FMS 구축을 위한 DNC 시스템 통신기법 (Method of DNC System Communication for FMS Construction)

  • The development of automatic production systems has a trend toward Computer Integrated Manufacturing System(CIMS) in recent years. In hardware configuration, CIMS are composed of intelligent CAD/CAM work stations, multifunction CNC machining centers including material handling systems. The DNC systems present the key element of automation hierarchy in a FMS. A DNC system is one which connects a number of numerically-controlled machines to a common memory in a digital computer for part program storage with provision for on-demand distribution of part program data to machines using communication in hierarchical structure of central computer, control computer and cell controller. This paper describes the development of Behind-the-Tape-Reader(BTR) type DNC system using CYBER 180-830 as a central computer and IBM PC-386 cell control computer and NC lathe with FANUC 5T NC controller. In this system, the connection between central computer and cell control computer is done via RS-232C serial interface board, and the connection between cell control computer and FANUC 5T controller is done via parallel interface board. The software consists of two module, central computer communication module for NC program downloading and status uploading, NC machine running module for NC operating.

  • This paper presents a method of grinding and polishing automation of precision die after CNC machining. The method employs a robot system equipped with a pneumatic spindle and a special abrasive film pad. The robote program is automatically generated off-line from a PC and downloaded to robot controller. Position and orientation data for the program is supplied from cutter contact (CC) data of NC machining process. This eliminates separate robot teaching process. This paper aims at practical automation of die finishing process which is very time consuming and suffering from shortage of workpeople. Time loss for changeover from one product to next is eliminated by off-line programming exploiting appropriate NC machining data. Dextrous 6-axis robot with rigid wrist and simple tooling enables the process applicable to larger, rather complex 3 dimensional free surfaces

  • This paper proposes the Embedded Linux System that can overcome the shortcomings of conventional CNC machine system. Linux is free of charge with the open source library and tools that can be used in the development of Kernel. Besides, Application is easily available through countless open source, allowing simple mending for seamless porting. This study have developed the study about NC Program automation Load System based on Embedded Linux and the ordered controller.

  • 본 연구에서 제시된 방법은 Fig.2(c)에 나타낸 방법으로 공구궤적의 검증과 더불어 NC공구궤적의 잘못된 부분과 정도를 찾아내 수정할 수 있도록하여 기존의 NC검증시스템의 비효율성을 해결하고자 했다.

  • CAD/CAM system may have such advantages of cost reduction, production time shortening, and product quality improvement. But current advanced versions of CAD/CAM system for 3-D NC data generation are too much expensive to purchase and too difficult to make full use for small-scale manufacturers whose main products are of 2-D simple shapes. The objective of this paper is to introduce a cost-effective way to 2-D NC data generation with a widely spread CAD software. Using VISUAL LISP in the well-known AUTO-CAD, the contents and steps of an automatic NC data generation program are presented for 2-D machining of contours and pockets. To approve the usefulness of program, a test application to a real part is exhibited also.

  • In this paper, the BTR (Behind the Tape Reader) type communication unit which interfaces the IEBM PC/XT to the FANUC 5M NC controller is developed, making it possible to send NC part program from the memory of IBM PC/XT to the NC controller. As an example of integration of CAD and CAM technologies, the machining of a two dimensional hand-written free line which incorporates the processes of geometric data acquisition using a digitizing tablet, automatic part programming and control of NC milling machine operation is demonstrated.

공구파손감지용 비젼시스템의 NC실장에 관한 연구 (A Study on the NC Embedding of Vision System for Tool Breakage Detection)

  • In this research, a vision system for detecting tool breakage which is hardly detected by such indirect in-process measurement method as acoustic emission, cutting torque and motor current was developed and embedded into a PC-NC system. The vision system consists of CMOS image sensors, a slit beam laser generator and an image grabber board. Slit beam laser was emitted on the tool surface to separate the tool geometry well from the various obstacles surrounding the tool. An image of tool is captured through two steps of signal processing, that is, median filtering and thresholding and then the tool is estimated normal or broken by use of change of the centroid of the captured image. An air curtain made by the jetting high-pressure air in front of the lens was devised to prevent the vision system from being contaminated by scattered coolant, cutting chips in cutting process. To embed the vision system to a Siemens PC-NC controller 840D NC, an HMI(Human Machine Interface) program was developed under the Windows 95 operating system of MMC103. The developed HMI is placed in a sub window of the main window of 840D and this program can be activated or deactivated either by a soft key on the operating panel or M codes in the NC part program. As the tool breakage is detected, the HMI program emit a command for automatic tool change or send alarm to the NC kernel. Evaluation test in a high speed tapping center showed the developed system was successful in detection of the small-radius tool breakage.

  • 본 연구에서는 이송축 직류 서보 모터의 전류신호와 NC정보를 이용해서 선삭 가공상태를 감시하는 시스템을 개발하였다. 모터 전류는 가공 부하의 상태를 잘 나 타내며, NC 장치에 내장되어 있기 때문에 신호 검출을 위한 별도의 센서가 필요 없어 서 공구가 수시로 바뀌는 NC작업 감시를 위한 유효한 신호이다. 또 NC 정보로부터 작업을 예측함으로써 감시 대상을 명확히 하고 신뢰성을 높이고자 하였다. 전체적인 감시 시스템의 프로그래밍 언어로는 C를 사용하여, 실시간 감시처리를 가능하게 하였 다.

  • In this paper, NCTOP is an interactive NC auto programming system for two-dimensional machining. NCTOP consists of seven modules, that is pattern form input, free form input, AutoCAD interface, logic processing, postprocessor processing, output, and database upgrade module. The geometry information of a workpiece to be machined is put into NCTOP program. Then it generates NC program which is final output. NCTOP uses the machining dates from the data base.
