  • Cytochrome P450 (P450)/$O_2$/NADPH engender electron transfer reaction of N-benzyl-N-substituted benzylamines to yield corresponding radical cation 1 that is simultaneously converted into 2 and 3. Subsequently, expulsion of proton and hydroxylation yielding a-hydroxylamines are followed by formation of benzaldehydes and benzylamines.

  • The nucleophilic substitution reactions of Y-aryl N,N-dimethyl phosphoroamidochloridates with substituted anilines and deuterated anilines are kinetically investigated in acetonitrile at $65.0^{\circ}C$. A stepwise mechanism with a rate-limiting leaving group departure from the intermediate is proposed based on the positive ${\rho}_{XY}$ value. The deuterium kinetic isotope effects involving deuterated anilines show secondary inverse with all the nucleophiles, rationalized by a dominant backside nucleophilic attack.

  • The fluorescence of 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) bound to DNA at a [DAPI]/[DNA base] ratio of 0.005 was quenched by meso-tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrin (TMPyP) or cis-bis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrin (BMPyP) when both DAPI and either porphyrin spontaneously bound to the same DNA strand. The quenching was investigated using the "one-dimensional inner sphere" and the "F$\ddot{o}$rster resonance energy transfer" (FRET) models. Total quenching occurred when DAPI and TMPyP were up to 19.3 base pairs or $66\AA$ apart. BMPyP could quench the fluorescence up to 13.9 base pairs or $47\AA$. TMPyP, which intercalated between the DNA base-pairs, appeared to be a better acceptor than BMPyP, which stacked along the DNA stem. The higher quenching and higher resonance energy transfer efficiency of TMPyP was due to the larger overlap integral between its absorption spectrum and the emission spectrum of DNA-bound DAPI.

  • Available transfer capability(ATC) quantifies the viable increase in real power transfer from one point to another in a power system. ATC calculation has predominantly focussed on steady-state viability. But ATC assessment with transient stability constraints has a dominant part in overall ATC calculation. ATC assessment requires a reputation of (n-1) security assessment with constraints of thermal limits, voltage stability and dynamic stability. An estimation of determinant contingency screening method is used for computing eigenvalue of Jacobian matrix. This paper proposed a methods to ATC calculation using energy function. Constraints is used thermal limits, voltage stability and transient stability.

  • Intergeneric hybrids formed between Aspergillus oryzae var oryzae and Penicillium verruculosum F-3 were obtained by nuclear transfer technique. Several auxotrophic mutants isolated fromconidio-spores of the two strains mutagenized with ultraviolet and N-methyl-N-nitrosoguanidine. Optimal conditions for formation of intergeneric hybrids were investigated. Frequencies of hybrid formation by nuclear transfer were 3$\times $10$^{-5}$ $~$1$\times $10$^{-5}$. From observation of genetic stability, conidial size, DNA content, nuclear stain, it was suggested that their karyptypes are aneuploid. The hybrid posses the 1.3$~$2.2 fold higher amylase activities than those of parental strains. It was also revealed that some hybids had different isozyme patterns compared to those of parental strains by amylase activity assays.

  • This paper deals with the heat exchange performance prediction of a counter flow type double-tube condenser for natural refrigerant mixtures composed of Propane/n-Butane or Propane/i-Butane in a smooth tube and a micro-fin tube. The local characteristics of heat transfer, mass transfer and pressure drop are calculated using a prediction method developed by the authors. The total pressure drop and the overall heat transfer coefficient are also evaluated on various heat exchange conditions. The calculated results of the natural refrigerant mixtures are compared with HCFC22. In conclusion, natural refrigerant mixtures composed of Propane/n-Butane or Propane/i-Butane are appropriate candidates for alternative refrigerant from the viewpoint of heat transfer characteristics.

  • A numerical analysis is carried out to study the two-dimensional steady state natural convection from vertical wires immersed in cold pure water. The surface of the wire is $0^{\circ}C$ unifrom temperature. Results of the analysis are presented for free stream temperature from $0^{\circ}C$ to $25^{\circ}C$ and the aspect ratio N from $5.26{\times}10^{-3}$ to $1.0{\times}10^{-3}$. The effects of the density extremum and aspect ratio on the flow pattern and the heat transfer characteristics are discussed As the aspect ratio N becomes larger, in the range of $1.0^{\circ}C{\leq}T_{\infty}{\leq}4.4^{\circ}C$ and $6{^{\circ}C}{\leq}T_{\infty}{\leq}17^{\circ}C$, the effect of Pr number on the heat transfer is shown to be more significant than the aspect ratio. Investigating into the effect of the density extremum on the heat transfer from wires, the new heat transfer correlations are suggested with the relation of average Nu mumber vs. modified Ra number. Here, the coefficient values C of correlations are presented as the function of density extremum parameter $R^*$. The effects of the density extremum parameter are also discussed.

  • Formation of intermolecular charge-transfer complexes between 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) and two different series of stilbene derivatives has been studied spectroscopically at $25^{\circ}$C in 1,2-dichloroethane. The compounds of Series I include stilbene and derivatives which have fused phenyl rings on one end of the central ethylene structure and a phenyl ring on the other end. The other Series, II, is comprised of stilbenes which have various para substituents on one of the two phenyl rings. The equilibrium constant, $K_c^{AD}$ and the molar extinction coefficient, ${\varepsilon}_{\lambda}^{AD}$, were determined using the Scott equation. The values of the charge-transfer transition frequency, ${\vu}_AD$ and $K_c{AD}$ correlated well respectively with the ionization potentials of the fused rings of Series Ⅰ or of the compounds of Series II and with the values of ${\sigma}_p$, the Hammett constants of the Series II substituents. trans-4-N,N-Dimethylaminostilbene and trans-4-nitrostilbene were found to be able to participate in electron transfer reaction with TCNQ forming the corresponding anion radical, TCNQ$^-$:

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the future hydrological and water quality change of Man-gyeong river basin (1,602 ㎢) based on future extreme climate change scenarios and reduction of inter-basin water transfer amount using SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool). The SWAT was calibrated (2012~2014) and validated (2016~2018) at 2 water level observation stations (DC, JJ) and 2 water quality observation stations (SR, GJ) considering inter-basin water transfer amount, stream water withdrawal, and point source data. For the streamflow, the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.70 and the average Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) was 0.51 respectively. For the water quality of SS, T-N, and T-P, the R2 was 0.72, 0.80 and 0.72 respectively. The future average streamflow under climate change scenarios increased up to 459 mm/yr, and average SS, T-N and T-P yields also increased up to 19,548 ton/yr, 68,748 kg/yr, and 13,728 kg/yr respectively. When the amount of inter basin water transfer decreased, the streamflow especially decreased in spring and winter periods, and the future water quality yields increased under the influence of precipitation. In order to solve the deterioration of water quality due to decrease in the flow rate and an increase in the load, the amount of inter basin water transfer should be maintained to a certain level.

  • A magneto-current (MC) was investigated for magnetic tunnel transistor (MTT) with amorphous n-type Si film. A relative MC (more than 49.6%) was observed at an emitter-base bias voltage ($V_{EB}$) of 0.65 V at room temperature. Above a $V_{EB}$ of 0.70 V, however, a rapid decrease in MC was observed in the amorphous Si-based MTT. The collector current increasing and transfer ratio as emitter-base voltage were mainly due to the rapid creation electrons of conduction band states in the Si collector. This approach would make integration in various components and systems easier than a MTT grown on a semiconductor wafer.
