Development of an Operating Software for Educational DNC System (교육용 DNC 시스템의 운영 소프트웨어 개발)

  • The importance of training for NC, CNC and Machining Center has been greatly increased. This paper presents implementation of a DNC(Direct Numerical Control) operating software for educational system. This system is able to connect 8-32 CNCs to Control PC with RS232 multi-port serial card. Therefore, it allows much efficiency in training even after costs are considered. The KISCO DNC S/W for above system includes various communication functions, communication parameters setting, program editor and user-friendly environment. This software was developed with C and Windows programming. It was proved in function and stability by iterative field tests.

  • Generally machine tools can be divided into three components : NC Controller, the electrical drives and the mechanical transmission elements. For high speed, high precision machining, high performance control of servo system must be accommodated and one must carefully define the interface among three components. In this paper, we suggest a way to assist future development of CNC controller by investigating the characteristics resulting from different interface between CNC controller and servo system.

  • In this paper, we developed an automated program for the modeling and manufacturing of three-dimensional roller gear cams. A computer program employing the theory of gearing and coordinate transformation is developed for synthesizing and animating cam mechanisms. A method using wire frame modeling and shading by triangular element is presented, and effectively used for modeling of example with reduced computation time. Then a module for generation NC program for a five-axis CMC machine to manufacture roller gear cam is established.

  • Die finishing (polishing and lapping) after NC machining is characterized as one bottleneck process for reducing lead time. For automation of this typical manual work, a flexible polishing tool system using industrial robot has been developed. This tool system has three principal functions in order to achieve reduction of waviness, 3 D.O.F. compliance and constant pressure structure. This polishing tool shows that adaptability to free form surface is increased and programmability to various areas of die surface is also acquired.

  • This paper introduces the system AUTO-CUT for the automatic generation of NC tapes for wire-cut EDM (Electrodischarge Machining) parts. The information input to the system is the description of the part geometries, the tool motions and the cutting conditions etc. The system generates CLDATA. Also dynamic graphic display of the tool motions can be-performed on the screen.

  • After constructing master model utilizing CAD data originated by sketch, product NC data for polyurethane foam using digitized master model data. And model cutting is performed utilizing specially developed polyurethane foam cutting tool in machining center. In this study, it is discussed to construct concept of tool offset, method of tool offset and feature tolerance, etc., that is impossible for cutting of the polyurethane foam by CNC machine.

  • The recent development of NC lathe and machining renter have enabled automatic or unmanned manufacturing system for the improvement of production rate. And if you want to introduce automatic or unmanned manufacturing system into the cutting process of cage motor rotor, the selections of effective cutting conditions, rational tool grades and tool angles are necessary. As a result, the selection of cutting conditions, tool grades and tool angles are important factors to production rate.

  • This paper presenta new method for tool interference acoidance using rectanguar approximation in NC machining of scuptured surface. The procedure of algorithm for approximation of sculptured surface to rectangular surface is described. Using this algorithm, we can check concave, convex, and side interference region and avoid these interferenes.

  • 와이어 컷 방전가공은 자동운전을 가능하게 한 NC가공 장치를 대표할 만한 가공법이다. 기존 기계가공으로 가공하기 어려운 형상의 제품을 쉽게 제작할 수 있다 그러나 기계가공으로 제작된 금형에 비해 수명이 현저히 저하된다. 이러한 요인은 와이어 컷 방전가공으로 제작된 금형 표면에 가공 변질층이 발생함으로 인한 것으로 사료된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기계가공과 와이어 컷 방전가공으로 제작된 시편의 가공면 표면 특성을 비교하여 그 요인을 분석하고자 하였다.
