Objectives Risk taking has been implicated in the development of various psychiatric disorders. Previous studies have indicated that risk taking behavior is associated with high levels of impulsiveness. Risk taking entail uncertain situation that outcome probability is unknown. This study tested impulsivity, intolerance of uncertainty and risk taking behavior. Methods A total of 73 participants completed a test battery comprised of the UPPS-P scale as a psychometric measurement of five dimensions of impulsivity, Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale, and Balloon Analog Risk Task (BART) as a behavioral measure of risk taking. The Pearson correlation analysis was used. Results The sensation seeking factor was positively correlated with BART measure (r = 0.27, p = 0.02). Specifically, the relationship between sensation seeking and BART was significant in females. Conclusions Among the five factors of UPPS-P, only the sensation seeking factor predicts risk taking propensity.

The purpose of this study is to determine the unidimensionality of Grasmick's operationalization of Gottfredson and Hirschi's criminality inducing the concept of low self-control. By applying confirmatory factor analysis procedures that incorporate advances in the application, the proposed six factor model and two alternative models were examined suggesting that Grasmick's low self-control scale actually contains 6 distinguishable factors, not a single factor. The factors identified to be consistent with the six-factor model were impulsivity, simple tasks, risk seeking, physical activities, self-centered, and temper.

본 연구는 청소년에게 영향을 미치는 중독요인과 요인들간의 상관관계를 알아보고 이를 기반으로 예방차원의 대처 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 첫째, 청소년의 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미치는 요인과 원인은 무엇이며 둘째, 청소년의 인터넷중독에 영향을 미치는 요인들이 상호 어떤 상관관계가 있는지 셋째, 청소년의 인터넷중독에 관한 예방차원의 환경적 대처방안 무엇인지에 대한 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 따라서 청소년 인터넷중독에 영향을 미치는 원인이 되는 요인을 알아보기 위하여 Young척도 등의 도구에 의한 척도 및 검사결과에 의하여 인터넷 사용시간 현실도피 충동성, 우울, 분노조절과는 정적인 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 인터넷의 사용시간, 현실도피적인 인터넷사용, 우울감, 분노조절, 가족의 응집성정도, 충동성 등의 요인이 청소년 인터넷 중독의 유의미한 요인이 되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 이러한 원인이 되고 있는 요인에 대하여 분석하고 이에 대한 환경적 대처방안을 제시하였다.

최근 청소년의 인터넷 중독 문제가 심각해짐에 따라, 인터넷을 시작하는 초기 단계부터 올바르게 인터넷을 사용할 수 있는 능력과 태도를 기르는 예방 교육이 매우 중요시 되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하여 인터넷 중독 예방 교육 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 선행 연구에서 공통적으로 언급한 11가지 영역의 문항으로 구성된 청소년용 인터넷 중독 검사 도구를 이용하여 청소년의 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. 그 결과 인터넷 사용 시간, 현실도피, 분노조절, 우울, 가족 응집성, 사회적 유능감, 충동성, 자기 효능감의 8가지 요인이 인터넷 중독에 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 인터넷 중독 예방 교육에 대한 방향을 제시하였다.
