A Study of Semiotic Analysis of Body Expression Image Shown in the Body Profile of Female Influencer's SNS (여성 인플루언서의 SNS 바디프로필에 나타난 신체표현 이미지의 기호학적 분석 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to interpret the semantic actions of body image symbolized in body expression images shown by micro-influencers body profiles to understand the body profile phenomenon of the MZ generation. As a result of collecting body profile data from micro-influencers, the body profile image types of female influencers on SNS were classified into four types, Athletic, Slim body, Natural, and, Glamorous. Images representing each type were analyzed using the Roland Barthes' Myth model analysis frame. As a result of the semantic analysis, influencers were found to be very active and bold, emphasizing certain body parts according to the type of body image they pursue. Fashion is strategically used to emphasize these aspects. It was found that the ideology of a 'subjective modern woman' was commonly expressed through emphasis on visual signs. This study is meaningful in that it can indirectly lead to the understanding the fashion culture expressed by the MZ generation and provide consumer information and essential data that can be used for communication strategies in the fashion market.

Dialectical Images: William Carlos Williams's Avant-Garde Poetry

  • William Carlos Williams discovers important sources of inspiration in the revolutionary avant-garde movements, in particular, Dada and Surrealism and attempted to embody the innovations in them in his poetic theory and practice. Williams's passion to create an indigenous American poetic work is compatible with his Dadaist experimentation with objets trouvés. Williams pays deep attention to objets trouvés, physical objects and marginalized people he comes across and transcribes his observations with poetic words freed from their instrumental contexts. In his characteristic poems written in the 1920s and 1930s, Williams records the social ruination and his task to give voice to the conflictual and fragmentary character of modernity is pursued through the Surrealist formulation of montage. In the Surrealist formulation of montage, the dialectical image is a central trope for reading the myth of modernity; it is positioned as both subject and object in the historiographic narratives of Walter Benjamin and Williams. As Benjamin tries to obliterate all traces of the author in the Arcades Project, Williams's montage poems like Spring and All only disperse argument into materialistic, dialectical images. The dialectical image in Williams's poetics becomes an organon of historical awakening so that truth can emerge from an unmediated juxtaposition of "things."

Carl Schmitt's Hamlet or Hecuba: Political Representation and the Problem of Sovereignty (칼 슈미트의 『햄릿, 또는 헤큐바』 -정치적 재현과 주권의 문제)

  • This paper interrogates what a new point Schmitt shows concerning the problem of sovereignty in Hamlet or Hecuba in comparison with his Political Theology. Schmitt reveals his political stand on sovereignty through ‘political representation’ that connects the politics to the aesthetics in Hamlet or Hecuba since Hamlet is above all aesthetic work as play. He stresses the determining effect of political reality over the play as he links the story of Hamlet to the tragic family of James I and the religious conflicts of the Stuart dynasty. This leads to, on the one hand, supporting the myth of absolute sovereignty by elevating Hamlet to the transcendental and the exceptional status of sovereign. However, Schmitt’s intent over the absolute sovereignty is, on the other hand, demolished with the two shadows that he scrutinized through the couple of Hamlet and James I: first, the suspect that Gertrude(Mary Stuart) was involved in the murder of Hamlet(James I)’s father, and second, the century’s conflicts with religious reformation and civil war. The perils of sovereignty are manifested not only in these two, “the taboo of the Queen,” and “the Hamletization of the avenger.” It is most of all evidenced in Hamlet itself that subverts the unconditional sovereignty consistently. Hamlet’s selfreflective remarks likening the king to the beggar and the reality of Denmark succession prove that Hamlet’s political discourse is totally different from the politics that accentuates the divine sovereignty.

What is Adolescent in Korean Culture? (한국문화에서 청소년이란 무엇인가?)

  • The present paper tried to review psychological perspectives on adolescent in Korean culture. We suggested the starting point for study of adolescent should be on the definition of adolescent, i.e., what is adolescent. In oder to do it, we reviewed the perspective of the old generation, especially negative one, and myth and psychologism of developmental psychology on adolescent. Accordingly, we'd like to suggest an alternative approach on adolescent in psychology. That is called activity-environmental focused approach for studying adolescent. We also argued the value of adolescent in modern society and suggested how to view and approach the adolescent in psychology.

