  • Touch interface has been introduced as one of the most common input devices that are widely used in the Smart Device. Recently Force-Touch interface, a new approach of input method, having the power recognition mechanism, has been appeared in Smart industries. Force-Touching determining multiple things (the geographical and pressure values of touching point) in one touching act allows users to provide more than one input methods in a limited environments. Force-Touching Device is required different user communicational interaction than other common Smart devices because it is possible to recognize various inputs in the one act. It means that Force-Touching is only able to understand and to use the pressure sensitive values, not other Smart input methods. So, we built Force-Touch-Cover that makes typical Smart-Device to have Force-Touching interfaces. We analysis the accuracy of the Force-Touching-Cover's sensor and also assessment the changes in pressure values depending on the pressure position. Via this Paper, We propose the implement of user-oriented Force-Touching interface that is based on users' feedback as our conclusion.

  • There are a few representative wireless network access technologies used widely. WWAN is celluar based telecommunication networks supporting high mobility, WLAN ensures high data rate within hotspot coverage, and WDMB support both data and broadcasting services correspondingly. However, these technologies include some limitations especially on the mobility, data rate, transmission direction, and so on. In order to overvome these limitations, there are various studies have been proposed in terms of 'Vortical Handoff' that offers seamless connectivity by switching active connection to the appropriate interface which installed in the mobile devices. In this paper, we propose the interface selection algorithm and network architecture to maximize the life time of entire system by minimizing the unnecessary energy consumption of another interfaces such as WLAN, WDMB that are taken in the user equipment. In addition, by using the results of analyzing multiple types of traffic and managing user buffer as a metric for vertical handoff, we show that the energy efficiency of our scheme is $75\%$ and $34\%$ than typical WLAN for WDMB and WLAN preferred schemes, correspondingly.

  • This paper suggests the energy-efficient message delivery scheme and the software platform which exploits the multiple network interfaces of the mobile terminals and GPS in the current mobile devices. The mobile terminals determine the delivery method among 'direct', 'indirect', and 'WAN' based on the position information of itself and other terminals. 'Direct' method sends a message directly to the target terminal using local RAT. 'Indirect' method extends the service area by exploiting intermediate terminals as relay node. If the target terminal is too far to reach through 'direct' or 'indirect' method, the message is sent using wireless WAN technology. Our proposed scheme exploits the position information and, thus, power consumption is drastically reduced in determining handover time and direction. Network simulation results show that our proposed delivery scheme improves the message transfer efficiency and the handover detection latency. We implemented a message platform in a smart phone realizing the proposed delivery scheme. We compared our platform with other typical message platforms from energy efficiency aspect by observing the real power consumption and applying the mathematical modeling. The comparison results show that our platform requires significantly less power.

  • As virtual realty has become an issue of providing immersive services, in the area of virtual realty, it has been actively investigated to develop user interfaces for immersive interaction. In this paper, we propose a gesture recognition based immersive user interface by using an IR LED embedded helmet and data gloves in order to reflect the user's movements to the virtual reality environments effectively. The system recognizes the user's head movements by using the IR LED embedded helmet and IR signal transmitter, and the hand gestures with the data gathered from data gloves. In case of hand gestures recognition, it is difficult to recognize accurately with the general recognition model because there are various hand gestures since human hands consist of many articulations and users have different hand sizes and hand movements. In this paper, we applied the Mixture-of-Experts based gesture recognition for various hand gestures of multiple users accurately. The movement of the user's head is used to change the perspection in the virtual environment matching to the movement in the real world, and the gesture of the user's hand can be used as inputs in the virtual environment. A head mounted display (HMD) can be used with the proposed system to make the user absorbed in the virtual environment. In order to evaluate the usefulness of the proposed interface, we developed an interface for the virtual orchestra environment. The experiment verified that the user can use the system easily and intuituvely with being entertained.

  • Users in ubiquitous computing environment can easily access and use a multitude of devices and services anywhere and anytime. The key technology to realize this scenario is the method to intuitively provide proper user interfaces for each device and service. Previous attempts simply provided a designated user interface for each device and service or provided an abstract user interface to control common functions of different services. To select a target appliance, either user directly specified the target device or depended on sensors such as RFID tags and readers limiting the applicable scenarios. In this paper, we present UbiController which uniquely uses camera on the mobile device to recognize markers of appliances to acquire user interface for controlling task. UbiController aims to provide automatic discovery of multiple services in the smart home environment, support traditional GUI and novel camera-based recognition method as well as intuitive interaction methods for users. In this paper, we show experiments on the performance of UbiController's discovery and recognition methods and user feedback on interaction methods from a user study.

