  • The spectrum of values stretches from intrinsic value to practical value, consisting of exchange value anduse value. Because of its own nature and perspective in assessing information, there are some problems ofassessing its value. As a framework of assessing value of lnformation, Taylor developed the value-addedmodel of information. Although the model has sl~ortcomings which do not apply measures and scales tomformation value, it can be a framework in assessing the value of mformation.

DC V-I Characteristics of a High Temperature Superconductor for a 600 kJ Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage Device in an Oblique External Magnetic Field (경사 외부자장에 대한 600 kJ급 SMES용 HTS도체의 DC V-I 특성)

  • We are developing a small-sized high temperature superconducting magnetic energy storage (HTS-SMES) magnet with the nominal storage capacity of 600 kJ, which provides electric power with high quality to sensitive electric loads. Critical current and N-value of a high temperature superconductor with large current, which was selected for the development of the 600 kJ HTS-SMES magnet, were investigated in various oblique external magnetic fields. Based on the critical current and N-value measured for the short sample conductor, we discussed the DC V - I characteristic of a model coil fabricated with the same conductor of 500 m. The results show that the measured critical current and N-value of the conductor for parallel field are constant in external magnetic fields less than about 0.2 T. However, for oblique fields, its critical current and N -value abruptly decrease in all external magnetic fields. Moreover, the measured critical current of the model coil well agrees with the numerically calculated one based on the DC V - I characteristic measured for the short sample conductor. This suggest that losses and critical currents for an HTS-SMES magnet made up of a high temperature superconductor with anisotropic characteristic are predictable from the data of a short sample conductor.

  • The pattern of nitrogen fixation by water culture of Sesbania, known as an effective legume plant for nitrogen fixation, in the growth cabinet by Leonard-Jar methods and nitrogen fixation pattern to sesbania are as follows: 1. Dry weight per pot after inoculation of rhizobia to sesbania was by the order for root + stem > root > control and nitrogen contents of plant parts also showed the same tendency as dry weight except leaf. 2. $^{15}N$ value based on natural abundance was by the order of root + stem > root > control, $^{15}N$ value of root nodule and stem nodule among total nitrogen content exhibited positive value but it showed negative value from root, stem and leaf.

The Ultrasonic Image Processing by Peak Value, Time Average and Depth Profile Technique in High Frequency Bandwidth (고주파대역에서 피크값, Time Average 및 Depth Profile 초음파 영상처리)

  • In this paper, ultrasonic images of 25MHz bandwidth were acquired by applying peak value variation, time average and depth profile algorithm to acoustic microscopy and its performance was compared and analysed with each other. In the time average algorithm, total reflecting pulse wave from a spot on the coin was converted to digital data in time domain and average value of the converted 512 data was calculated in computer. Time average image was displayed by gray levels colour of acquired N x N matrix average data in the scanning area on the sample. This technique having smoothing effects in time domain make developed an ultrasonic image on a highly scattering area. In depth profile technique, time difference between the reference and the reflected signal was detected with minimum resolution performance of 2ns, thus we can acquired real 3 dimensional shape of the scanning area in accordance with relative magnitude. Through these experiments, peak value, time average and depth profile images were analysed and advantages of each algorithm were proposed.

  • Effects of nitrogen incorporated with 15N-nitrogen, which was applied to grown alone and in mixture with grass and legumes of forage crops, on the yield of dry matter, total nitrogen content, percentage of nitrogen derived from fertilizer (P.N.D.F.), A-value were studied, and the results obtained are as follows: 1. With nitrogen for the yield of dry matter was highly effective only to orchardgrass and were also effect to the early stages of alfalfa and birdsfoot trefoil in case of a mixed sowing. 2. Alone and mixed sowings showed the yield of dry matter in decreasing order of alfalfa<red clover>orchardgrass>birdsfoot trefoil, and orchardgrass + alfalfa>orchardgrass + red clover>orchardgrass + birdsfoot trefoil, respectively. 3. In case of grown alone, orchardgrass gave higher percentage of nitrogen derived from fertilizer (P.N.D.F.) than legume, whereas in case of grown in mixture it was in reverse order throughout the plots. It appears likely that orchardgrass was rather supplied soil nitrogen by legume then by nitrogen application. And P.N.D.F. was getting smaller in the latter stage of all forage crops in case of grown alone. In case of grown in mixture, however, and inconsistent P.N.D.F. was obtained from orchardgrass. 4. The A-value in case of grown alone was decreased in order of alfalfa>red clover>orchardgrass>birdsfoot trefoil. In contrast, however, the A-value in case of grown in mixture wes decreased in order of orchardgasss+alfalfa (3:7)>orchardgrass+red clover (3:7)>orchardgrass+red clover (3:7)>orchardgrass+alfalfa(5:5)>orchardgrass+birdsfoot trefoil (5:5)>orchardgrass+red clover (5:5)>orchardgrass+birdsfoot trefoil (3:7).

