Identification of multiple sources in a plate structure using pre-filtering process for reduction of interference wave

  • This paper presents novel research into the source localization of multiple impacts. Source localization technology for single impact loads in a plate structure has been used for health monitoring. Most of research on source localization has been focused only on the localization of single impacts. Overlapping of dispersive waves induced by multiple impacts and reflection of those waves from the edge of the plate make it difficult to localize the sources of multiple impacts using traditional source localization technology. The method solving the overlapping problem and the reflection problem is presented in the paper. The suggested method is based on pre-signal processing technology using band pass filter and optimal filter. Results from numerical simulation and from experimentation are presented, and these verify the capability of the proposed method.

EVOLUTION OF LUMINOUS INFRARED GALAXIES REVEALED BY NEAR-INFRARED MULTI-BAND IMAGING OF THEIR HOSTS

  • We present the result of our near infrared J- (${\lambda}=1.25{\mu}m$), H- (${\lambda}=1.63{\mu}m$), and $K_s$-band (${\lambda}=2.14{\mu}m$) imaging of ultraluminous ($L_{IR}$ > $10^{12}L_{\odot}$) and luminous ($L_{IR}=10^{11-12}L_{\odot}$) infrared galaxies (ULIRGs and LIRGs), to investigate their relationship through properties of their host galaxies. We find that (1) for single-nucleus ULIRGs and LIRGs, their spheroidal host galaxies have similar properties, but ULIRGs display a substantially higher level of nuclear activity than LIRGs, suggesting that their infrared luminosity difference comes primarily from the different level of current nuclear activity. We infer that LIRGs and ULIRGs have similar progenitor galaxies, follow similar evolutionary processes, and may evolve into optically-selected QSOs. (2) Largely-separated multiple-nuclei ULIRGs have significantly brighter host galaxies than single-nucleus ULIRGs and LIRGs in $K_s$-band, indicating that multiple-nuclei ULIRGs have a bias towards mergers of intrinsically large progenitor galaxies, in order to produce high infrared luminosity ($L_{IR}$ > $10^{12}L_{\odot}$) even at the early merging stage. (3) We derive dust extinction of host galaxies of ULIRGs and LIRGs to be $A_V$ ~ 14 mag in the optical or equivalently $A_K$ ~ 0.8 mag in the near-infrared $K_s$-band, based on the comparison of host galaxy's luminosities in the J-, H-, and $K_s$-bands.

  • We investigated the quantum well intermixing (QWI) of a compressively strained InGaAs/InGaAsP multiple quantum well (MQW) by using impurity free vacancy diffusion technique. The samples with InGaAs/$SiO_2$ capping layer showed a higher degree of intermixing compared to that of InP/$SiO_2$ capping layer after rapid thermal annealing (RTA). Band-gap shift difference as large as 123 meV (195 nm) was observed between samples capped with InGaAs/$SiO_2$ and with InP/$SiO_2$ layer at RTA temperature of $700^{\circ}C$. Using the InGaAs/$SiO_2$ cap layer, the band-gap wavelength of MQW was changed by the intermixing from 1.55 $\mu\textrm{m}$ band to 1.3 $\mu\textrm{m}$ band with a wavelength shift of a 237 nm. The transform from MQW structure to homogenous alloy was observed above the RTA temperature of $700^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper presents the impacts of Ultra Wide-Band(UWB) system applied in Indoor and Handhold communications using frequency band from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz on Wireless Broad-band(WiBro) system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) using frequency of 2.3 GHz. The Minimum Coupling Loss(MCL) method for the case of single interference and Monte Carlo(MC) simulation for multiple interference considering practical scenario were used to evaluate the interference effects of UWB system on WiBro system. As a result, the minimum separation distance between single interferer and the victim receiver required 34.4 m and above to guarantee the co-existence. Also, the UWB transmitting PSD of around - 81 dBm / MHz below should be required to meet the minimum throughput loss of WiBro mobile station in case of multiple UWB interference.

