Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sedentary behavior on subjective health in Korean adolescents. Methods: This study is designed as a cross-sectional study. The study sample comprised of 60,040 middle and high school students primarily at the age of 12 to 17. Using data from the 14th (2018) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted. Results: The rate of engaging in sedentary behavior for less than 2 hours was 28.4% and for more than 4 hours was 28.2% in Korean adolescents. In the result from the logistic regression analysis, compared to engaging in sedentary behavior for 2 hours or less, the adjusted odds ratio was 1.15 for over 4 hours, with other factors controlled. Conclusion: It is necessary to actively develop and promote active leisure activities and limit excessive media exposure and supplementary learning for adolescents.
The yield and quality of a micromanufacturing process are important management factors. In real-world situations, it is difficult to achieve a high yield from a manufacturing process because the products are produced through multiple nanoscale manufacturing processes. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the processes and equipment that lead to low yields. This paper proposes an analytical method to identify the processes and equipment that cause a defect in the plastic ball grid array (PBGA) during the manufacturing process using logistic regression and stepwise variable selection. The proposed method was tested with the lot trace records of a real work site. The records included the sequence of equipment that the lot had passed through and the number of faults of each type in the lot. We demonstrated that the test results reflect the real situation in a PBGA manufacturing process, and the major equipment parameters were then controlled to confirm the improvement in yield; the yield improved by approximately 20%.
Objectives: This is one of the first efforts to describe incidence of alcohol-related problems and to identify environmental correlates associated with them among colleges. Methods: Date were collected by a sample of 105 college administrators who are in charge of student affairs in colleges nationwide through self-administrated questionnaire. Both logistic and linear multiple regression analyses were employed to identify the correlates associated with alcohol-related problems. Results: Most of colleges(76.6%) under study reported to have at least one alcohol-related problem in previous years. Interpersonal violence was alcohol-related problem taken placed most frequently, followed by making noise episode, having property damaged and motor vehicle accidents. Logistic regression analysis identified factors associated with incidents of alcohol related problems. They included being private colleges, numbers of prevention activities, product promotion and marketing by alcohol industry and alcohol accessibility to drinking context. Multiple regression analyses showed that correlates associated with numbers of alcohol-related problems included being a private college, being located in rural area, having drinking density, product promotion and availability of alternative activities to drinking. Conclusions: Environmental correlates were associated with incidence of alcohol related problems in colleges nationwide. Policy implications were discussed.
Purposes: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between risk behaviors and smoking in Korean adolescents. Methods: This study used data from online survey of youth health behavior in 2017. Data from a total of 54,411 people (27,139 male, 27,272 female) were included in the analysis. chi-square test, simple logistic regression, multiple logistic regression were performed using SAS 9.4. Findings: Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that risk behaviors such as drinking alcohol experience, sexual experience, drug use experience and high caffeine energy drinks intake experience had a significant effect on smoking. Adolescents with drinking experience were more likely to smoking than those who had no experience(OR=8.58, 95% CI: 7.67~9.60). Adolescents with sexual experience were more likely to smoking than those who had no experience(OR=4.47, 95% CI: 3.91~5.11). Adolescents with drug use experience were more likely to smoking than those who had no experience(OR=2.32, 95% CI: 1.63~3.32). Also, adolescents with high-caffeine energy drinks intake experience were more likely to smoking than those who had no experience(OR=1.37, 95% CI: 1.23~1.53). Practical Implications: All the risk behaviors were significantly associated with smoking rates. Results of this study suggest that physicians and health workers in medical institutions and health centers should simultaneously serve education and consultation for the smoking cessation as well as for the prevention of risk behaviors.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the experience of falls and identify risk factors associated with falls. Methods: The participants were 233 community-dwelling elderly people in two cities. Data were collected by interviewing the elderly with structured questionnaires from May to June, 2012. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and multiple logistic regression were performed using SPSS version 17.0. Results: Age, educational level, living arrangement, health status, the use of assistive devices, the number of medication, hypertension, arthralgia, dizziness, fall efficacy, fear of falling, activity of daily living, and quality of life were significant associated with fall experience. Through multiple logistic regression analysis, arthralgia, dizziness, fall efficacy, and fear of falling were identified as significant predictors of falls. Conclusion: It is important to identify the risk factors for falls among the elderly living in community. Fall prevention interventions should be multifactorial, especially for the elderly who were identified as the high risk group.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the personal and social environmental factors affecting leisure time physical activity (LTPA) among adults living in rural communities. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a convenience sample of 282 adults living in three rural towns of Chungcheongbuk province. Leisure time physical activity was assessed through the Korean version of the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), and social influence and social cohesion of social environment were assessed using reliable and validated measures. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore personal and social environmental factors associated with LTPA. Results: The overall prevalence of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) was 40.0%. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that LTPA participation was associated with gender (OR=2.60, 95% CI=1.47-4.58), healthy eating (OR=1.15, 95% CI=1.01-1.31), unhealthy eating (OR=0.70, 95% CI=0.53-0.93) and social influence for physical activity (OR=1.11, 95% CI=1.03-1.20). However, social cohesion was not correlated with engaging in LTPA. Conclusion: Both personal and social environmental factors are associated with LPTA among rural adults living in Eup-Myen regions. Interventions to promote LTPA would likely benefit from considering healthy dietary intake and social influence for physical activity.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to obtain the community residents' support and approval on the water fluoridation program in Mokpo, Korea. Objective: This study is examined the factors affecting forms of untreated experiences in persons with physical disability. Method: The data collected from 461 persons with physical disability in community. Based on the Behavioral Model of Andersen, predisposing, enabling, and need factors are hypothesized to affect persons with physical disability's untreated experiences. The data were analyzed by statistical methods such as frequency and multiple logistic regression analysis. Result: Participation rates of untreated experiences were 26.7%. The significant factors of persons with physical disability's untreated experiences are predisposing factors (gender, partner, and religion), enabling factors (income, private insurance, information of assistive device, disability discrimination, and subjective discrimination), and need factors(subjective health status health screening and chronic disease). Also untreated experiences related to gender, subjective health status, health screening, and chronic disease factors using multiple logistic regression analysis. Conclusion: Implications of the findings were discussed and the recommendations for the improvement of health care utilization, subjective health statue. Especially, development of health education and program should be needed persons with physical disability.
Purpose: Bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) improves survival. However, there have been few studies on the performance of bystander CPR in Korea. This study was done to identify the reasons for being unwilling to perform CPR, and to investigate the factors associated with performing CPR on a stranger in an emergency situation. Method: The participants in this study were 444 local residents. Data were collected by using self-reported questionnaires from May 1 to June 30, 2010. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and multiple logistic regression were performed using SAS version 9.1. Result: Only 32.2% of respondents reported being willing to perform CPR on a stranger. The major reason for not being willing to perform CPR on a stranger was "have no confidence to perform CPR well". From multiple logistic regression analysis, statistically significant predictors of CPR performance on a stranger were found to be a higher educational level (OR=6.11, 95% CI 1.46-25.52), neighbors with angina pectoris or myocardial infarction (OR=6.65, 95% CI 3.93-11.24), and having confidence of performing CPR (OR=3.02, 95% CI1.78-5.14). Conclusion: CPR education (including automatic external defibrillator) should be offered to family members and neighbors. In addition, the Good Samaritan Law must be given wider publicity at the national level.