  • In this paper, we present characterizations of the power function distribution by the independence of record values. We establish that $X{\in}$ POW(1, ${\nu}$) for ${\nu}$ > 0, if and only if $\frac{X_{L(n)}}{X_{L(n)}-X_{L(n+1)}}$ and $X_{L(n)}$ are independent for $n{\geq}1$. And we prove that $X{\in}$ POW(1, ${\nu}$) for ${\nu}$ > 0; if and only if $\frac{X_{L(n+1)}}{X_{L(n)}-X_{L(n+1)}}$ and $X_{L(n)}$ are independent for $n{\geq}1$. Also we characterize that $X{\in}$ POW(1, ${\nu}$) for ${\nu}$ > 0, if and only if $\frac{X_{L(n)}+X_{L(n+1)}}{X_{L(n)}-X_{L(n+1)}}$ and $X_{L(n)}$ are independent for $n{\geq}1$.

  • This paper presents some characterizations of the Weibull distribution by the independence of record values. We prove that $X{\sim}Weibull(1,{\alpha})$, ${\alpha}>0$ if and only if $\frac{X_{U(n+1)}}{X_{U(n+1)}-X_{U(n)}}$ and $X_{U(n+1)}$ for $n{\geq}1$ are independent. We show that $X{\sim}Weibull(1,{\alpha})$, ${\alpha}>0$ if and only if $\frac{X_{U(n+1)}}{X_{U(n+1)}-X_{U(n)}}$ and $X_{U(n+1)}$ for $n{\geq}1$ are independent. And we establish that $X{\sim}Weibull(1,{\alpha})$, ${\alpha}>0$ if and only if $\frac{X_{U(n+1)}+X_{U(n)}}{X_{U(n+1)}-X_{U(n)}}$ and $X_{U(n+1)}$ for $n{\geq}1$ are independent.

A Study on Some Antioxidative Effects of Stewed Pumpkin Juice on Lipid (호박즙의 유지에 대한 항산화 효과)

  • This study was carried out to investigate some antioxidative effects of stewed pumpkin juice (SPJ) and the SPJs added with ginger (SPJ-G), onion (SPJ-O), jujube (SPJ-J) or boxthorn (SPJ-B), respectively, on the lipid oxidation of soybean oil (S) and mackerel pike boiled ground (MPBG). Antioxidative substances of SPJ were extracted by using the two solvent layers of n-hexane:acetone (1:1)(H) and methanol:water (7:3)M. The antioxidative effects of the extracts were observed by the peroxide value (P.O.V.) and thiobabituric acid (T.B.A.) value. The P.O.V. and T.B.A. value of two solvent extracts of S and MPBG showed significantly lower than those of S and MPBG. The SPJ showed very distingnished antioxidative effects. It was considered that melanoidine extracted by using methanol:water (7:3) solvent as well as carotenoid extracted by using n-hexane:acetone (1:1) solvent had an antioxidative effect. During storage, T.B.A. value of MPBG significantly increased, while that of MPBG-SPJ significantly decreased more than that of MPBG. T.B.A. value of MPBG-SPJs decreased much than that of MPBG-SPJ, SPJ-O, SPJ-G, SPJ-J and SPJ-B, in order of abundance, showed higher level of antioxidative effects than SPJ.   • This research examined the effect of KHD Leadership toward Sustainable Shareholder Value and mediated by IT & Business Strategy Alignement and Integrated Supply Chain Management. Therefore, with this research, it is expected to be able to develop the KHD Leadership in State-owned enterprises' (SOEs) Indonesian. The population in this study were all echelon 1, 2, and 3 employees in the PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, PT Pupuk Petrokimia Gresik, PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang, PT Pupuk Kujang Cikampek, PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda, as many as N = 1002 people. The appropriate sampling technique used is Proportional Stratified Random Sampling (n=300 employees). The statistical analysis used is SEM-WarpPLS method. IT & Business Strategy Alignement and Integrated Supply Chain Management significant and positive on Sustainable Shareholder Value. IT & Business Strategy Alignment and IT Integrated Suppy Chain Management is a mediating variable between the influence of KHD Leadership on Sustainable Shareholder Value. Novelty in this research is the development of Ki Hadjar Dewantara Leadership as the development of the concept of Javanese leadership that grows inherent in Indonesian society, especially Javanese society and is believed to be applicable in business and industrial organizations in Indonesia, of course it can also be implemented in Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company.

  • Sufficient conditions for the existence of at least one solution of a class of multi-point boundary value problems of the fractional differential equations at resonance are established. The main theorem generalizes and improves those ones in [Liu, B., Solvability of multi-point boundary value problems at resonance(II), Appl. Math. Comput., 136(2003)353-377], see Remark 2.3. An example is presented to illustrate the main results.
