A study on the structural and electric properties of fluorinated $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ (불소화된 $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ 초전도체의 구조적, 전기적 성질에 관한 연구)

  • The structural and electric properties of $Y_{1-x}$YbF$_{x}$Ba$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O$_{7-y}$(x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6) have been investigated by using XRD(X-ray diffraction), TMA(thennomechanical analysis), NMR(nuclear magnetic resonance) analysis and four probe method. $Y_{1-x}$YbF$_{x}$Ba$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O$_{7-y}$ samples were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction method using $Y_{2}$O$_{3}$, BaCO$_{3}$, CuO and YbF$_{3}$ power. TMA and high temperature XRD results shows that orthorhombic to tetragonal phase transition occurs in the unfluorinated 1-2-3 sample while the phase change is not observed in the fluorinated 1-2-3 samples. Superconducting transition temperature(T$_{c}$) increases with increasing YbF$_{3}$ content ; T$_{c}$, of the sample reaching maximum of 102K for x=0.3, and then decreases with further increasing YbF$_{3}$ content. The structural analysis and T$_{c}$ results shows that the fluorine doping stabilize the orthorhombic phase, together with the increase in T$_{c}$.}$ c/.TEX> c/.

  • $^13C$ and $^51V$ NMR spectroscopy have been used to study the solution structures of the vanadium (v) complexes formed by ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), trans-cyclohexanediaminetetraacetic acid (CDTA), 1,2-propylenediaminetetraacetic acid (PDTA), ethylenediaminediacetic acid (EDDA), 2-hydroxyethylethylenediaminetriacetic acid (HEDTA), diethylenetriaminepentacetic acid (DPTA), and nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA). All of the complexes probably have octahedral structures containiing cis-$VO_2$ core. The coordination of hydroxylethyl group is found to be less favored than that of acetate group. EDDA forms two isomers, ${\alpha}$-cis and ${\beta}$-cis. PDTA also forms two structural isomers due to the methyl group in the ligand.

  • In this study, (3,4-epoxycyclohexane)methyl 3,4-epoxycyclohexylcarboxylate acrylate was synthesized by reacting (3,4-epoxycyclohexane)methyl 3,4-epoxycyclohexylcarboxylate with acrylic acid to minimize hardening shrinkage and to improve heat resistance, which are known as disadvantages of photopolymers for 3D printing application. Urethane acrylate was synthesized by reacting 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamino alcohol, 2-hexylethyl acrylate, and isophorone diisocyanate in order to improve the mechanical properties without deteriorating the heat resistance. The physical properties before and after the synthesis of the acrylate and the mechanical properties when the urethane acrylate was applied were investigated. The reaction progress of the composite was examined by FTIR and $^{13}C$ NMR. The heat deflection temperature, flexural strength, and surface hardness of the molding were measured. The curing behavior by Photo-DSC ultraviolet irradiation was also examined.

  • HP0894 (SwissProt/TrEMBL ID O25554) is an 88-residue conserved hypothetical protein from Helicobacter pylori strain 26695 with a calculated pI of 8.5 and a molecular weight of 10.38 kDa. Proteins with sequence similarity to HP0894 exist in Vibrio choierae, Enterococcus faecalis, Campylobacter jejuni, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli O157, etc. Here we report the sequence-specific backbone resonance assignments of HP0894. About 97.5% (418/429) of the HN, N, CO, $C{\alpha}$, $C{\beta}$ resonances of the 88 residues of HP0894 were assigned. On the basis of these assignments, three helical regions and four strand regions were identified using the CSI program. This study is a prerequisite for calculating the solution structure of HP0894, and studying its interaction with its substrates, if any, and/or with other proteins.

  • The dichloromethane extracts of the above ground parts of Hymenoxys brachyactis afforded three sesquiterpene lactones already reported, one new sesquiterpene lactone, biennin C and hispidulin as known toxic flavone. Structures of all compounds were established by spectroscopy and biennin C was determined as an adduct of the modified pseudoguanolide and hymenoxon by Gas Chromatograpy and MS spectrometer These sesquiterpene lactones have the same ${\alpha},{\beta}$-unsaturated functional group like that of hymenovin which has been known as major toxic constituent of important livestock poison. And biennin C is also considered as toxic compound because of toxic hymenoxon.

Production, Structural Elucidation, and In Vitro Antitumor Activity of Trehalose Lipid Biosurfactant from Nocardia farcinica Strain

  • The objective of this study was to isolate and identify the chemical structure of a biosurfactant produced by Nocardia farcinica strain BN26 isolated from soil, and evaluate its in vitro antitumor activity on a panel of human cancer cell lines. Strain BN26 was found to produce glycolipid biosurfactant on n-hexadecane as the sole carbon source. The biosurfactant was purified using medium-pressure liquid chromatography and characterized as trehalose lipid tetraester (THL) by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Subsequently, the cytotoxic effects of THL on cancer cell lines BV-173, KE-37 (SKW-3), HL-60, HL-60/DOX, and JMSU-1 were evaluated by MTT assay. It was shown that THL exerted concentration-dependent antiproliferative activity against the human tumor cell lines and mediated cell death by the induction of partial oligonucleosomal DNA fragmentation. These findings suggest that THL could be of potential to apply in biomedicine as a therapeutic agent.