  • In this letter, a compact multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) antenna design for a 2.4 GHz wireless local area network(WLAN) band is proposed for use in smart glasses. To miniaturize the MIMO antenna system, a ground plane is employed within the antenna and a T-shaped ground is proposed. To achieve wideband isolation, dual resonance is formed by the ground mode. One resonance is created by the T-shaped ground and the second resonance is created by adding a slot and a capacitor between the two feed lines. The measurements show that the reflection coefficient characteristic was less than -5.1 dB, whereas the isolation obtained was less than -20 dB. The diversity performance was evaluated using the measured two-dimensional radiation patterns, and the envelope correlation coefficient(ECC) values achieved in the target band(2.4~2.5 GHz) were less than 0.1.

  • In this paper, a novel particle swarm optimization method based on IE3D is used to design a mobile communication Microstrip Patch Antenna. The aim of the thesis is to Design and fabricate an inset fed rectangular Microstrip Antenna and study the effect of antenna dimensions Length (L), Width (W) and substrate parameters relative Dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}r$), substrate thickness on Radiation parameters of Band width. When the antenna was designed, a dual-band, dual-polarized antenna was used to secure the bandwidth and improve performance, and a coaxial probe feeding method so that the phased array of antenna is easy.

  • In this paper, we have designed microstrip antenna of 800[MHz] band. It will be able to integrate TRS(Trunked Radio System), GSM(Global System for Mobile telecommunication) band including the CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) band. we designed repeater and a base station antenna which is possible at the ship and marine of safety. It is improves a narrow bandwidth problem of microstrip antenna. It had L-shaped feeding structure at a rectangular patch and added the parallel L-slot that used a duplex resonance effect. Also for the improvement of profit the stack with the perpendicular. Designed frequency bandwith(VSWR 2:1) of the antenna showed good characteristic of 789${\sim}$1046[MHz] to 292[MHz](36%). Also the E-plan and H-plan all profit 6.4[dBi] above, the 3[dB] beam width showed the characteristic over the E-plan $44.7^{\circ} and H-plan $61.8^{\circ} to be improved.

  • Analysis and design procedures for both symmetrical and non-symmetrical open-circuited interdigital multiple coupled microstrip line structures for applications as wide-band DC blocks/filters have been presented. The design equations, as is the case of other microstrip structures, are based on a simplified TEM model. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretically predicted ones.

  • New digital predistortion technique is proposed for power amplifier linearization in multi-band transmission systems. We consider a system where muli-band signals are combined and amplified by a single power amplifier (PA). In this system, the PA output is distorted by the nonlinear cross-products between different band signals as well as their own nonlinear self-products. To compensate these nonlinear effects, we propose a multiple PD structure. Each PD removes the nonlinear cross-products and self-products to mitigate the spectral regrowth for the corresponding band. Since the PD parameters for different bands are linked together, it is difficult to find the PD parameters separately. Thus, we propose an iterative method for finding the PD parameters jointly. For demonstration of the proposed method, multi-band characteristics of PA are extracted from a commercial power amplifier. Computer simulation was executed based on the PA parameters. The simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively linearize the PA and remove spectral regrowth at each signal band.

Image Inpainting by Band Matching, Seamless Cloning and Area Sub-Division (밴드 매칭, 경계제거, 영역분할을 이용한 영상 인페인팅)

  • We propose a novel image inpainting method composed of two parts: band matching and seamless cloning. In band matching, a band enclosing the boundary of a missing region is compared to those from the other parts of the image. The inner area of the minimum difference band is then copied to the missing region. Even though this band matching results in successful inpainting in many practical applications, brightness discontinuity (a seam) may appear between the filled missing region and its neighborhood. We apply seamless cloning to remove such discontinuity between the two regions. However, since this basic method using one patch may not deal with cases where there are abrupt changes of color or brightness along the boundary, we furthermore devise one more step: target sub-division. The target area is subdivided into small sub-areas, and the band matching and seamless cloning are applied to each of them. The multiple results from the sub-division are then ordered according to inpainting quality, which is measured based on the edge map or discontinuity map along the boundary band.
