Using an open-circuit system, we compared the methane ($CH_4$) emission from dry cows fed first-cut Timothy silage ($1^{st}$ TY), second-cut Timothy silage ($2^{nd}$ TY), second-cut Italian ryegrass silage ($2^{nd}$ IR), third-cut Italian ryegrass silage ($3^{rd}$ IR), or second-cut red clover silage ($2^{nd}$ RC) as the sole feed. The methane emission ranged from 258.2 L $day^{-1}$ to 396.5 L $day^{-1}$. The methane emission from dry cows fed red clover silage was relatively lower than that from dry cows fed grass silage. However, the methane emission per unit digestible neutral detergent fiber (NDF) intake (dNDFI) did not differ significantly between the experimental silages. The methane emission was significantly correlated with the NDF intake and digestibility. Methane emission had a significant correlation with the quadratic function of dNDFI. The differences in the daily volume of methane emission from cows fed different forages can be explained by dNDFI.
Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was used to classify normal and artificially aged nonviable corn (Zea mays L., cv. 'Suwon19') seeds. The spectra at 1100-2500nm were scanned with normal and artificially aged single seeds and analyzed by principle component analysis (PCA). To discriminate normal seeds from artificially aged seeds, a calibration modeling set was developed with a discriminant partial least square 2 (PLS 2) method. The calibration model derived from PLS 2 resulted in 100% classification accuracy of normal and artificially aged (aged) seeds from the raw, the 1st and 2nd derivative spectra. The prediction accuracy of the unknown normal seeds was 88, 100 and 97% from the raw, the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ derivative spectra, and that of the unknown aged seeds was 100% from all the raw, the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ derivative spectra, respectively. The results showed a possibility to separate corn seeds into viable and non-viable using NIR spectroscopy.

The magnetic alloy of $Nd_{2}Fe_{14}B$-type was synthesized by a mechano-chemical method, including the processes of spray-drying, de-binding, milling, $H_{2}$- and Ca-reduction and washing. The very fine $Nd_{2}Fe_{14}B$ particles smaller than $1\mu\textrm{m}$ could be achieved without the inevitable pulverization step in conventional processes.
Although, mercury (Hg) is not a naturally abundant element in the environment, residues frequently occur in many environmental compartments because of widespread contamination from industrial and agricultural practices. This research evaluated Hg-B concentrations of general population who was not occupationally exposed. And also evaluates the association between life factor and health effect with Hg-B concentration of general adult through interrelationship estimation and index about kidney function and oxidative damage that appeared by questionnaire survey and medical examination. Average concentration of Hg-B was 3.19 $\mu$g/L (ND$\sim$8.64 $\mu$g/L), and persons who exceed mercury exposure level (5 $\mu$g/L) presented in WHO (1990) appeared by 16 (7.0%). High-risk group (smoking and meat main intake group) had significantly higher Hg-B concentration than low-risk group (non-smoking and vegetable diet main intake group) (p < 0.05, low-risk group: 3.30 $\mu$g/L (ND$\sim$8.64 $\mu$g/L), high-risk group: 4.27 $\mu$g/L (ND$\sim$7.84 $\mu$g/L).
In order to provide data on N-nitrosamine (NA) and sanitation in fish available in domestic markets, this study analyzed the levels of NA and its precursors in 9 samples of sea breams and yellow croakers, 12 samples of red-flesh fish, 38 samples of white fish, 5 samples of Alaska pollacks and cod, and 8 species of imported fish. Sea breams and yellow croakers had nitrite concentrations ranging from non-detectable (ND) to 7.4 mg/kg, red fish ND to 5.3 mg/kg, white fish ND to 18.7 mg/kg, Alaska pollacks 0.3 to 2.2 mg/kg, and imported fish from 0.4 to 12.8 mg/kg. Nitrates in sea breams and yellow croakers ranged from 1.2 to 41.19 mg/kg, red fish 0.6 to 26.1 mg/kg, white fish 4.3 to 75.9 mg/kg, Alaska pollacks 0.4 to 3.1 mg/kg, and imported fish ND to 16.0 mg/kg. DMA concentrations were 69.8 to 219.9 mg/l00 g in sea breams and yellow croakers, 4.1 to 336.3 mg/l00 g in red fish, 1.3 to 331.9 mg/l00 g in white fish, 15.7 to 312.3 mg/l00 g in Alaska pollacks, and 1.0 to 71.8 mg/l00 g in imported fish. TMA concentrations in sea breams and yellow croakers, red fish, white fish, Alaska pollacks and imported fish were 43.8∼496.2, 12.3∼127.0, 2.0∼525.9, 15.4∼122.4, and 4∼70.6 mg/l00 g, respectively. For NA in fish distributed in local markets, only N-nitro-sodimethylamine (NDMA) was detected, and its concentrations ranged from 4.7 to 73.7 $\mu\textrm{g}$/kg in sea breams and yellow croakers, 2.2 to 56.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/kg in red fish, ND to 143 $\mu\textrm{g}$/kg in white fish, 3.8 to 33.3 $\mu\textrm{g}$/kg in Alaska pollacks, and 2.1 to 102.2 $\mu\textrm{g}$/kg in imported fish.
