  • Real-time traffic detection scheme based on Computer Vision is capable of efficient traffic control using automatically computed traffic information and obstacle detection in moving automobiles. Traffic information is extracted by segmenting vehicle region from road images, in traffic detection system. In this paper, we propose the advanced segmentation of vehicle from road images using multiple local region information. Because multiple local region overlapped in the same lane is processed sequentially from small, the traffic detection error can be corrected.

Small Target Detecting and Tracking Using Mean Shifter Guided Kalman Filter

  • Because of the importance of small target detection in infrared images, many studies have been carried out in this area. Using a Kalman filter and mean shift algorithm, this study proposes an algorithm to track multiple small moving targets even in cases of target disappearance and appearance in serial infrared images in an environment with many noises. Difference images, which highlight the background images estimated with a background estimation filter from the original images, have a relatively very bright value, which becomes a candidate target area. Multiple target tracking consists of a Kalman filter section (target position prediction) and candidate target classification section (target selection). The system removes error detection from the detection results of candidate targets in still images and associates targets in serial images. The final target detection locations were revised with the mean shift algorithm to have comparatively low tracking location errors and allow for continuous tracking with standard model updating. In the experiment with actual marine infrared serial images, the proposed system was compared with the Kalman filter method and mean shift algorithm. As a result, the proposed system recorded the lowest tracking location errors and ensured stable tracking with no tracking location diffusion.

Three Dimensional Target Volume Reconstruction from Multiple Projection Images

  • The aim of this study is to reconstruct the 3D target volume from multiple projection images. It was assumed that we were already aware of the target position exactly, and all processes were performed in Target Coordinates whose origin was the center of the target. We used six projections: two projections were used to make a Reconstruction Box and four projections were for image acquisition. Reconstruction Box was made up of voxels of 3D matrix. Projection images were transformed into 3D volume in this virtual box using geometrical based back-projection method. Algorithm was applied to an ellipsoid model and horse-shoe shaped model. Projection images were created using C program language by geometrical method and reconstruction was also accomplished using C program language and Matlab(The Mathwork Inc., USA). For ellipsoid model, reconstructed volume was slightly overestimated but target shape and position was proved to be correct. For horse-shoe shaped model, reconstructed volume was somewhat different from original target model but there was a considerable improvement in target volume determination.

연속 영상 분석에 의한 다중 차량 검출 방법의 연구 (A Study on The Detection of Multiple Vehicles Using Sequence Image Analysis)

  • 본 연구는 연속된 컬러 영상으로부터 전방의 차량과 차선을 검출하는 과정에서 연속 영상 분석을 통하여 다중 차량을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 하나의 프레임에서 차량 후보 영역의 검출은 그림자 특징과 에지 성분을 이용한다. 그리고, 다중 차량 영역을 검출하는 방법은 연속된 영상에 존재하는 차량 후보 영역들의 차량 추정값과(EOV)과 누적 유사도 함수(ASF)를 분석하여 차량일 가능성을 검사한다. 대부분의 연구 방법이 전방의 한 차량을 검출하는데 비해 본 연구에서는 여러 차량을 검출하는 방법을 제시하였으며, 교통량이 많고, 차선 변경이 자주 있는 경우에도 차량의 검출이 가능하도록 한다. 제안된 방식의 효과를 검증하기 위해 노트북 PC와 PC용 CCD 카메라로 도로에서의 영상을 촬영하고 차량 검출 알고리즘을 적용한 처리 시간, 정확도 및 차량검지 결과를 보인다.

3차원 다중 치과 CT 영상의 고화질 스티칭 기법 (High-quality Stitching Method of 3D Multiple Dental CT Images)

  • In this paper, we propose a high-quality stitching method of 3D multiple dental CT images. First, a weighted function is generated using the difference of two distance functions that calculate a distance from the nearest edge of an overlapped region to each position. And a blending ratio propagation function for two gradient vectors is parameterized by the difference and magnitude of gradient vectors that is also applied by the weighted function. When the blending ratio is propagated, an improved region growing scheme is proposed to decide the next position and calculate the blending intensity. The proposed method produces a high-quality stitching image. Our method removes the seam artifact caused by the mean intensity difference between images and vignetting effect. And it removes double edges caused by local misalignment. Experimental results showed that the proposed method produced high-quality stitching images for ten patients. Our stitching method could be usefully applied into the stitching of 3D or 2D multiple images.

