가속수명시험을 위한 KTX 구조물의 S-N 선도 추정 (S-N Curve Estimation of a KTX Structure for an Accelerated Life Testing)

  • An accelerated fatigue test is essentially required to maintain the reliability of the actual structure of KTX under operation conditions. However, actual fatigue life cannot be obtained if specimens are not adequate to the conventional fatigue test. Moreover component maker did not provide data of loading stress (S) - cycles at the failure (N). In this study, we suggest a prediction method of the S-N curve for establishing an accelerating test under various load levels. Load history was acquired from the field tests. A Rainflow method was used on the cycle counting of the field load data, and then, an S-N curve was obtained through the iteration process under the condition that the damage index satisfies to 1 in the Miner's rule.

  • 아세톤-물 혼합용매에서 trans-$[Co(AA)_2Cl_2]^+$ 착이온의 가용매분해반응속도를 전도도법과 분광광도법을 사용하여 1~2000bar의 압력범위ㅣ에서 측정하였다. 여기서 AA는 에틸렌디아민(en), N-에틸에틸렌디아민(N-eten), N-메틸에틸렌디아민(N-meen)과 트리메틸렌디아민(tn)을 각각 의미한다. 속도상수에 대한 압력의 영향으로부터 구한 활성화 체적은 AA가 en, N-eten, N-meen 및 tn 일때 각각 -0.2∼0.9 $cm^3mole^{-1}$, -0.2∼0.6 $cm^3mole^{-1}$, -0.8∼6.0 $cm^3mole^{-1}$, 0.7∼7.0$cm^3mole^{-1}$이었다. 이들 착이온의 가용매분해반응성은 excess 자유에너지와 자유에너지 사이클로부터 얻을 결과를 비교하여 검토하였다. 가용매분해반응성은 압력이 감소할수록, 그리고 아세톤의 함량이 증가할수록 $S_N1$ 경향성이 증가하였다. 또한 가용매 분해반응의 메카니즘에 미치는 하전분리 효과도 고찰하였다.

ALE 법에 의한 TiN 박막의 증착 및 특성 (Deposition and Characteristics of TiN Thin Films by Atomic Layer Epitaxy)

  • ALE(atomic layer epitaxy)법을 이용하여 (100)면의 Si 기판위에 TiN 박막을 증착하였다. 증착된 TiN 박막을 XRD, 4-point probe, AFM, AES, SEM등의 장비를 사용하여 분석하였다. ALE법에 의한 TiN의 증착을 위한 반응 전구체(precusor)로는 TEMAT(tetrakis (ethylmethylamino)titanium)와 반응 가스로는 $NH_3$를 사용하였다. 표면 포화반응을 형성하기 위해 각 반응 기체는 TEMAT-$N_2-NH_3-N_2$의 순서로 교대로 반응로에 주입하였다. 그 결과 TiN 박막은 150 ~ 220 $^{\circ)C$에서 자기 제어 성장(self-limiting growth) 기구에 의한 박막 증착 특성을 보였다. 증착된 TiN 박막은 증착율이 4.5 ${\AA}$/ cycle로 일정하였고, 비정질 (amorphous)의 구조를 보였다. 박막의 저항율과 표면 평균 거칠기는 210~230${\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}$cm와 7.9~9.3${\AA}$로 측정되었다. TiN 박막을 2000 ${\AA}$의 두께로 증착하였을 때, 폭이 0.43${\mu}$m이고 단차비 (aspect ratio)가 6인 트렌치 구조에서 매우 우수한 단차피복성을 보였다.

Identification of a Novel Rb-regulated Gene Associated with the Cell Cycle

  • The retinoblastoma (Rb) gene is one of the most important genes in cell cycle regulation and tumorigenesis. Homozygosity for a germ-line Rb mutation results in embryonic lethality and evokes developmental defects associated with inappropriate S-phase entry and high levels of apoptosis. Although Rb has been extensively studied, more target genes need to be identified and characterized to unravel the precise mechanism of Rb function. In order to identify Rb-regulated genes, we analyzed the gene expression profile of Rb-deficient mouse embryo fibroblasts (MEFs), and identified an unknown gene, RbEST47, that is transcriptionally upregulated in Rb-deficient MEFs. This gene is conserved from fruitfly to human. It is expressed in brain, lung, kidney, and testis, and is located on mouse chromosome 2. This region is syntenic to human chromosome 9q34.3, which frequently exhibits loss of heterozygosity in neoplastic diseases. RbEST47 was considerably down-regulated in immortalized cells, and showed cell cycle-dependent expression, suggesting important roles in S and/or G2.

고속철도 강교량의 부식.피로신뢰성 기반 생애주기비용 분석 (Corrosion-Fatigue Reliability-Based Life Cycle Cost Analysis of High-Speed Railway Steel Bridges)

  • As it recently appears that Life Cycle Cost Analysis may be considered as new methodology for economic valuation of infrastructure many researches have been made to assess LCC(Life Cycle Cost) of each facility based on a reasonable methods. In general, LCC is composed of construction cost and expected maintenance repair cost. And especially, maintenance repair cost must be estimated to enhance the reliability through systematic and reasonable methods. However in Korea, because high speed railway steel bridges are recently constructed no direct statistical data are available for the account of the maintenance cost and then their maintenance characteristics are not linear yet. Therefore, the approach proposed in the paper utilizes a theoretical determination and degradation of the corrosion and fatigue of the bridges based on Rahgozar et al.(2006)'s model on fatigue notch factor considering into the corrosion to incorporate the corrosion effect into the fatigue strength reduction model. And then, the corresponding probability of failure is calculated in terms of the reliability index using S-N curve to formulate the fatigue limit state. Therefore, this paper proposes the minimum Life Cycle Cost through optimum maintenance plan analysis of high-speed railway steel bridges under construction. Finally, this paper reviews the proposed model in oder to confirm the applicability and feasibility by appling it to high speed railway steel bridges under construction

