagrangian particle tracking model developed in Europe, by applying the models to the existing roads of the urban areas. The result showed low relevance to the actual measurement value in the case of CALINE3 model, thus displaying a low trusted value when applying to the urban areas. In the case of using AERMOD model, the predicted values were overly expressed compared to the actual measurement value, thus leading to the need of adding a No2 conversion method to the model in the future. In the case of GRAL model, a Lagrangian particle tracking model, the relevance between the actual and predicted values were high as the model considers the surrounding topography and the buildings all together, thus confirming that the model can be used for air dispersion prediction of the roads in the urban areas. Lastly, the result of this study testing the air prediction models in Jeongneung Measuring Station points that it is necessary for the future studies to expand the testing areas and test the validity of the models continuously.
