  • IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) is an open standardized architecture for delivering multimedia service over IP network in a route-agnostic manner. With the increasing popularity of conversational class service, the delivery of a traffic flow with a certain bandwidth demand over a single network path is either not possible or not cost-effective. Multipath transmission is considered to be a promising solution to provide high-quality delivery service. This paper proposes a software defined service overlay network (SDSON) based multipath transmission framework for IMS, which is complementary to existing network architecture. The framework transforms original two-party session negotiation into three-party session negotiation that supports participants to negotiate multipath transmission capacity and path information by signaling message. Based on existing IETF standards, SIP and SDP are scalable to support these functions. Finally, the proposed framework is fully implemented on open source platform and examined by experiments. Experimental results show that multipath-enabled IMS is an effective way to improve the delivery performance of conversational class service.

  • This paper presents a VLSI design for lifting-based discrete wavelet transform (DWT) 9/7 filter using multiplierless multiple constant multiplication (MCM) architecture. This proposed design is based on the lifting scheme using pattern search for folded architecture. Shift-add operation is adopted to optimize the multiplication process. The conventional serial operations of the lifting data flow can be optimized into parallel ones by employing paralleling and pipelining techniques. This optimized design has simple hardware architecture and requires less computation without performance degradation. Furthermore, hardware utilization reaches 100%, and the number of registers required is significantly reduced. To compare our work with previous methods, we implemented the architecture using Verilog HDL. We also executed simulation based on the logic synthesis using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS standard cells. The proposed architecture shows hardware reduction of up to 60.1% and 44.1% respectively at 200 MHz clock compared to previous works. This implementation results indicate that the proposed design performs efficiently in hardware cost, area, and power consumption.

  • This study intends to develop an evacuation simulation system based on BIM in a real-time manner. The proposed system, an add-on module for Revit Architecture and one of the most popular BIM authoring tools, supports the architectural design as well as real-time evacuation simulation of the design alternatives. This paper introduces the developed system, named SafeBIM, and the design process on which it is based. To evaluate the possibilities of the proposed system in the educational field of architectural design, this study included a feasibility test with college students in an architectural design studio.

  • Next generation telematics technology, offering new and diverse multimedia service by connecting car and wireless access network, has been presented with promising industry. Telematics technology was simply to monitor and control the in-vehicle devices and to navigate the road in the early days but nowadays, telematics technology has provided the mobile internet access service, LBS service, agent rescue service and multimedia service to us using connection of wireless access network. In this paper, telematics mobile platform architecture is proposed for service promotion and efficiency.

  • This paper proposes the application of sensor technology to assemble ship blocks efficiently. A sensor-based monitoring system is designed and implemented to improve shipbuilding productivity by reducing the labor cost for the adjustment of adequate positioning between ship blocks during pre-erection or erection stage. For the real-time remote monitoring of relative distances between two ship blocks, sensor nodes are applied to measure the distances between corresponding target points on the blocks. Highly precise positioning data can be transferred to a monitoring server via wireless network, and analyzed to support the decision making which needs to determine the next construction process; further adjustment or seam welding between the ship blocks. The developed system is expected to put to practical use, and increase the productivity during ship blocks assembly.

  • In this letter, we present a design of a single chip video decoder called advanced mobile video ASIC (A-MoVa) for mobile multimedia applications. This chip uses a mixed hardware/software architecture to improve both its performance and its flexibility. We designed the chip using a partition between the hardware and software blocks, and developed the architecture of an H.264 decoder based on the system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform. This chip contains 290,000 logic gates, 670,000 memory gates, and its size is $7.5\;mm{\times}7.5\;mm$ (using 0.25 micron 4-layers metal CMOS technology).

  • Operation time of a function or procedure is a thing that always needs to be optimized. Parallelizing the operation is the general method to reduce the operation time of the function. One of the most powerful parallelizing methods is using GPU. In image processing field, one of the most commonly used operations is morphology operation. Three types of morphology operations kernel, na$\ddot{i}$ve, global and shared, are presented in this paper. All kernels are made using CUDA and work parallel on GPU. Four morphology operations (erosion, dilation, opening, and closing) using square structuring element are tested on MRI images with different size to measure the speedup of the GPU implementation over CPU implementation. The results show that the speedup of dilation is similar for all kernels. However, on erosion, opening, and closing, shared kernel works faster than other kernels.

  • The growth of Internet technologies and the widespread use of mobile devices have been paving the way for the increasing use of conferencing services. Two types of systems have been designed to provide conferencing services: 1) a conferencing system using session control over a peer-to-peer (P2P) network and 2) an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) conferencing system. The IMS conferencing system was developed to adapt to a server-based centralized system, whereas the benefits of the P2P operational model in providing such conference services are widely acknowledged. However, each system provides conferencing services only to its own users. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an interworking model to support multimedia conferencing service between the P2P environment and IMS networks. We also introduce protocol architecture and some service scenarios. To verify this system model and the design architecture, we perform an actual implementation and show experienced test results.

  • Currently, lots of research s going on in the field of the load distribution within HTTP. RR-DNS and SWEB are the most representative load distribution research. But, there are still many problems: unbalancing of load, load increase of web server and cost increase. Also, clients that require lots of data like multimedia happens to increase network load. To solve these, research about client/agent/server architecture is going on. But, the clients must know the agent's address and there are complexity and migration problems for design of such as protocol. This paper proposes TBSMS that is capable of choosing the optimal server considering the service capacity of the server as well as the network load. This paper demonstrates that TBSMS uses the web to solve the problem that client must know the agent's address and uses SNMP to solve the complexity and migration problem.
