This study aims at suggesting the applicability of color combination based upon the characteristics of environmental color perception and the nuance concept of Natural Color System(NCS). The results are summarized below: First, NCS is a scientific coloring system in consideration of the relevance between people, light and environment, to be based on a phenomenological point of view. NCS can be called a psychometric model reflecting our natural color sense. Second, the color triangle established by NCS is one of the methods of expression based on the human visual mechanism, which is classified by two attributes of hue and nuance, not by the three color attributes of hue, lightness and saturation. The nuance concept of NCS implies the impression, atmosphere and tone that are perceived in colors, which are related to lightness and saturation. Accordingly, this paper suggests that the coloring arrangement emphasizing nuance and tone is more useful than hue in color planning. Third, aesthetic impression in environmental color perception is inclusive of instantly perceptive nuance, which is connected with affordance. The affordance is revealed by the different relation of similarity. In this regard, a strong relationship is noticed between color combination and the sense of pleasantness. The hypothesis regarding the complementation and similarity of contrasting nature is judged to provide observers with aesthetic order. Finally, this paper also suggests four harmonizing methods in the NCS color triangle based upon equal blackness, equal whiteness, equal chromaticness and same nuance. At the same time, opposition and a different concept of hue, lightness and lightness are combined complementarily with the nuance value to suggest patterns of color combination.

The purpose of this study is to examine a unique characteristic of the colors of the costumes in Korean basic culture in the aim of seeking the characteristics and the conceptual meanings of colors found in the majority’s culture. The scope of the basic culture was divided into folk belief, folk game and folk play. Within these limits, the colors of the dress, accessories, instruments were extracted by comparing with the naked eye in NCS Color System. For the analysis of hue and tone, the secondary dimensional analysis using NCS color system and the three-dimensional analysis using the software, COLOR 3D Version 2.0, were done. The result of this investigation is that the colors of the costume in the Korean basic culture are white, gray and black of achromatic color and yellow, yellowish red and purplish blue. This confirms that the colors based on Five-elements color are becoming the basis too basic culture. And Arche-pattern, which is a characteristic commonly found in the Korean traditional society, was shown as a characteristic of color. The colors of the costumes in Korean basic culture are uniquely adopted by the Korean civilians according to their religious and philosophical living standard. This study is meaningful in seeking a root for the formation of their unique color culture.

The purpose of this study was to examine a unique characteristic of the colors of the costumes in Korean basic culture in the aim of seeking Five-elements color found in Korean civilian's costume culture. The scope of Korean basic culture was 32 items specified as an import intangible cultural asset in the side of religion and art for the majority of the Korean people. Within these limits, the colors of the dress, accessories, instruments were extracted by comparing with the naked eye in NCS Color System. The result of this investigation was that Red was yellowish red and high chromatic and deep tone within 4area. Blue was purplish blue and high chromatic and deep tone within 4area, similarly Red. Yellow was pure yellow and high chromatic and bright tone within 3area. Red and Blue in Korean basic culture were more primary color and more high brightness than Korean traditional colors. Religion and art fer Korean civilian revealing the Korean basic culture reflected impending real-life of Korean civilian who intend to overcome their desperate reality at using Five-elements color in their costume.

This thesis aimed to reduce the differences of hair color when hair coloring, so it researched the differences & changes in hair color before shampoo v.s. after shampoo and dry on different heat processes when acid hair color dyeing. Five hair color dyes (Y, R, B, G, Br) manufactured by two different corporations were used. The acid hair color dyes were tinted on black and bleached hair pieces subjected to 3 different heat process; 1. Normal Temperature($25^{\circ}C$, 30min.) / 2. Heating($40^{\circ}C$, 15min.)+Normal Temperature($25^{\circ}C$, 15min.) / 3. Heating($40^{\circ}C$, 30min.). Color numbers were divided by NCS value, chroma, and hue. Statistical averages were derived and t-test was conducted using SPSS V12. Hair color differences and changes were drawn on an NCS chart using Photo Shop PS. The conclu is; If acid hair colorings are separated by a heating process, hair value & chroma change before shampoo vs. after shampoo & dry regardless of the color of hair and the heat process. Hue is not changed or shifted counter clockwise NCS color circle, but some exceptions, and it's the same when the total heat process results are combined. Black hair's value shifted downward and chroma left, and hue stayed either neutral or one color or it shifted counter clockwise on NCS color circle. Bleached hair's value shifted upward and chroma right, and hue stayed one color or shifted counter clockwise, but some exceptions. And it can be shown on NCS chart.

The objective of the study is to create color plan for company D based on color images of the Bloomsbury Group paintings, which is an art institute based in Bloomsbury, London, a hometown of the company, to renew the traditional brand image of the company by blending fashion and art. This study analyzed 'D's previous F/W Color planning from 2003 to 2007 through NCS to understand characteristics of company D's color planning. It considered company D's color renewal concept by looking into Bloomsbury Group's backgrounds and pieces. Based on 2008-2009 F/W color trend and the analysis result, the study suggests a color plan with reference to a case study of the company D, for which I work as a colorist. The color renewal of the company D for 2008-2009 F/W season was categorized into theme I. Bloomsbury and theme II. Charleston for planning. The following table summarizes the result of 2008-2009 F/W season color plan with focus on development of new check and print patterns. The significance of the study can be found in that it advanced beyond the color planning stage to be applied to the actual renewal. Through a renewal of an existing brand, a fashion brand can be revitalized to have distinguished competitiveness.

본 연구에서는 천경자 그림에 표현된 색채를 응용하여 추상적 네일디자인을 작품제작으로 표현하고자 한다. 이를 통해 네일 디자인의 창의적인 아이디어 발상에 대한 기본 토대를 마련하고 네일디자인의 표현영역을 확대하는데 목적을 가진다. 실증적 연구로서 천경자의 미술적 특징이 잘 표현된 작품 5가지를 선정하여 NCS 자연색체계를 활용하여 색채 데이터 분석을 하였으며, 색채 활용과 더불어 네일디자인을 표현하기 위해 천경자의 작품 속 대표되는 5가지의 모티프를 선정하여 각 작품에 표현하였다. 본 연구의 작품 제작에 나타난 디자인은 네일디자인과 현대 한국회화의 융 복합이며, 이를 통하여 뷰티디자인의 예술성을 다양한 시각으로 재창조하여 네일 디자인을 개발하였다.
