Multimedia Resource Management System for the Realtime Data Broadcasting using T-DMB (지상파 DMB에서 실시간 데이타방송을 위한 멀티미디어 자원관리 시스템)

  • Today, the data broadcasting service provides various multimedia contents to users. This paper suggests a resource management system which controls multimedia resources in order to reduce the receiving time of the contents during the realtime data broadcasting of multimedia traffic information. To verify the efficiency of the resource management system, this paper has introduced the realtime traffic information integrating and authoring systems through MOT (Multimedia Object Transfer) protocol-based BWS (Broadcast Web Site) service in which multimedia data are transmitted by T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) and implemented a resource management system which controls the creation of multimedia resources in connection with the said systems. As the receiving time of the contents created with resources from the resource management system has decreased by 1/13, they are suitable for realtime data broadcasting.

  • The web-based multimedia development tool was implemented to create and edit multimedia contents under the graphic user interface environment with icons. The development process enables the developers to verify the contents being developed by checking for errors, exchanging feedbacks and utilizing the pre-execution feature. By applying the tree structure to the internal data format, the tool uses inherent display features among media objects with time and spatial relations to efficiently process the synchronism of media objects that participate in the presentation and asynchronism according to user interaction.

  • In the N-Screen environment, HTML5 standard-based content development is inevitable. However, it is still passive the development of HTML5 manipulation type contents due to high development cost and insufficient infrastructure. Therefor we propose an efficient contents development model by convergence multimedia contents (such as video and audio) with HTML5 documents that can implement dynamic manipulation for user interaction. The proposed model is designed to divide the multimedia and iframe areas in the HTML5 layout page included the player for integrated contents control.   • 본 논문에서는 디지털 멀티미디어 컨텐츠의 효과적인 제작을 위해 멀티미디어 컨텐츠가 다양한 형태의 타입으로 표현될 수 있도록 하는 MPEG-4 컨텐츠 타입 변환기의 설계 및 구현을 제시한다. MPEG-4 컨텐츠 타입 변환기는 멀티미디어 저작 도구인 멀티미디어 Authoring Tool을 위한 핵심 보조 기술이다. MPEG-4 컨텐츠 타입 변환기는 효과적 타입 변환을 위해 MPEG-4, TRIF 및 SMIL을 포함하는 중간포맷을 정의하여 이용한다. 즉, MPEG-4, TRIF 및 SMIL로 정의된 각각의 트리 형태의 데이터와 중간자적인 트리 형태의 중간 포맷 간에 양방향 변환을 가능하게 하여 손쉽게 다양한 타입으로의 변환을 가능하게 한다. 그리고, 각 트리 형태의 멀티미디어 데이터는 그에 해당되는 스트림의 형태로 트레이스 되어 출력되며, 실행 가능한 데이터를 생성하기 위해 Encode와 Mux 또는 파싱을 실행한다.

Uncertain Region Based User-Assisted Segmentation Technique for Object-Based Video Editing System (객체기반 비디오 편집 시스템을 위한 불확실 영역기반 사용자 지원 비디오 객체 분할 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a semi-automatic segmentation method which can be used to generate video object plane (VOP) for object based coding scheme and multimedia authoring environment. Semi-automatic segmentation can be considered as a user-assisted segmentation technique. A user can initially mark objects of interest around the object boundaries and then the selected objects are continuously separated from the un selected areas through time evolution in the image sequences. The proposed segmentation method consists of two processing steps: partially manual intra-frame segmentation and fully automatic inter-frame segmentation. The intra-frame segmentation incorporates user-assistance to define the meaningful complete visual object of interest to be segmentation and decides precise object boundary. The inter-frame segmentation involves boundary and region tracking to obtain temporal coherence of moving object based on the object boundary information of previous frame. The proposed method shows stable and efficient results that could be suitable for many digital video applications such as multimedia contents authoring, content based coding and indexing. Based on this result, we have developed objects based video editing system with several convenient editing functions.

  • There are several data broadcasting standards that the developers should apply when develops any interactive digital TV contents. In Korea, we adopts ACAP(Advanced Common Application Platform) as terrestrial data broadcasting standard, MHP(Multimedia Home Platform) fur satellite data broadcasting and OCAP(OpenCable Application Platform) for cable data broadcasting. Therefore, content providers must develop different applications which suited for different standards - even if the application is exactly same. This is waste of time and energy. This paper suggests a solution to solve this problem among different broadcasting platforms - MHP, OCAP and ACAP. We compared these specifications, and found out what APIs are typically used far applications. Then we designed XML file structures that can be used to define contents of applications. We also implemented an authoring tool which automatically generates XML files by interaction with users. This paper also ascertains Xlet applications, produced by the authoring tool, works properly on each different data broadcasting standard - MHP, OCAP and ACAP.

  • This paper presents methods to design an integrated system for supporting both multimedia contents creations and its presentation in a windows system. Especially, it describes methods for designing an integrated editor that can be used to crate and edit various media data including continuous media such as audio and video. And it also proposes a system model for systematically integrating multimedia creating tool with multimedia presentation system where the heeling and scenario-based presentation methods are included in the propose system for supporting effective multimedia presentation through a network Finally, we describe a threads processing technique based on event monitoring to satisfy effectively needs for presentation control, synchronization control, and user's input control during a multimedia presentation.

  • In this paper, in order to help one to write contents for education in such a way to increase effectiveness, we implement SMIL editor, which helps anyone to author contents for education and multimedia text in an easy way based on multimeda language SMIL. Thanks to its interface which utilizes WYSIWYGT, this editor allows teachers or other users who do not know SMIL to write contents for education and multimedia text in an easy way and to check in a real time how a partially completed document work and to revise when it is not satisfactory. It also allows one to write contents with explanations to help learning because usable multimedia objects can be inserted. This editor helps the user to reduce his inconvenience that he has in memorizing SMIL tags and to reduce his time and offers in writing the documents.

  • Computers can intensify the students' motivation and understanding about the solution to the problems in class, therefore, computers can be the most appropriate educational tools for the study of problem solving and have been also recognized as a representable study method in the information age, which can pass on various educational experience to the right place at the right time. Mutimedia producing tool helps us develop and maintain the educational courseware by way of using general technology of multimedia system. In this thesis, it presents the efficient development process of educational software by using mutimedia producing tool, its educational advantages and problems, and its future progress direction as well.

Efficient Browsing Method based on Metadata of Video Contents (동영상 컨텐츠의 메타데이타에 기반한 효율적인 브라우징 기법)

  • The advancement of information technology along with the proliferation of communication and multimedia has increased the demand of digital contents. Video data of digital contents such as VOD, NOD, Digital Library, IPTV, and UCC are getting more permeated in various application fields. Video data have sequential characteristic besides providing the spatial and temporal information in its 3D format, making searching or browsing ineffective due to long turnaround time. In this paper, we suggest ATVC(Authoring Tool for Video Contents) for solving this issue. ATVC is a video editing tool that detects key frames using visual rhythm and insert metadata such as keywords into key frames via XML tagging. Visual rhythm is applied to map 3D spatial and temporal information to 2D information. Its processing speed is fast because it can get pixel information without IDCT, and it can classify edit-effects such as cut, wipe, and dissolve. Since XML data save key frame information via XML tag and keyword information, it can furnish efficient browsing.