S.I. 엔진의 사이클 시뮬레이션 및 이의 확인 실험 (A cycle simulation of the S.I. engine and it's verification test)

  • Engine performance is one of the main objectives specified at the beginning of a new engine design project. The cycle simulation for SI engine is based on the zero-dimensional gas exchange model and a heat release expression by Viebe. This program also requires minimum input data and takes only a short time to run. Heat transfer from cylinder transfer formula. The flow coefficient (effective area) is calculated from valve lift using the standard flow coefficient curve and engine friction is calculated from the Millington and Hartles' engine friction formula. The chemical species considered in burned gas are 6 species CO, CO, H$_{2}$, H$_{2}$O, $O_{2}$, N$_{2}$ and the cylinder pressure, homogeneous cylinder temperature, gas composition and burned fraction are calculated at each crank angle through the cycle. To check the validity and accuracy, experimental study was done with 3 engines for measuring cylinder pressure, indicated mean effective pressure, brake mean effective pressure and air flow rate, etc. Despite its simple assumptions, cycle simulation showes excellent breathing and performance correlation when compared with data of tested engines, and have been proved useful in engine design.

티탄계 초소성합금 SP-700의 저사이클 피로수명곡선의 절곡현상에 대하여 (A Study on the Knee Point of Low-cycle Fatigue Life in High Formability Titanium Alloy SP-700)

  • Previous studies has shown that the curve of low-cycle fatigue life was not expressed with the single line subjected to Manson-Coffin's law type and bent to short life in low ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}_p$ region. The main cause of this phenomenon has been considered that the localization of plastic strain in the crack initiation process fosters the crack initiation. In this study, the low-cycle fatigue life was investigated for each specimens omitted crack initiation process and it was found that fatigue life curve in log(${\Delta}{\varepsilon}_p$)-log($N_f$)was bent in low ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}_p$ region as ever. Therefore, the main cause of appearance of knee point in fatigue life curve is not found in the crack initiation process but in the crack propagation process. In the crack propagation process, the localization of the plastic strain in the vicinity of crack tip and the influence of test environment on the crack propagation rate were observed and these inclinations were more remarkable in low ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}_p$ region. Hence, it was concluded that these two phenomena in the crack propagation process were proved to the main cause which accelerates the crack propagation in low ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}_p$ region and bent the fatigue life curve in result.

Anticancer effects of D-pinitol in human oral squamous carcinoma cells

  • D-pinitol is an analog of 3-methoxy-D-chiro-inositol found in beans and plants. D-pinitol has anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and anticancer effects. Additionally, D-pinitol induces apoptosis and inhibits metastasis in breast and prostate cancers. However, to date, no study has investigated the anticancer effects of D-pinitol in oral cancer. Therefore, in this study, whether the anticancer effects of D-pinitol induce apoptosis, inhibit the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and arrest cell cycle was investigated in squamous epithelial cells. D-pinitol decreased the survival and cell proliferation rates of CAL-27 and Ca9-22 oral squamous carcinoma cells in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. Evidence of apoptosis, including nuclear condensation, poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase, and caspase-3 fragmentation, was also observed. D-pinitol inhibited the migration and invasion of both cell lines. In terms of EMT-related proteins, E-cadherin was increased, whereas N-cadherin, Snail, and Slug were decreased. D-pinitol also decreased the expression of cyclin D1, a protein involved in the cell cycle, but increased the expression of p21, a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor. Hence, D-pinitol induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in CAL-27 and Ca9-22 cells, demonstrating an anticancer effect by decreasing the EMT.

Comparison of Total Protein, DNA, and RNA Contents by Corpus Luteum in Various Stages of Estrous Cycle and Pregnancy

  • This study was conducted to measure the total protein, DNA, and RNA contents of corpus luteum(CL) in various stages of estrous cycle and pregnancy. CLs were collected from a local slaughterhouse and stages of the estrous cycle of CL were classified as CL1~2, days 1 to 10; CL3(with/without central cavity), days 11 to 17; CL4, days 18 to 20 by method of Ireland et. al(1980) and stages of the pregnancy of CL were classified as P1~3, months 11~3: P4~6, months 4~6; P7~9, months 7~9 of pregnancy. CL3 with/without central cavity(CC) was identified as described by Kastelic et. al.(1990)-CL with CC, more than 2mm in diameter; CL without CC, less than 2mm in diameter. In total protein content, CL3 with CC was significantly lower than P7~9(p<.05). The total DNA content was lower in CL3 with CC than CL3 without CC and CL4(p<.05). In protein : DNA ratio, CL3 with CC was significantly lower than CL4(p<.05), CL3 without CC was significantly lower than P7~9(p<.05), CL4 was significantly lower than CL3 with CC, P1~3 and P7~9(p<.05). No differences were observed in RNA content, protein:RNA ratio, RNA/DNA of CLs in stages of estrous cycle and pregnancy.

Repairable k-out-n system work model analysis from time response

  • A novel reliability-based work model of k/n (G) system has been developed. Unit failure probability is given based on the load and strength distributions and according to the stress-strength interference theory. Then a dynamic reliability prediction model of repairable k/n (G) system is established using probabilistic differential equations. The resulting differential equations are solved and the value of k can be determined precisely. The number of work unit k in repairable k/n (G) system is obtained precisely. The reliability of whole life cycle of repairable k/n (G) system can be predicted and guaranteed in the design period. Finally, it is illustrated that the proposed model is feasible and gives reasonable prediction.
