Over the last several decades, the topic of the source selection and evaluation has gained a great attention in the information systems community as an effective tool to acquire information systems in an organization. The source selection and evaluation process is a multiple-criteria decision-making problem associated with several evaluation issues. In this case study, evaluation issues include management, technologies, logistics, and cost. This case study was conducted to compare a new source selection and evaluation process by using the analytic hierarchy process with the traditional approach. This study provides useful insight about how to apply the analytic hierarchy process technique to the traditional approach.

In clinical trials, it is important to have well designed case report forms (CRF) in order to obtain good quality of data. If CRF design at the first stage of your study goes wrong, after all efforts have been made, you may find practical difficulties in data analysis at the final stage of your study because of incomplete or wrong information. In this paper, the following rules fundamental to CRF design are introduced: rules in general, rules of format or style, categorized responses, forms with multiple records per subject, and international studies. Investigators are well aware of research goals, however sometimes they do not know how to express it on CRF. If they understand the rules fundamental to CRF design, time for CRF development will be saved and CRF completeness will be enhanced.

Consider a life testing experiment in which multiple two-component shared parallel systems are put on test, and the test is terminated at a specified number of system failures. The bivariate data obtained from such a system-level life testing can be classified into three classes: 1) the case of failed two components with known failure times, 2) the case of censored two components, and 3) the case of one censored component and the other failed component of which the failure time might be known or unknown. Under this censoring scheme and the assumption of Freund's bivariate exponential life distribution, the maximum likelihood estimators are obtained. Results of comparative studies based on Monte Carlo simulation are presented.

This paper presents a simultaneous optimization approach of case-based reasoning (CBR) using a genetic algorithm(GA) for the prediction of stock price index. Prior research suggested many hybrid models of CBR and the GA for selecting a relevant feature subset or optimizing feature weights. Most studies, however, used the GA for improving only a part of architectural factors for the CBR system. However, the performance of CBR may be enhanced when these factors are simultaneously considered. In this study, the GA simultaneously optimizes multiple factors of the CBR system. Experimental results show that a GA approach to simultaneous optimization of CBR outperforms other conventional approaches for the prediction of stock price index.

Warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) are generally treated with cryotherapy, CO₂ laser ablation, interferon injections, and bleomycin injections. However, it is sometimes difficult to treat children because the treatment can be painful. In addition, recurrence may occur after treatment. In this study, warts completely disappeared following the administration of herbal medicine in two children, with warts in multiple parts of the hands and around the nails. Two pediatric patients visited the hospital for treatment of warts around their fingers and nails. Both patients received Taeeumjowi-tang (TJT) as a decoction for 60 days. TJT was performed twice per day for the 11-year-old patient and once per day for the 7-year-old patient. Patient progress was observed monthly, and the visual condition of the warts was photographed during the visits. After approximately two months of treatment, the warts disappeared from the fingers and nails of both patients. This case study suggests that the oral administration of TJT may be effective for pediatric patients with warts. Further studies are required to determine the efficacy and safety of these therapies.

In stenosis of a segmental branch or among multiple renal arteries, Doppler sampling of intrarenal arteries in the upper, mid and lower poles demonstrates strikingly different waveform patterns that might otherwise be overlooked. We report a case of segmental branch renal artery stenosis in which a pulsus parvus et tardus waveform was observed in a segmental branch of a renal artery. In this case, systematic analysis of Doppler waveforms of intrarenal arteries at more than three different locations facilitated a rapid and confident diagnosis of segmental branch renal artery stenosis.

Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is a noninflammatory arterial diseases that affects predominantly women. Multiple studies have demonstrated an increased prevalence of FMD in patients who experience carotid or vertebral artery dissection (VAD). This case report presents a 57-year-old female who presented with a headache and was diagnosed with partially thrombosed giant aneurysm of vertebral artery. This aneurysm was successfully treated with flow-diverter and coil, but new onset rupture of vertebral artery was detected two weeks later, leading to internal trapping. This case report underscores the need for awareness and understanding of treatment of dissection and aneurysm in patient who is suspected FMD.

Gastritis is a common but a serious disease with a potential risk of developing carcinoma. Helicobacter pylori infection is reported as the most common cause of gastritis, but other genetic and genomic factors exist, especially single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Association studies between SNPs and gastritis disease are important, but results on epistatic interactions from multiple SNPs are rarely found in previous genome-wide association (GWA) studies. In this study, we performed computational GWA case-control studies for gastritis in Korea Associated Resource (KARE) data. By transforming the resulting SNP epistasis network into a gene-gene epistasis network, we also identified potential gene-gene interaction factors that affect the susceptibility to gastritis.

59세 여자환자에서 매우 드문 기관의 소세포암을 치험하였기에 보고한다. 진단은 병리조직학적 소견 및 면역조직화학적 검사로 확진하였고, 외과적 절제후 보조적 항암요법을 한 뒤 호전이 있었으나 술후 6개월째 다발성 전이를 보이면서 사망하였다.

As VLSI technology advances rapidly, the operating frequency of digital systems becomes very fast. In such a high-speed system, there are many factors that threaten signal integrity. The noise sources in digital system include the noises in power supply, ground bounce and packaging media and distortions on single and multiple transmission lines. This paper will present a technology survey useful in the design of Gigabit interconnection systems. Some case studies have been constructed which show the lossy transmission line effect of skin effect. dielectric loss, with backplane connectors using the theoretical and practical conditions.
