  • Recently, with the development of NC and CNC machine tools and the high labor wage, the cutting process requires the high speed and automatic system which uses industrial robots and the flexible manufacturing system(FMS) that combines several machine tools. In this system, the whole system can be influenced by just one of the machin tools. So it needs to detect a problem and to solve it immediately In in-process state. The monitoring system through measuring the motor current with current sensor has been attracting the attention of lots of researchers view of its low cost and flexibility. By using the pattern discriminant with the detected three-phase-current signal, that is, $I_{RMS}$, a system which can monitor and analyze abnormal machining process condition of the workpiece during the machining will be able to be developed in this research.h.

  • On-machine measuring system of Numerically Control(NC) machines permit computer control of basic material cutting processes of moulds. A part of mould designed within a CAD/CAM system can be manufactured by generation of tool paths by the measuring systems. Since the three-dimensional geometry by AutoCAD of the part is contained in the data base, the manufacturing specialist combined with the appropriate software simulation, can not only create the commands to drive the virtual measuring and standardization of measuring modules but also can check for mistakes by viewing the computer graphics simulation of the tool cutting sequence.

보정 프로그램을 이용한 Plastic 렌즈 Core의 보정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of the Shape Accuracy of Plastic Lens by Compensation Program)

  • In order to meet the optical performance in the process of the micro lens manufacturing with plastics, it is important to embody accuracy in shape and surface roughness to the intended design. Since it is difficult to machine exactly the mold core of lens fit to the designed shape, in this paper, a simple program using MATLAB is developed for shape correction of the mold core after first machining it. This program evaluates correction parameters(aspheric coefficients and curvature) and generates aspheric NC data for compensating the core surface in prior machining process. The program provides the way to manufacture plastic injection molding lens with aspheric shape of high precision, and is expected to be effective for correction and to shorten the processing time.

  • This research aims to develop Look Ahead position interpolation algorithm for small size CNC machine controlled by PC based controller. Look Ahead scheme can process a bundle of CNC's linear interpolation commands simultaneously, which reduces acceleration and deceleration time within single linear interpolation command. The algorithm is derived as simple analytical form which can be adapted to PC based CNC system by C language programming. The performance of the algorithm was verified by tail stock machining G codes experimentally. The average traverse speed of the CNC machine was increased by 27.5% and the total traverse time also reduced by 27.2% with the Look Ahead scheme.

  • This paper discusses the analysis of flexible manufacturing systmes design using computer simulation method. The simulation language employed is SIMAN which is a powerful tool to model flexible manufacturing systems. The important characteristics of FMS, its design and operational problems, and structures based on the number of NC machine tools and their layout are discussed for the appli- cations of FMS to manufacturing. A new algorithm for forming part families and machine groups has been proposed and its software is also developed. Simulation procedure using SIMAN for analysis of FMS designs is discussed and two design problems are analyzed and evaluated to illustrate systemstic procedure for analysis of FMS.

  • Now a days, securing skilled workers is very difficult due to the hardworking environment. This situation will be getting worse in the future and also that makes the dies/molds industries difficult. In this research, the automatic fone polishing system which can be directly attached to the spindle of CNC machine is proposed and analyzed. The system is also controlled by the NC progra data created by CAD/CAM system. The usefulness and effectiveness of the developed system are verified more detail through some comparisons between automatic and manual polishing experiments. The experiments show that the automatic polishing is a more useful and effective process than manual one. For the application, this system can be easily used for the polishing process in the area of any fine surface.

  • Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM)는 볼스크류, 기어 및 타이밍 벨트를 이용하여 NC, 가공기, 로봇 및 공장 자동화를 포함하여 산업 시스템 전반에 널리 사용되고 있다. 이러한 PMSM과 부하의 결합으로 구성된 시스템은 동력의 전달에 있어서, 고유의 공진 주파수를 가지며 공진 주파수 대역에서의 기계계의 응답 특성은 매우 불안정하고, 기계 시스템의 손상을 일으키게 된다. 본 논문에서는 PMSM을 이용한 직선 운동 시스템에서 기계적인 결합에 의한 기구부의 진동을 억제하기 위하여 진동 주파수를 자동으로 검출하여, 진동의 원인이 되는 토크 지령 신호를 억제하는 적응형 노치 필터를 포함하는 속도 제어 시스템을 제안한다. 하지만, 기계적인 진동 주파수와 주파수의 대역은 전동기에 결합된 결합 기구 및 부하에 따라서 변동하는 특성을 가지고 기계적인 진동의 크기도 진동원이 되는 신호에 따라 변동하므로, 이를 적응형 노치 필터부에서 이를 진단하여 진동 주파수를 자동으로 억제함으로써 안정적인 운전이 가능하도록 설계된다. 본 논문에서 제안된 기계적인 진동을 억제하기 위한 적응형 노치 필터의 성능은 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통하여 검증하였다.

자동차 프레스 금형 설계를 위한 3차원 CAD 시스템의 개발 (Development of Three-dimensional CAD System for Die Design for Automotive Body Panels)

  • Recently three-dimensional (3-D) die design and production process has been widely introduced into the tooling shops of automotive manufacturers to reduce time-to-production of brand-new automobiles. 3-D solid models created in CAD systems are used not only for various simulations for design verification, but also for NC tool path generation to machine dies and their Styrofoam patterns. However, a lot of time and cost will be required to build solid models for dies if designers use only the generalized modeling capabilities of commercial 3-D CAD systems. To solve this problem, it is necessary to customize 3-D CAD system for the specific die design and manufacturing process. This paper describes a dedicated 3-D CAD system based on Unigraphics for die design for automotive body panels. The system provides not only 3-D design capabilities, but also standard part libraries, to enhance design productivity. The design process modeling technology has been introduced to facilitate redesign of the die for the modified panel. By introducing this system, dies can be designed more rapidly in the 3-D space, and their solid data can be directly transferred to CAM tools for NC tool path generation and simulation tools for virtual manufacturing.

  • In modem manufacturing, many products that have geometrically complicated features, including three-dimensional sculptured surfaces, are designed and produced. In the production of these complex-shaped mechanical components, e.g. automobile dies, molds, and various engineering applications, the ball-end milling process is one of the most widely used NC machining processes that consists of roughing, semi-finishing and finishing. In semi-finishing, cusps remained after roughing according to the used tools that have two patterns of stairs and wave shapes. These cusp shapes have air-cut in cutting and instability caused by high cutting speed that affects the cutting characteristics such as cutting force and tool wear. Cutting characteristics are measured and analyzed through cutting force, FFT analysis of cutting force and tool wear along cutting length according to low tool paths with same metal removal rate. As a results of the experiments, this study suggests the optimal conditions of tool path and cutting direction. This approach for the cutting characteristics of semi-finishing provides a useful aid for the productivity and efficiency improvements of NC machining processes.
