  • Compound PdCl₂(Phc≡N)₂(1) reacted with 2,6-diisopropylaniline to give trans-[Pd(NH₂-C/sub 6/-H₃-2, 6-i-Pr₂)₂Cl₂] (2). Compound 2 was characterized by spectroscopy (¹H-NMR, /sup 13/C-NMR, and IR) and X-ray diffraction. Crystallographic data for 2: monoclinic space group P2₁/n, a=13.532(3) Å, b=5.749(1) Å, c=17.880(4)Å, β=103.84(2)°, Z=2, R(wR₂)=0.0466(0.1226).

  • Shiff Base ligand such as [NOIPH] have been synthesized from 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and arometic amine. Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes from the reaction metal salts with Tridentate Schiff Base [NOIPH] were sythesized. The ligand and metal(II) complexes were characterized by the elementary analysis, IR, UV-Vis, NMR spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis. Metal(II) complexes in solid state have been shown that the mole raio of Schiff base [NOIPH] as $N_2O$ type to Metal(II) is 2:1 and the metal(II) complexes of $N_2O$ ligand type were four-coordinated configuration.

  • Four thiazolidines and following five new compounds were prepared by the addition reaction of cysteine and thiophenol to ${\alpha}$,N-diphenylnitrones, respectively ; ${\alpha}$,thiophenoxy-benzylidene aniline ;${\alpha}$,thiophenoxy-p-hydroxybenzylidene aniline ; ${\alpha}$,thiophenoxy-p-chlorobenzylidene aniline ;${\alpha}$,thiophenoxy-p-methoxybenzylidene aniline ; ${\alpha}$,thiophenoxy-p-nitrobenzylidene aniline. The structure of these compounds were confirmed by the elemental analysis, UV-, IR-and NMR-spectra.

  • Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) containing polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was synthesized using PDMS as crosslinking agent, and characterized by IR and DSC. It seems that the copolymer has separated phases, PNIPAAm and PDMS. The $T_g$ of PNIPAAm was decreased in accordance with the increase of PDMS-contents. The swelling behavior of polymer in water was examined with the function of temperature and PDMS-contents as well. The equilibrium swelling ratio of polymer in water was decreased with increasing PDMS-contents, but lower critical solution temperature (LCST) was not significantly affected by the incorporated PDMS-contents.

  • Six-coordinate molybdenum(Ⅴ)-oxo complexes, (R4N)[MoO(NCS)2L](R=CH3, C2H5, n-C4, H9) with S-methyl-3-(2-hydroxy-x-phenyl)methylenedithiocarbazate(L1: x=5-H) and its derivatives (L2:x=5-CH3, L3: x=3-CH3O, L4: x=5,6-C4H4 and L5: x=5-NO2) have been synthesized and the structural, spectral and electrochemical properties of the complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, UV-Vis, IR, 1H NMR, and CV (cyclic voltammetry).

  • Recently, the phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) have been extensively studied for their high internal quantum efficiency. In this study, we synthesised several phosphorescent metal complexes, and certified their composition using NMR. We also investigated the characteristics of the phosphorescent OLEDs with the green emitting phosphor, $Ir(ppy)_{3}$. The devices with a structure of indium-tin-oxide(ITO)/N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-(3-methylphenyI}-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD)/metal complex doped in host materials/2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-l,10-phenanthroline(BCP)/tris (8-hydroxyquinolinato) Aluminum($Alq_{3}$)/Li:Al/Al was fabricated, and its electrical and optical characteristics were studied. By changing the doping concentration of tris(2-phenylpyridine)iridium ($Ir(ppy)_{3}$), we fabricated several devices and investigated their characteristics.

  • [Purpose] Blood glucose and insulin resistance were lower following hypoxic exposure in previous studies. However, the effect of hypoxia as therapy in obese model has not been unknown. [Methods] Six-week-old mice were randomly divided into chow diet (n=10) and high-fat diet (HFD) groups (n=20). The chow diet group received a non-purified commercial diet (65 % carbohydrate, 21 % protein, and 14 % fat) and water ad libitum. The HFD group was fed an HFD (Research Diet, #D12492; 60% kcal from fat, 5.24 kcal/g). Both groups consumed their respective diet for 7 weeks. Subsequently, HFD-induced mice (12-weeks-old) were randomly divided into two treatment groups : HFD-Normoxia (HFD; n=10) and HFD-Hypoxia (HYP; n=10, fraction of inspired=14.6%). After treatment for 4 weeks, serum glucose, insulin and oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT) were performed. [Results] Homeostatic model assessment values for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) of the HYP group tended to be lower than the HFD group. Regarding the OGTT, the area under the curve was 13% lower for the HYP group than the HFD group. [Conclusion] Insulin resistance tended to be lower and glucose uptake capacity was significantly augmented under hypoxia. From a clinical perspective, exposure to hypoxia may be a practical method of treating obesity.

Study of the hydrogen concentration of SiNx film by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy를 이용한 SiNx박막의 수소농도 연구)

  • The bonding structure and composition of silicon nitride (SiNx) films were investigated by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). SiNx films were deposited on Si substrate at $340^{\circ}C$ using a conventional PECVD system. The compositions of Si and N in SiNx films were confirmed by using Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS) and photoluminescence (PL) analysis. The surface morphology of SiNx films was also analyzed by using atomic force microscopy (AFM). It was found that the contents of NH(at. %) is the reverse related with those of SiH corresponding to the result of FT-IR. we conclude that a quantitative analysis on SiNx films can be possible through a precise detection of the contents of H in SiNx films with a FT-IR analysis only.

  • Six N-substituted-5-hydroxyanthranilic acids were synthesized by the coupling reaction of 5-tosyloxyanthranilic acid ethyl ester with corresponding acid chlorides. The structure of the obtained compounds was proved by NMR and IR. These compounds did not inhibit the growth of micro-organisms while suppressed HSV-1 replication in vero cell at 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml.

Solvent-Free Synthesis of Some1-Acetyl Pyrazoles

  • Some N-acetyl pyrazoles including 1-(3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-5-(substituted phenyl)-4,5-dihydro-$^1H$-pyrazole- 1-yl) ethanones have been synthesised by solvent free cyclization cum acetylation of chalcones like substituted styryl 3,4- dichlorophenyl ketones using hydrazine hydrate and acetic anhydride in presence of catalytic amount of fly-ash: $H_2SO_4$ catalyst. The yield of these N-acetyl pyrazole derivatives are more than 75%. The synthesised N-acetyl pyrazoline derivatives were characterized by their physical constants and spectral data.
