  • The characteristics of $Al_2O_3/Ag/Al_2O_3$ multilayer passivaton prepared by twin target sputtering (TTS) system for organic light emitting diodes. The $Al_2O_3/Ag/Al_2O_3$ multilayer thin film passivation on a PET substrate had a high transmittance of 86.44 % and low water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of $0.011\;g/m^2$-day due to the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of Ag interlayer and effective multilayer structure for preventing the intrusion of water vapor. Using synchrotron x-ray scattering and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) examinations, we investigated the growth behavior of Ag layer on the $Al_2O_3$ layer to explain the SPR effect of the Ag layer. This indicates that an $Al_2O_3/Ag/Al_2O_3$ multilayer passivation is a promising thin film passivation scheme for organic based flexible optoelectronics.

  • An artificially modulated magnetic Co/Pd multilayer is one of the promising candidates for high density magneto-optic (MO) recording media in the wavelength of a blue laser beam, due to large Kerr rotation angle. However, since the Co/Pd multilayer is a non-equilibrium state in terms of free energy and MO recording is a kind of thermal recording which is conducted around Curie temperature (Tc) of the recording media, the assessment of the thermal stability in the Co/Pd multilayer is crucially important both for basic research and applications. As the parameter of the thermal stability in this research, effective interdiffusion coefficients (Deff) perpendicular to the interface of the Co/Pd multilayers are measured in terms of Ar sputtering pressure and heat treatment temperature. From the results of the research, we find out that the magnetic exchange energy between Co and Pd sublayers strongly affects Deff of the Co/Pd multilayers. This discovery will provide the understanding of the magnetic exchange energy in the effective interdiffusion process of a magnetic multilayer structure and suggest the operating temperature range for MO recording in the Co/Pd multilayer for the basic research and applications, respectively.

  • In this paper, the electric characteristics in multilayer organic light emitting, diodes(OLEDs) are observed using a numerical device modeling method. The methode is applied to a general device structure, ITO/CuPC/${\alpha}-NPD$/ Alq3/LiF/Al, that has received broad attention in previous literature. The fitted current-voltage characteristics are quite consistent with the results which was experimentally determined in reference papers. This research approached results in a detailed understanding of the operating machanism of a multilayer OLEDs and applied to a set of real devices.

  • Multilayer transparent electrodes, having a much lower electrical resistance than the widely used transparent conducting oxide electrodes, were prepared by using radio frequency magnetron sputtering. The multilayer structure consisted of five layers, indium tin oxided(ITO)/zinc oxide(ZnO)/Ag/oxide(ZnO)/ITO. With about 50nm thick ITO films, the multilayer showed a high optical transmittance in the visible range of the spectrum and had color neutrality. The electrical and optical properties of ITO/ZnO/Ag/ZnO/ITO multilayer were changed mainly by Ag film properties, which were affected by the deposition process of the upper layer. Especially ZnO layer was improved to adhesion of Ag and ITO. A high quality transparent electrode, having a resistance as low as and a high optical transmittance of 91% at 550nm, was obtained. It could satisfy the requirement for the flexible OLED and LCD.

  • $BiFeO_3/Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$(BFO/PZT) multilayer thin films have been prepared on a Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(100) substrate by chemical solution deposition. BFO single layer, BFO/PZT bilayer and multilayer thin films were studied for comparison. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the crystal structure of all films was multi-orientated perovskite phase without amorphous and impurity phase. The leakage current density at 500 kV/cm was reduced by approximately four and five orders of magnitude by bilayer and multilayer structure films, compared with BFO single layer film. The low leakage current density leads to saturated P-E hysteresis loops of bilayer and multilayer films. In BFO/PZT multlayer film, saturated remanent polarization of $44.3{\mu}C/cm^2$ was obtained at room temperature at 1 kHz with the coercive field($2E_c$) of 681.4 kV/cm.

  • Recently, several studies on the development of superhydrophobic surfaces using various nano-sized carbon-based materials have been conducted. The superhydrophobic surfaces developed using carbon soot have advantages such as low processing cost and remarkable physical and chemical properties. However, their durability is low. To address this problem, in this study, a superhydrophobic surface with high durability and a multilayer structure was fabricated using ethanol vapor treatment. Candle soot was deposited on an aluminum substrate coated with paraffin wax, and a micro-nano multilayer structure with a size of several micrometers was fabricated via ethanol vapor treatment. The fabricated superhydrophobic surface was confirmed to have a contact angle of at least 156° and high durability. Finally, it was confirmed that ethanol vapor not only changed the nanostructure of carbon but also affected the durability of the structure.

  • Quantum-dot cellular automata(QCA) consists of nano-scale cells and demands very low power consumption so that it is one of the alternative technologies that can overcome the limits of scaling CMOS technologies. Various circuits on QCA have been researched until these days, a latch required for counter and state control has been proposed as a component of sequential logic circuits. A latch uses a feedback loop to maintain previous state. In QCA, a latch uses a square structure using 4 clocks for feedback loop. Previous latches have been proposed using many cells and clocks in coplanar. In this paper, in order to eliminate these defects, we propose a SR and D latch using multilayer structure on QCA. Proposed three dimensional loop structure is based on multilayer and consists of 3 layers. Each layer has 2 clock differences between layers in order to reduce interference. The proposed latches are analyzed and compared to previous designs.

  • In this paper, 2.4 GHz WLAN BPF(Band Pass Filter) using LTCC(Low temperature cofiring ceramic) multilayer technology was simulated and manufactured. A modified ${\lambda}/4$ Hair-pin resonator with shunt-to ground loaded capacitor is used to shorten resonator length and improve circuit Q factor. Proposed BPF has a combline structure. Electro-magnetic Coupling between coupled strip-line resonators is controlled to provide attenuation poles at finite frequencies. The overall size of the filter is $3.2{\times}1.6{\times}1.3mm^3$. The measured result shows good agreement with simulated data.
