In today's society, the paradigm is converted to information where both this and knowledge become the source of value added. In order to answer societies' needs school education is subject to a large change, that is 'from supplier-centered learners to demand-centered learners'. This study is the design and implementation of multimedia CAI program for learning about electricity in the meddle school the mechanics curriculum with a focus in generating electricity. Based on multimedia, software, educational utilization of the multimedia, CAI, learning theory and form, both technology and multimedia elements related to curriculum are analyzed. This title is composed of object, contents, evaluation and related sites every chapter for students to study. Also, it is designed for students to take interest and participate in the learning process actively by combining lots of media such as characters, sound, images and animation. Specially it is composed in a way of repetition according to the student's level.

컴퓨터를 이용한 교육이 우리 나라에 도입된 것은 1989년 한국교육개발원에서 14편(초등학교의 경우)의 CAI 프로그램을 개발·보급하면서부터이다. 그 후 컴퓨터 기술의 급격한 발달로 컴퓨터 교육 환경에 많은 변화가 이루어졌다. 모노모니터에 도스를 사용하던 XT급 PC에서 이제는 윈도95를 운영체제로 한 멀티미디어 PC가 활용되고 있다. 그러나 초기에 개발·보급된 CAI 프로그램들은 그 당시의 컴퓨터 사양에 맞추어져 있어서 현재의 멀티미디어 컴퓨터에서는 동작하지 않는 것들이 대분분이다. 많은 비용과 노력을 투입하여 개발된 우수한 CAI 프로그램들이 컴퓨터 교육환경의 변화로 인하여 폐기되거나 사장될 형편에 놓여 있다. 이러한 점에 착안하여 본 연구에서는 모노용으로 개발된 CAI 프로그램을 현재 환경에서 사용할 수 있도록 하는 방안을 찾아보았다. 본 연구를 통하여 Basic, C 언어로 개발된 CAI 프로그램은 소스코드의 수정으로 소프트웨어 재사용의 가능성을 확인하였으며, 저작도구 한올 2.0으로 개발된 CAI 프로그램은 별도의 코드 수정 없이도 윈도 95의 도스 창에서 실행이 가능한 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 소프트웨어의 재사용을 통한 생산성 향상이라는 측면과 내용이 우수한 CAI 프로그램을 컴퓨터 교육환경의 변화에 대응하여 계속 활용할 수 있게 하였다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

This is an quasi experimental study using nonequivalent pre-test post-test control design for the development of the CAI program and an analysis of its effects, for nursing college students to learn emergency patient triage. This program was developed from November, 2000 to middle of September, 2001 with the aid of curriculum design experts. The subjects of this study were 86 randomly sampled freshmen students of C nursing college in Ulsan. They were divided into 45 for the test group and 41 for the control group. The CAI program for the learning of the emergency patient triage has been developed on the basis of Merrill's Component display theory and Keller's ARCS theory and through the curriculum design process of Hannafin ＆ Peck. It has also been done with the use of Tool book 8.0, the multimedia righting tool. The experiment to verify the effect of the CAI program has been carried on from September, 20 to October, 8 2001. There were six hypotheses to accomplish the purpose of the study, and the analysis of the data was done with the use of SPSS/win program. As a result of this study, the author concluded that this CAI program is an effective mediation method to promote the learning accomplishment and learning motive for nursing college students. Therefore in the field of emergency nursing education, it would be possible to use this program as means for widening the possibility of self-learning and to promote individual learning of nursing college students.

Multimedia CAI programs have been produced which encourage self-study and positive learning activities. With instant feedback from the CAI program, students' errors can be corrected easily and the composition ability can be advanced have been done. To increase students' computer capability and composition abilities the following studies. 1. Make an estimate about the factors affecting composition themes and prepare a course based on individual students' needs. 2. Design and implement CAI programs for the enhancement of composition ability. 3. Find an effective teaching-learning model for the generalization of the CAI title and then verify the results.

For Korean education to be able to handle increasing knowledge and new values in the 21st century, it needs to change. Korean education needs various teaching methods. At the present, CAI, multimedia, interact video system and computer communication are being used. Compared to the traditional teaching methods, computer-assisted instructions were reported to be more effective. The students’demands for these kind of lessons are adamant and increasing. In this study, an attempt was made to develop “child-development and parent education”using CAI program. This chapter is in high demand for high school students. This study model was developed help the students’understanding and make their learning easier. A lesson plan was proposed using CAI program which was developed by authors with assistance of professional computer programmers. The CAI program includes following curriculum contents：1. Child development, 2. the meaning of parenthood, 3. pregnancy, 4. delivery, 5. abortion. The CAI program was designed to allow students to participated activity in several current issue related with parenthood and aborting problems. This study ultimately aimed to show students moving pictures, animation, vivid photos, and music to motivate them. Another goal was to help the Home Economics teachers give lessons using CAI and to show an example of the teaching model.