Chelation of Calcium Ions by Poly(${\gamma}$-Glutamic Acid) from Bacillus subtilis (Chungkookjang)

  • Many studies have clarified that poly(${\gamma}$-glutamic acid) (PGA) increases the solubility of $Ca^{2+}$, suggesting that PGA enhances calcium absorption in the small intestine. However, there has been no report on the specific interaction between PGA and $Ca^{2+}$ in water. We studied the aqueous solution properties of PGA calcium salt (PGA-Ca complex). The chelating ability and binding strength of PGA for $Ca^{2+}$ were evaluated. The PGA-Ca complex was soluble in water, in contrast to the insolubility of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) calcium salt, and the chelating ability of PGA for $Ca^{2+}$ was almost the same as that of PAA. The globular conformation of the PGA-Ca complex in water was estimated by SEC and viscosity measurements. The chelation ability of PGA for $Ca^{2+}$ was examined by $^1H$ NMR. The present study showing the characteristics of the PGA-Ca complex will provide useful information about the calcium absorption by PGA in vivo.

  • Aqueous urethane dispersion resin begins to assume commercial importance due to increasing environmental awareness of VOC in coating industry. Moreover there have been strong industrial needs for the development of reactive-type polyurethane flame retardant coatings. In this study, chlorinated polyester polyols were synthesized by two step polycondensation reaction using mono chloroacetic acid, adipic acid, trimethylol propane, and 1,4-butanediol. In the next step polyurethane dispersion was prepared using these chlorinated polyester polyols and isophorone diisocyanate with dimethylol propionic acid(DMPA) and trimethylamine. The structure of chlorinated polyol was characterized by GPC, FT-IR and NMR. Particle size and its distribution were examined in terms of various dispersion parameters including molecular weight and composition of polyol, amount of DMPA, and NCO/OH ratio, etc. The effect of chlorinated polyols on flammability was also evaluated.

Anti-Foaming Properties of Polypropylene Glycol Oleates (올레산 폴리프로필렌글리콜 에스테르류의 소포특성)

  • In this study, by using oleic acid and polypropylene glycol, good natured antifoaming agent for suitable electronics process under the alkaline conditions were synthesized. For the synthesized mono and diesters, acid value, hydroxyl value was measured, and identified by FT-IR and $^1H-NMR$ spectroscopy. Surface properties such as surface tension, critical micelle concentration(cmc) for diluted aqueous solution was measured, and tested the antifoaming properties according to the difference of alkyl chain length, various concentration, temperature and pH. The surface tension of synthesized antifoaming agent, PPMO(Polypropylene glycol monooleate) was 24.3 dyne/cm, PPDO(Polypropylene glycol dioleate) was 23.7 dyne/cm. By increasing of the alkyl chain length, surface tension was decreased slightly, and showed good antifoaming properties at 0.06 wt% concentration and $50^{\circ}C$, pH 11. These synthesized compounds are expected to apply as a suitable antifoaming agents in the semiconductor and the PCB(Printed Circuit Board) manufacturing process.

A Study on the Syntheses of 2-Aminobenzothiazoles and Their Antimicrobial Activities (2-Aminobenzothiazole 유도체의 합성 및 항균작용에 관한 연구)

  • Sixteen compounds of 2-aminobenzothiazole derivatives were synthesized from alkyl ($C_{1-5}$) p-aminosalicylate by thiocyanation reaction. The NMR spectra of synthesized compounds showed that they were actually mixture of 5-hydroxy-6-alk-oxycarbonyl-2-aminobenzothiazole [alkoxy=methoxy(Ia), ethoxy (IIa), n-propoxy (IIIa), iso-propoxy (IVa), n-butoxy (Va), iso-butoxy (VIa), n-amoxy (VIIa), iso-amoxy(VIIIa)] and 7-(1b), ethoxy(IIb), n-propoxy(IIIb), iso-propoxy(IVb), n-butoxy(Vb), iso-butpxy (VIb), n-amoxy (VIIb), iso-amoxy (VIIIb)]. The mixtures of two isomeric benzothiazole were separated by two isomers varied with the kind of alkyl chain in alkyl p-aminosalicylate. These compounds were subjected to the test for antimicrobial activities using Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli by tube dilutioin method. The seven compounds, Ia, IIa, IIIa, VIa, IIIb, IVb and Vb showed inhibition of the growth of S. aureus at the concentration of 10${\mu}$g/ml. As to the growth of E. coli, IVb, VIb, VIIb, and VIIIb were observed inhibition at the concentration of 1${\mu}$g/ml. Ia, IIa, IIIa, VIIa, Va, VIIIa, and IIb exhibited potential antimicrobial activities against showed inhibition of the growth of E.coli at the concentration of 100${\mu}$/ml.