Physical interpretation of concrete crack images from feature estimation and classification

  • Detecting cracks on a concrete structure is crucial for structural maintenance, a crack being an indicator of possible damage. Conventional crack detection methods which include visual inspection and non-destructive equipment, are typically limited to a small region and require time-consuming processes. Recently, to reduce the human intervention in the inspections, various researchers have sought computer vision-based crack analyses: One class is filter-based methods, which effectively transforms the image to detect crack edges. The other class is using deep-learning algorithms. For example, convolutional neural networks have shown high precision in identifying cracks in an image. However, when the objective is to classify not only the existence of crack but also the types of cracks, only a few studies have been reported, limiting their practical use. Thus, the presented study develops an image processing procedure that detects cracks and classifies crack types; whether the image contains a crazing-type, single crack, or multiple cracks. The properties and steps in the algorithm have been developed using field-obtained images. Subsequently, the algorithm is validated from additional 227 images obtained from an open database. For test datasets, the proposed algorithm showed accuracy of 92.8% in average. In summary, the developed algorithm can precisely classify crazing-type images, while some single crack images may misclassify into multiple cracks, yielding conservative results. As a result, the successful results of the presented study show potentials of using vision-based technologies for providing crack information with reduced human intervention.

다중위상래핑과 실수값 함수를 이용한 효율적인 광 워터마킹 (Efficient Optical Watermark Using Multiple Phase Wrapping and Real-Valued Functions)

  • 본 논문에서는 다중위상래핑과 실수값 함수를 이용하는 효율적인 광 워터마킹을 제안하였다. 원 영상 삽입 과정에서 숨겨야 될 두 원 영상을 제로 패딩 시켜서 입력 평면의 두 개의 사분면에 하나씩 위치시킨 후 푸리에 변환을 수행하고 다중위상래핑을 적용하여 무작위 정 실수 값을 가지는 패턴을 생성시킨 후 하나의 실수부를 취하여 복호화 키를, 두 패턴 모두의 허수부의 합을 취하여 은닉영상을 생성시킨다. 위에서 생성된 은닉영상을 인간 시각으로는 감지 할 수 없도록 감쇄화 시킨 후 커버 영상과 일차 선형 변환 시켜서 배포영상을 제작한다. 복호화 과정에서는 배포영상과 복호화 키가 곱해져서 광학적인 역 푸리에 변환을 수행하고 출력 평면에서 원점에 대하여 대칭인 원영상이 간단히 복원된다. 컴퓨터 모의 실험과 광실험을 통하여 제안된 워터마킹이 광학적인 시스템에 적용 가능함을 확인하였다.

다중 영상과 호모그래피 행렬을 이용한 소실점 위치 향상 알고리즘 (Algorithm for improving the position of vanishing point using multiple images and homography matrix)

  • 본 논문은 다중 영상과 호모그래피 행렬을 통해 소실점 위치의 정확도를 향상시키는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 단일 영상만을 활용하여 소실점 검출이 가능하지만, 여러 영상의 정보를 활용하여 소실점의 위치를 보정하면 소실점 위치의 정확도를 더 향상시킬 수 있다. 위치 정확도가 향상된 소실점을 통해 더 정확한 실내공간 정보 검출이 가능하다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 3개의 영상을 입력받아 정보를 검출한 후 영상의 벽면 간의 호모그래피 행렬을 검출하고, 검출된 호모그래피를 이용하여 소실점의 위치를 변환한다. 최종적으로 변환된 소실점 중 최적의 위치에 있는 소실점을 찾아내어 소실점 위치를 보정 함으로써 소실점 위치의 정확도를 향상시킨다. 실험 결과를 통해 기존의 알고리즘과 제안하는 알고리즘의 정확도를 비교 분석한다. 제안하는 알고리즘을 통해 소실점 위치에 대한 오차 각도가 약 1.62% 감소함을 확인하였고, 이를 통해 더 정밀한 소실점 검출이 가능하였다. 또한, 제안한 알고리즘을 통해 향상된 소실점을 이용하여 검출한 레이아웃이 기존 알고리즘의 결과에 비교해 더 정확한 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

Double Random Phase Encryption using Orthogonal Encoding for Multiple-Image Transmission

  • In this paper we extend double random phase encryption (DRPE) using orthogonal encoding from single-image transmission to multiple-image transmission. The orthogonal encoding for multiple images employs a larger Hadamard matrix than that for a single image, which can improve security. We provide a scheme for DRPE with an orthogonal codec, and a method for orthogonal encoding/decoding for multiple-image transmission. Finally, simulation results verify that the DRPE using orthogonal encoding for multiple images is more secure than both the conventional DRPE and the DRPE using orthogonal encoding for a single image.

  • We propose a new computing method for Fourier hologram of 3D objects captured by lens array. Fourier hologram of the two objects which positioned at different distances can be calculated using multiple orthographic view images. The size of the Fourier hologram is in proportion to the number of the orthographic view images. By repeating the orthographic view images, the size of the Fourier hologram can be increased. The principle is verified by numerically reconstructing the hologram which is synthesized from the orthographic images captured optically.