The Study of the Recognition of Sexual Roles, the Demand of Sexual Education and the Consciousness of Sexual Education in the Korean teachers (한국 교사들의 성역할인지, 성교육요구 및 성교육 의식정도에 관한 조사연구)

  • The study was attempted and executed to reach the following conclusions. The period was May 1st through June 15th, 1998 and the subjects were 302 teachers consisting of School Nurses and general teachers in Pusan city. 1) The degrees of recognition of sexual roles by the subjects were compared as follows : The average point as to the recognition of sexual roles in the occupational functions by the school nurses was 2.41, higher than that of the general teachers. The average points as to the recognition of sexual roles in the attitudes by the school nurses was 2.28, higher than that of the general teachers. The average points as to the recognition of sexual roles in the abilitis was 2.26, higher than that of the general teachers. These ascertain that school nurses recognize the man has higher superities in the occupational functions, the attitudes and the abilities than the woman. 2) The degrees of demand of sexual education by the subjects were compared as follows : As to the degrees of demand of sexual education, the school nurses showed higher demand than the general teachers in the concepts such as 'the society and sexualities, physiology and actual education'. 3) The levels of the consciousness of sexual education by the subjects were compared as follows : the general teachers showed the more strict attitudes than the school nurses against the lascivious sex objects and wanted the punishment against the related students and the general teachers have myth. They claimed that their family have no relation with the sexual violence or pornography. As to the masturbation, the general teachers showed the more conservative attitudes. 4) The opinions by the subjects as to the well-qualified person in charge of sexual education in school were compared as follows : 77.3% of the school nurses, and 36.1% of the general teachers supported the school nurses.

  • This study was conducted in order to look for how to create added values by combining cultural contents with other industries effectively. For this purpose, we examined in what directions the tourist industry, which is the main industry of the Jeju Special Self-governing Province, should be combined with cultural contents. It is widely admitted that cultural contents can create various added values, but there have been insufficient efforts to develop cultural contents and link them to added values. In particular, local self-governing bodies' understanding of cultural contents is seriously poor. In order to improve this, we need to have appropriate perception of cultural contents and to change our idea for effective linking of cultural contents to added values. Thus, this study proposed that the development of cultural contents is achieved not simply through the development of contents but through the combination of various methods including the establishment of product development strategies, the establishment of tourist program development strategies, and the integration of slogans.

Revernacularization of Classicism and the Matter of the Constructional Logic - A Study on Gunnar Asplund's Woodland Chapel (1918-20) - (고전주의의 재토착화와 구축적 논리의 문제 - 군너 아스플룬트의 우드랜드 채플(1918-20)에 관한 연구 -)

  • The purpose of this paper is to research Gunnar Asplund's Woodland Chapel (1918-20) in terms of the revernacularization of classicism and to investigate into the matter of the constructional logic. The term 'revernacularization of classicism' was used by Alan Colquhoun to explain the process to return to the pure sources of classical architecture, and the case of a successful fusion of classicism and vernacular traditions was suggested by Demetri Porphyrios through Scandinavian Doricist sensibility in the early 20th century. Porphyrios's classicism, not as style but as sensibility, is premised on a constructional logic of vernacular, and is to achieve an aesthetic quality by its mythical elaboration. Woodland Chapel, a representative of the Scandinavian Doricism according to him, illustrates characteristics of the revernacularized classicism as in the fact that it thickly displays vernacular images at the same time as relying on classicism; in the return to primitive simplicity; and in the mythopoeic power. However, the constructional logic of this building was obscured in the capital of the portico columns, the interior dome, and the whole structure of the roof. Confronting this paradox, we have to remember that although Porphyrios emphasized the constructional logic he opened an aesthetic exit of the mythical elaboration, which is in accord with the concept of the tectonic as the poetics of construction. Woodland Chapel assumes atectonic features but is never anti-tectonic. Asplund intensified a poetic effect by setting the myth over construction in the chapel, and so it can be seen as a key example of the revernacularized classicism with the Doricist sensibility.