Effect of Cu content on microstructural and magnetic properties of a $(Nd_{26.06},Dy_{6.51})Fe_{bal.}$$Cu_xB_{0.97}$(wt.%), (x = 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) strip-cast was studied. The average inter-lamellar spacing in the free surface and wheel side of the strip cast increased as the Cu content increases. The grain uniformity, the grain alignment, and (00L) texture of the strip cast increased with Cu contents up to 0.4 wt.%. These microstructural changes were attributed to the decrease of the effective cooling rate of the melted alloy caused by the decrease of the melting temperature of resulting from Cu addition. Coercivity and remanence were increased because of the grain alignment and (00L) texture improvement with Cu contents up to 0.4 wt.%.
lTO(Indium-Tin-Oxide) was used as anode material for OLED. Characteristics of ITO have great effect on efficiency of OLEDS(Organic light emitting diodes). ITO surface was treated by Nd:YAG laser in order to improve its chemical properties, wettability, adhesive property and to remove the surface contaminants while maintaining its original function. In this study, main purpose was to improve the efficiency of OLEDs by the ITO surface treatment: ITO surface was treated using a Nd:YAG(${\lambda}=266nm$, pulse) with a fixed power of 0.06[w] and various stage scanning velocities. Surface morphology of the ITO was investigated by AFM. Test OLEDs with surface treated ITO were fabricated by deposition of TPD (HTL), Ald3 (ETL/TML) and Al (cathode) thin films. Device performance of the OLEDs such as V-I-L was investigated using Source Measurement Unit (SMU: Keithly. Model 2400) and Luminance Measurement (TOPCON. BM-8).
Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius L.) with strain LBA 4404 containing a rice thaumatin-like protein gene is described. The selectable markers used were phosphinothricin acetyltransferase and hygromycin phosphotransferase genes. Epicotyl explants from seedlings were precultured for 5-7 days on Murashige and Skoog medium with ${\alpha}$-naphthaleneacetic acid and 2,4 dichlorophenoxyacetic acid at 10 ${\mu}$M and 9 ${\mu}$M, respectively (ND medium), prior to Agrobacterium infection. The explants were immersed in a bacterial suspension for 20 min. A post-infection co-culture period of 3-4 days was provided on ND medium. Selection for transformed calli was conducted on ND medium with 20 mg/L phosphinothricin followed by 100 mg/L hygromycin over an 8-month period. it transformation frequency of 24.8% was achieved at the callusing phase. The presence of the transgenes in calli was confirmed by Southern hybridization and polymerase chain reaction analysis. The expression of the thaumatin-like protein gene in ginseng calli was demonstrated by Western blot analysis. Somatic embryos were produced from both transgenic calli and suspension cultures, and plantlets were recovered that expressed the transgenic thaumatin-like protein gene.
This study was performed employing the two stage aerated submerged biofilter of media pore size 1.5cm and 2cm, and infiuent substrate concentrations were 30.25mg COD/l, 50.1mg COD/l respectively. The purpose was to determine the treatment efficiency at the low concentration infiuent, reaction order and substrate flux with application of variable-order model that was presented by Rittmann and McCarty. . The results are as follows. 1. Treatment efficiency of 1st reactor was about BOD 82% and COD 76%, when effluent concentration was BOD 3.9 ~ 6.8, COD 7.1 ~ 12.5 mg/l, and this effluent concentration didn't satisfy the water quality grade I, II of river and lake. But as treated effluent of 1st reactor with 2nd reactor, we could achieve appropriate water quality, since instillation of 2nd reactor was needed. 2. Difference of media pore size between 1.5cm and 2cm didn't effect significantly to treatment efficiency and since this of 2nd reactor was about BOD 60%, COD 50%, an consideration of economic point of view should be carried out in field application. 3. Reaction order and substrate flux was varied 0.9851~0.9956 and 0.0028~0.0405 mg/$cm^{2} \cdot day$, and the substrate flux was increased as infiuent substrate concentration increased.
