  • The policy of US DoD is moving towards implementation of Network Centric Warfare(NCW) concepts. NCW is commonly described as the integration and synchronization of four key interdependent elements such as command and control, sensor system, engagement systems and the network. Therefore the military policy of Korea military is needed to access and examine the policy of NCW communication environment and crypto communication, which is able to apply it. In this case study, We are reviewed the security framework of the concept of network centric warfare in the centering around the US. It is introduced the core technology in the network centric warfare, and it is reviewed the security framework such as, the requirements of security, the characteristics security of global information grid, joint tactical radion system, net centric enterprise services, transformational communication satellite, in the basis of core technology, and analysis the effect of crypto communication relay between command node and surbornate node in NCW environment. This report support the assistance, which is considered the elements of surrounding effects in the varied crypto communication research area of NCW.

  • NCW(Network Centric Warfare) offers BSEs(Battelspace-Entities) the capabilities of sharing information through C4ISRCommand, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) network and it also improves their combat powers based on information superiority with awareness of common situation in battlefield and self-synchronization. Although the concept of NCW was developed at the end of 1990 and there have been various studies for NCW from the development of its concept, the effort for measuring the synergistic effect of NCW is insufficient at the present time. Therefore, in this paper we reviewed literatures concerning the effectiveness measurement of NCW. The category of our survey is network effect, metrics, simulation, battlefield information, social network analysis and mathematical model. The main purpose of this study is to suggest future researchers a research direction by analyzing the aspects and limitations of existing studies about the quantitative measurement of NCW.

  • Modem warfares have changed from PCW (platform Centric Warfare) to NCW (Network Centric Warfare). Therefore, it is more important to operate and manage the network. This paper proposed a node management scheme in military wireless networks. In military wireless networks, nodes can join and leave the networks easily. It causes a degradation of network capacity. This paper figured out a problem caused by node which is leaving the network. This paper proposed a RSSI based method of estimating and detecting the leaving nodes in the networks. Finally, an experimental result was demonstrated to show the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • The Network Centric Warfare(NCW) is based on the linkage of forces by network to employ them as they are centralized, even though they are scattered. Also it can be used to overcome spatiotemporal obstacles. Under the concept of NCW, cognitive and social areas are getting more weight than information technology and physical ones. In this study we tried to investigate the affecting factors to execute NCW effectively by user's point of view to place the focus on cognitive and social aspects. We obtained some affirmative results that affect to conduct NCW in Korea. The advanced western NCW can be applicable in theoretically in Korea, however to employ NCW more effectively we need Korean style NCW which portrays the Korean realities and circumstances.

  • The recent notion of Network Centric Warfare (NCW) emphasizes the ability to distribute the right information at the right time to maximize the combat effectiveness. Accordingly, in the modern combat system, the importance of non-physical elements, such as a communication system, is increasing. However, an NCW-support communication network system is expensive. Therefore, it is essential to develop a proper combat system evaluation method to establish an efficient NCW-support combat system. Traditionally, combat system effectiveness is measured in terms of physical elements such as men and fire power, Obviously, such method is hardly applicable to a modern combat system. To overcome this difficulty, we propose an evaluation model based on CA (Cellular Automata) simulation. A set of preliminary combat simulations show that CA simulation may be promising in evaluating non-physical element of a modern combat system.

  • The paradigm of war is basically changed by development of information and communication technologies. One of the paradigms in future war is NCW(Network-Centric Warfare) that is purposed of achievement in information-superiority. In this future war, the level of menace and fragility is rapidly increased in information-security according to the massive information and complex system. Therefore the Korean army is developing the information-security technologies for NCW. But, until now patent analysis concerning NCW has not performed. In this paper, we suggest a meaningful data for efficient R&D through patent analysis of information-security technologies on NCW.

  • While the future warfare is expected to be appeared as network-centric, effect-based, and coordinated cooperative, most current M&S systems reflect only the unit behaviors and interactions of each weapon system. There are limitations to analyze the behaviors of managing weapons cooperatively and sharing the situational awareness over the networks of distributed sensors, C2, and shooters using them. Therefore, we introduce the new design of the networkcentric warfare modeling system using the agent-based modeling and simulation approach. We have developed a system for engagement-level warfare models and tested with multi-platform battleship warfare. In this paper, we propose the method to design battle agents, environments, and networks for network centric warfare modeling.