For the Deconstruction of the History of Western Architecture as a Discourse - A Reflection on the Education of the Architectural History in Korea - (우리 서양건축사 교육의 반성 - 담론으로서 '서양건축사'를 해체하기 위하여 -)

  • This study is on the pedagogical convention of architectural history in Korea, especially that of Western Architecture. Recent institutional change in architectural school in Korea has caused overall restructuring of academic program. In spite of extension in the field of history there was no progress of method and way of thinking. There is no change in the point of view to see the western architecture and its history as a unique and specialized phenomenon in the civilization of mankind. Because of no recognition about for what, for whom, and how to, and because of orientalism, the cultural position of western architectural history and its narrative was not asked. With the help of post-colonialism, de-constructivism and critical historiography this paper tries to show the fundamental premise of western architectural history as a myth and show its prejudice as not being justifiable. The background of the discourse there has been a representation effect with regard to knowledge as a power. we need to escape from this kind of cognitional frame With the analysis of the its premise and narrative we can find it is a historical construct that was made in the age of imperialism. In fact it has a lot of false information and problematic point of view. The Identity and originality of western architecture and its history has no logical reason or foundation if we think that it depends on the difference and comparison with other civilization. For example the explanation of its historical origin western architecture has big difference with Islamic architecture in spite of the resemblance each other. This paper try to show several reasons that discourse of western architectural history can not be survived any longer. So we need to reconstruct new pedagogy with deconstruction for the students of non western, or Korean students. Because it has important effect to see and think about architecture and its history.

Discovering child' and the Bauhaus: Cult of Innocence in the Modernism (어린이의 발견'과 바우하우스: 모더니즘에 나타난 '순수함'의 숭배)

  • This study was intended to enlighten two-faced desires of the Bauhaus, revealing that it is closely related with the child education rooted in Frobel. The Bauhaus declared to disconnect with the traditional education standing for Academies and asked students to go bad to such 'innocence' as children had. The faculty of Bauhaus tried to understand of the essence of the world through primary geometrical forms as 'purity' without any inessential things as $Fr{\ddot{o}}bel$ did. Their attempts not to admit any nonessential things, however, and dinging to purity was rather a sort of neurosis. The modernism is not different from the child art hiding sadistic and dictatorial elements behind the myth of 'innocence'. Considering the child education was born and grown with nutrition from the bourgeois development, it was not compatible with democratic ideals of the Bauhaus. While the new types of schools for children provided an excellent preparation for the Bauhaus to initiate a new design education, people of the Bauhaus were going toward a different direction from aspiration of the bourgeois, strong supporters of the new schools.

A Study on the Traditional Sash of‘She’Ethnic Group in China (중국 소수민족 이족의 채대)

  • This paper is focused on the traditional sash weaving handicraft of‘She’ethnic group, which is located in Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangdong province of China. This research is main-ly based on the field work, analyzed and inter-preted the traditional sash in systematic and reasoned way. The summary of this study are as follows : 1. On its technological aspect, weaving structure of the traditional sash is made of warp rod backed weaving. The used tool is primitive one but the weaving process includes scientific method. 2. From the social-cultural point of view, the sash ha been the symbol of love towards her lover. Every woman of this group had taken training for this sash weaving from a child. 3. On its ethnological aspect, it has been long history and has interchanged with other ethnic group like Miao, Han and also Okinawa country of Japan. The pattern inside this sash are almost looks like characters, but they are not Chinese characters whereas are the inde-pendent code of‘She’ group and have been inherent from ancestors and which will be tran-smitted to their posterity. These independent code of‘She’group are the traditional message to their later generation implicating their natural circumstances, human relationship, ethnic myth, spirit etc. 4. I recognize that the pattern inside the sash is defined as the communicative code and in comparison to language, it is more repetition and less apparent as close code. Nowadays China has been developed es-pecially in the economical fields rapidly. Under the circumstances traditional weaving culture of ethnic groups has been facing a crisis of disappearance, which will be a great loss for the country as well as the human beings. For this reason, I emphasize that it is very immediate to make co-researches into the material culture of Chinese ethnic groups.
