  • This study analyzed the citation count of papers and authors in the field of human geography through the multidimensional scaling and social network analysis with the papers and their references published in Journal of Korean Geographical Society(Geography). The major findings of this study are as follows. Group formation of common approaches in intelligent network has not formed by cited literature in the field of human geography of a journal representing Korea. Then, each researcher should study consistently on a subject to form a school rather than diversify the field and subject of study. They also need to increase the citation count by accumulating research work with a high degree of completion. In addition, many universities with a lot of enrolled graduate students of master's and doctorate course have a responsibility to encourage the formation of school. Meanwhile, if the master's and doctoral dissertations are not official publications unlike journals, the citation of them should be avoided institutionally because it is the unique phenomena of Korea.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of physico-chemical environmental factors on the changes of bacterial population from two sites used for drinking water and eight sites polluted with various pollutant in Seoul city. In all the stations except for two sites used for drinking water, the concentrations of nitrate- nitrogen and ammonia were in excess of the criteria of groundwater quality by the result of analysis of 40 variations including physicochemical environmental factors, heavy metals, and bacterial populations. The numbers of total bacteria, heterotrophic bacteria and functional groups of bacteria were ranged from 5.1 to 41.4${\times}$10$\^$5/cells/ml and from 0.01 to 29.6${\times}$10$^4$cfu/ml, respectively. The activities of extracellular enzymes showed the ranges of 0.005∼11.3${\mu}$M/l/hr and its order to lipase, phophatase, ${\beta}$-glucosidase, cellulase, chitinase, amylase. The results of correspondence and multidimensional scaling analysis between bacterial populations and its physico-chemical environmental factors were explained the effects of physico-chemical environmental factors according to site characters and separated four group, which is accord with potential pollutants at wells.

  • OLAP(On-Line Analytical Processing) is a tool to satisfy the requirements of managing overflowing data analysis. OLAP can provide an interactive analytical processing environment to every end-user. Security policy is necessary to secure sensitive data of organization according to users direct access database. But earlier studies only handled the subject in its functional aspects such as MDX(Multidimensional Expressions) and XMLA(XML for Analysis). This research work is purported for solving such problems by designing and implementing an efficient data access control mechanism for the information security on OLAP. Experimental evaluation result is proposed and its efficiency and accuracy are verified through it.

  • This paper provides a rigorous theory for analysis of quantization effects and optimum filter bank design in quantized multidimensional subband filter banks. Even though subband filter design has been a hot topic for last decades, a few results have been reported on the subband filter with a quantizer. Each pdf-optimized quantizer is modeled by a nonlinear gain-plus-additive uncorrelated noise and embedded into the subband structure. Using polyphase decomposition of the analysis/synthesis filter banks, we derive the exact expression for the output mean square quantization error. Based on the minimization of the output mean square error, the technique for optimal filter design methodology is developed. Numerical design examples for optimum nonseparable paraunitary and biorthogonal filter banks are presented with a quincunx subsampling lattice. Through the simulation, $10\~20\;\%$ decreases in MSE have been observed compared with subband filter with no quantizers especially for low bit rate cases.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analysis on the Heart Rate Variability(HRV) of some dysmenorrhoea patients. Methods : We studied 30 patients visiting Kyung Hee University East-West Neo Medical Center from 7th Febrary 2007 to 22th Febrary 2007. Women with organic disease were excluded from this study. The severity of dysmenorrhoea were measured by Multidimensional Verbal Rating scale(MVRS), Verbal Rating scale (VRS) and Visual Analog Scale(VAS). And HRV was recorded. Results : According to comparison of Means of HRV values among the groups of None, Mild and Moderate, the points of almost all values were kept by order of Moderate group-Mild group-None group. Among these, the statistically significant things are PR, SDNN, Ln (TP), Ln (VLF), Ln (LF). According to correlation analysis between dysmenorrhoea and HRV, specially, there were many correlations in VRS2. Among these, the statistically significant things are LF norm, HF norm, LF/HF ratio(p<0.05L). Conclusion : The results suggest that HRV is related to dysmenorrhoea. We may analyze that dysmenorrhoea is related to, specially, increased activities of sympathetic nerve. We need more study for settling this.

  • Document-term frequency matrix is a type of data used in text mining. This matrix is often based on various documents provided by the objects to be analyzed. When analyzing objects using this matrix, researchers generally select only terms that are common in documents belonging to one object as keywords. Keywords are used to analyze the object. However, this method misses the unique information of the individual document as well as causes a problem of removing potential keywords that occur frequently in a specific document. In this study, we define data that can overcome this problem as proximity data. We introduce twelve methods that generate proximity data and cluster the objects through two clustering methods of multidimensional scaling and k-means cluster analysis. Finally, we choose the best method to be optimized for clustering the object.

  • To study the empirical seismic fragility of a reinforced concrete girder bridge, based on the theory of numerical analysis and probability modelling, a regression fragility method of a rapid fragility prediction model (Gaussian first-order regression probability model) considering empirical seismic damage is proposed. A total of 1,069 reinforced concrete girder bridges of 22 highways were used to verify the model, and the vulnerability function, plane, surface and curve model of reinforced concrete girder bridges (simple supported girder bridges and continuous girder bridges) considering the number of samples in multiple intensity regions were established. The new empirical seismic damage probability matrix and curve models of observation frequency and damage exceeding probability are developed in multiple intensity regions. A comparative vulnerability analysis between simple supported girder bridges and continuous girder bridges is provided. Depending on the theory of the regional mean seismic damage index matrix model, the empirical seismic damage prediction probability matrix is embedded in the multidimensional mean seismic damage index matrix model, and the regional rapid prediction matrix and curve of reinforced concrete girder bridges, simple supported girder bridges and continuous girder bridges in multiple intensity regions based on mean seismic damage index parameters are developed. The established multidimensional group bridge vulnerability model can be used to quantify and predict the fragility of bridges in multiple intensity regions and the fragility assessment of regional group reinforced concrete girder bridges in the future.

  • Recently, statistical analysis tools have been changed to the applications on the World Wide Web that access data stored in databases. On-line analytical processing(OLAP) is a class of technologies that give users statistical information with multidimensional views of data in databases. In this paper, we introduce the concept and requisites of OLAP system, and we propose some research issues.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the types of apparel usage situations percieved by female consumers. Data (N=132) were collected via a questionnaire developed on the focused stoup interviews and previous studies. By multidimensional scaling (MDS) analysis, two dimensions of perceptual criteria on apparel usage situations are identified: formality, and normative aspects of apparel style. Results indicate that apparel usage situations perceived by female consumers can be classified into four major types: (1) Formal-Normative Situations, (2) Informal-Normative Situations, (3) Informal-Normless Situations, and (4) Formal-Normless Situations.

  • The singular value decomposition is a tool which is used to find a linear structure of reduced dimension and to give interpretation of the lower dimensional structure about multivariate data. In this paper the singular value decomposition is reviewed from both algebraic and geometric point of view and, is illustrated the way which the tool is used in the multivariate techniques finding a simpler geometric structure for the data.