The focus of this development program is to input multimedia materials into learning according to the trend of recent social changes and to maximize the learning effect for improving problem-solving by offering familiar teaching materials. The expecting effects of this study are as follows: 1. This program helps students acquire mathematical concepts and principles about circular equation through concrete examples using a variety of media - text, voice, sound, and animation and so on - , makes it possible individual learning which was difficult for students to expect at the existing multitude class as progressing learning each unit on the screen and the perfect learning by offering FEED BACK 2. This program varied the difficulty of learning contents to learn according to learning abilities of learners by using animation and making the most of merits of computer and was able to improve learning effect by studying in a mutual way with managing learning procedure nonsuccessively. 3. Class using CAI program about developed circular equation unit has a positive effect on improving problem-solving by becoming from teacher centered class to student centered one. 4. This program makes students understand the contents of auxiliary learning in multimedia computer more efficiently, and cultivate abilities to adopt in accordance with changes in the future society by forming familiar computer mind.

Background： The purpose of this study was to develop a structured and individualized smoking prevention program for adolescents by utilizing a multimedia computer-assisted instruction model and to empirically assess its effect. Method： For the purpose of this study, a guide book of smoking prevention program for middle and high school students was developed as the first step. The contents of this book were summarized and developed into an actual multimedia CAI smoking prevention program according to the Gane ＆ Briggs instructional design and Keller's ARCS motivation design models as the second step. At the final step, the short-tenn effects of this program were examined by an experiment. This experiment were made for middle school and high school students and the quasi experimental design was the pretest - intervention - posttest. The measured data was attitude, belief, and knowledge about smoking, interest in the program, and learning motivation. Result： The results of this study were as follows： First, the guide book of a smoking prevention program was developed and the existing literature on adolescent smoking was analyzed to develop the content of the guide book. Then the curriculum was divided into three main domains on tobacco and smoking history, smoking and health, adolescent smoking and each main domain was divided into sub-domains. Second, the contents of the guide book were translated into a multimedia CAI program of smoking prevention througn Powerpoint software according to the instructional design theory. The characteristics of this program were interactive, learner controllable, and structured The program contents consisted of entrance(5.6％), history of tobacco(30％), smoking and health(38.9％), adolescent smoking(22.2％), video(4.7％), and exit(1.6％). Multimedia materials consisted of text(121), sound and music, image(still 84, dynamic 32), and videogram(6). The program took about 40 minutes to complete. Third, the results on analysis of the program effects were as follows： 1) There was significant knowledge increase between the pre-test and post-test with total mean difference 3.44, and the highest increase was in the 1st grade students of high school(p＜0.001). 2) There was significant decrease in general belief on smoking between the pre-test and post-test with total mean difference 0.28. In subgroup analysis, the difference was significantly higher in the 1st grade of high school (p<0.001), low income class (p<0.001), and daily smokers (p<0.01). 3) There was no significant difference in attitudes on his personal smoking between the pre-test and post-test. 4) The interest in the program seemed to lower as students got older. The score of motivation toward this prevention program was the highest in the middle school 3rd grade. Among sub-domains of motivation, the confidence score was the highest. Conclusion： To be most effective, the smoking prevention program for adolescents should utilize the most up-to-date and accurate information on smoking, and then instructional material should be developed so that the learners can approach the program with enjoyment. Through this study, a guide book with the most up-to-date information was developed and the multimedia CAI smoking prevention program was also developed based on the guide book. The program showed positive effect on the students' knowledge and belief in smoking.

Many CAI materials have been developed for middle school education. Among subjects in middle school education curricula, various multimedia materials are used in science subjects. Especially, those materials are necessary to teach basic knowledge of the environment, structure and components of animal. Thus, we implemented a multimedia title for a chapter of heart and blood circulation from first year science subject in middle school curricula. Most previous researches mainly focussed on the development of CAI programs, but did not suggest the analysis result of impact using those CAI programs. In this paper, we presented the analysis method of impact and the result, but also suggested a way to improve effectiveness of teaching in a clams.

In this paper, we have designed and implemented Web-based realtime distant education system by using multimedia CAI and Java technology. The proposed system can provide not only Web-based courseware but also text-based text lecture and distant OHP in real time. The Courseware provides computer basic education and has been developed by using Authorware. The Client/server program of Text lecture and distant OHP for a realtime distant education has been developed by using Java applet and application. Java servlet has been used to construct CGI programs.

The CAI has not been developed with the non-structural form of interactive courseware under classroom network. This study suggests the direction of enhancement for students' achievement through interaction between learner and learner. and teacher and learner applied the effective multi-presentation and 4he introduction of the concept of chatting client/server to class with the use of multimedia package. For the continuous development of courseware and the effectiveness of keeping and repairing materials. this study consists of development of the teaching materials by Powerpoint which is one of the multimedia package presentation tools, and teaching method through discussion by chatting client/server under the classroom network. This new CAI showed the possibility of the open education through discussion and the enhancement of learners' effective achievement in the result of the data got from the classrooms of elementary, middle and high schools.