  • Mobile Gateway(MG) is a wireless LAN device to provide internet services to a passenger on vehicles like a bus. For using internet services, MG connects the Road Side Unit AP(RSU AP) based on WLAN .To provide a stable communication service on the moving vehicle, handoff changing MG's RSU must be handled fast and stably. However, it has a physical limits to remove a disconnection time of handoff process by reason of its technological features. In this paper, we suggest a MIMG(Multi-Interface Mobile Gateway) executing seamless handoff by using multiple wireless LAN interfaces for connecting RSU. In the detailed way to do stable handoff, we suggest the "Link Sharing Technique" to disconnection time of packet transmission for RSU to MIMG and the "Path Sharing Technique" to remove disconnection time of packet transmission for MIMG to RSU. we implemented the MIMG which performs the suggested handoff technique. We confirmed the superiority of our system by remove of the disconnection time(0 ms), and improved over 50 % of the communication bandwidth.

  • Although geophysical methods are useful and generally provide valuable information about the subsurface, it is important to recognize their limitations. A common limitation is the lack of sufficient contrast in physical properties between different layers. Thus, multiple methods are commonly used to best constrain the physical properties of different layers and interpret each section individually. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) and shallow seismic reflection (SSR) methods, used for shallow and very shallow subsurface imaging, respond to dielectric and velocity contrasts between layers, respectively. In this study, we merged GPR and SSR data from a test site within the Cheongui granitic mass, where the water table is ~3 m deep all year. We interpreted the data in combination with field observations and existing data from drill cores and well logs. GPR and SSR reflections from the tops of the sand layer, water table, and weathered and soft rocks are successfully mapped in a single section, and they correlate well with electrical resistivity data and SPS (suspension PS) well-logging profiles. In addition, subsurface interfaces in the integrated section correlate well with S-wave velocity structures from multi-channel analysis shear wave (MASW) data, a method that was recently developed to enhance lateral resolution on the basis of CMP (common midpoint) cross-correlation (CMPCC) analysis.

  • Many applications in cluster computing require QoS (Quality of Service) services. Since performance predictability is essential to provide QoS service, underlying systems must provide predictable performance guarantees. One way to ensure such guarantees from network subsystems is to generate global schedules from applications'network requests and to execute the local portion of the schedules at each network interface. To ensure accurate execution of the schedules, it is essential that a global time base must be maintained by local clocks at each network interface. The task of providing a single time base is called a synchronization problem and this paper addresses the problem for system area networks. To solve the synchronization problem, FM-QoS (1) proposed a simple synchronization mechanism called FBS(Feedback-Based Synchronization) which uses built-in How control signals. This paper extends the basic notion of FM-QoS to a theoretical framework and generalizes it: 1) to identify a set of built-in network flow control signals for synchrony and to formalize it as a synchronizing schedule, and 2) to analyze the synchronization precision of FBS in terms of flow control parameters. Based on generalization, two application classes are studied for a single switch network and a multiple switch network. For each class, a synchroniring schedule is proposed and its bounded skew is analyzed. Unlike FM-QoS, the synchronizing schedule is proven to minimize the bounded skew value for a single switch network. To understand the analysis results in practical networks, skew values are obtained with flow control parameters of Myrinet-1280/SAN. We observed that the maximum bounded skew of FBS is 9.2 Usec or less over all our experiments. Based on this result, we came to a conclusion that FBS was a feasible synchronization mechanism in system area networks.

  • We theoretically demonstrate that the interlayer exchange coupling (IEC) energy can be manipulated by means of an external bias voltage in a $F_1/NM/F_2/S$$(F_1:ferromagnetic,\;NM:nonmagnetic\;metallic,\;F_2:ferromagnetic,\;S:semiconductor\;layers)$ four-layer system. It is well known that the IEC energy between two ferromagnetic layers separated by nanometer thick nonmagnetic layer depends on the spin-dependence of reflectivity to the $F_1/NM/F_2/S$ four-layer system, where the reflectivities at the interface in $NM/F_2$ interface also depends on $F_2/S$ interface due to the multiple reflection of an electron-like optics. Finally, the IEC energy depends on the spin-dependent electron reflectivity not only at the interfaces of $F_1/NM/F_2$, but also at the interface of $F_2/S$. Naturally the Schottky barrier is formed at the interface between metallic ferromagnetic layer and semiconductor, the Schottky barrier height and thickness can be tailored by an external bias voltage, which causes the change of the spin-dependent reflectivity at $F_2/S$ interface. We show that the IEC energy between two ferromagnetic layers can be controlled by an external bias voltage due ti the electron-optics nature using a simple free-electron-like one-dimensional model.
