Development of Real-Time Displacement Measurement System for Multiple Moving Objects of construction structures using Image Processing Techniques (영상처리기술을 이용한 건축 구조물의 실시간 변위측정 시스템의 개발)

  • The paper introduces a development result for displacement measurement system of multiple moving objects based on image processing technique. The image processing method adopts inertia moment theory for obtaining the centroid of the targets and basic processing algorithms of gray, binary, closing, labeling and etc. To get precise displacement measurement in spite of multiple moving targets, a CCD camera with zoom is used and the position of camera is changed by a pan/tilt system. The fiducial marks on the fixed positions are used as the sensing points for the image processing to recognize the position errors in directions of X -Y coordinates. The precise alignment device is pan /tilt of X - Y type and the pan/tilt is controlled by DC servomotors which are driven by 80c196kc microprocessor based controller. The centers of the fiducial marks are obtained by a inertia moment method. By applying the developed precise position control system for multiple targets, the displacement of multiple moving targets are detected automatically and are stored in the database system in a real time. By using database system and internet, displacement data can be confirmed at a great distance and analyzed. The developed system shows the effectiveness such that it realizes the precision about 0.12mm in the position control of X -Y coordinates.

  • For visual navigation, mobile robot can use a stereo camera which has large field of view. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to detect and recognize human face on the basis of such camera system. In this paper, a new coarse to fine detection algorithm is proposed. For coarse detection, nearly face-like areas are found in entire image using dual ellipse templates. And, detailed alignment of facial outline and features is performed on the basis of view- based multiple appearance model.   • This study aims at aligning multiple wafers to reduce wafer handling time in wafer processes. We designed a multilevel structure for a prealigner which can handle multiple wafer simultaneously in a system. The system consists of gripping parts, kinematic parts, vacuum chucks, pneumatic units, hall sensors and a DSP controller. Aligning procedure has two steps: mechanical gripping and notch finding. In the first step, a wafer is aligned in XY directions using 4-point mechanical contact. The rotational error can be found by detecting a signal in a notch using hall sensors. A dual prealigner was designed for 300mm wafers and constructed for a performance test. The accuracy was monitored by checking the movement of a notch in a machine vision. The result shows that the dual prealigner has enough performance as commercial products.

Quantitative evaluation and affecting factors of post-treatment relapse tendency (교정치료 후 나타나는 재발 경향에 대한 정량적 평가와 영향을 미치는 요소에 대한 연구)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to quantitatively evaluate relapse tendency after orthodontic treatment and determine the contributing factors by using the American Board of Orthodontics objective grading system (ABO-OGS). Methods: The subjects were 80 patients with more than 2 years of retention period after completing orthodontic treatment at the dental hospitals of Busan University, Kyunghee University, and Dankook University. The posttreatment (T2) and post-retention (T3) ABO-OGS measurements were analyzed in relation to age, gender, Angle's classification, extraction, retention period, and pretreatment condition (initial peer assessment rating (PAR) index, T1) by multiple regression analysis. Results: Among the 7 ABO-OGS criteria, alignment worsened but occlusal contact and interproximal contact improved in T3, but not in T2 ($p$ < 0.01). The 4 other criteria showed no significant differences. Multiple regression analysis showed that alignment, occlusal relationship, overjet, and interproximal contact were significant linear models, but with a low explanation power. Age, gender, Angle's classification, extraction, retention period, and pretreatment condition (initial PAR index, T1) had little influence on the ABO-OGS changes between T3 and T2. Conclusions: An orthodontist's understanding of posttreatment relapse tendency can be useful in diagnosis and during patient consultation.

  • This paper presents the development of InGaAsP multiple quantum well asymmetric Fabry-Perot modulators(AFPM), which have a vertical structure and high performance and describes measurements of devices operating at 10GHz for next generation broadband wireless communication applications such as picocell systems. Advantages of the AFPM include low drive voltage, which is less than -2V, and -3dB coupling loss, good flatness of the frequency response and simple fiber alignment. A simple link demonstration has been introduced, resulting in 92dB/Hz spurious free dynamic range and 40dB inter-modulation distortion. This modulator could be use for broadband radio over fiber systems such as picocell and multiple RF links.

The Alignment and Deformity of the Upper Extremity in Hereditary Multiple Exostoses (유전성 다발성 외골종 환자에서 상지 변형)

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to analyze the incidence and the anatomical distributions of HME (Hereditary Multiple Exostoses) on upper limbs and its related change in alignment of the upper limbs in HME patients. Materials and Methods: Thirty eight patients who had been diagnosed HME between 2001 and 2009, were categorized into two groups; (1) group A (1-2 involvements); (2) group B (${\geq}$3 involvements). We checked the carrying angle, VAS (Visual Analogue Scale), limitations in daily activities, cosmetic satisfaction according to the number of exostoses invasion. Results: Among the 38 patients, 23 patients (43 cases) had exostoses in the upper limbs. The locations of exostoses in the upper limbs were proximal humerus in 33 cases (30%), distal ulna in 31 cases (28.2%), and distal radius in 24 cases (21.8%). The carrying angle of group A and B was $10.7^{\circ}$, $13.8^{\circ}$, VAS was 1.3, 3.5, and the limitations in daily activities was 7.3, 6.6 of 8 points. The cosmetic satisfactory cases were 13 and 10 cases, respectively. Conclusion: The deformity in upper limbs was observed in 65% of the HME patients. As the number of invasion increases, carrying angle and VAS were increased but limitations in daily activities and cosmetic satisfaction were decreased.

  • Fabrication of photosensitive carbon nanotubes paste and its post-treatment has been developed for high resolution with good electron emission uniformity. We report novel post-treatment techniques including rubber-rolling and multiple field emission cycling from which we could improve the field emission properties of printed carbon nanotubes. These techniques would be easily applicable to large area field emission display using paste of carbon nanotubes

  • Before other statistical data analysis the preprocessing steps should be performed adequately to have meaningful results. These steps include processes such as baseline correction, normalization, denoising, and multiple alignment. In this paper an algorithm for baseline correction is proposed with using the piecewise cubic Hermite interpolation with block-selected points and local minima after denoising for SELDI or MALDI mass spectrometry data.

  • 본 연구는 생물정보학(Bioinformatics)의 가장 기초적인 분야중 하나인, 새롭게 밝혀진 유전자 서열과 이미 밝혀진 유전자 서열 사이의 유사성(similarity)이나 상동성(homology)을 찾기 위한 방법에 대한 연구 중 지역 서열정렬로 사용하는 알고리즘인 Smith-Waterman 알고리즘이 갖고 있는 문제를 파악한다. 긴 서열에 대한 선호를 막고 대신 부분적인 지역 정렬을 다수 개 찾아 정렬시키는 알고리즘을 제안하기로 한다.
