Application of Multi-agent Reinforcement Learning to CELSS Material Circulation Control

  • A Controlled Ecological Life Support System(CELSS) is essential for man to live a long time in a closed space such as a lunar base or a mars base. Such a system may be an extremely complex system that has a lot of facilities and circulates multiple substances,. Therefore, it is very difficult task to control the whole CELSS. Thus by regarding facilities constituting the CELSS as agents and regarding the status and action as information, the whole CELSS can be treated as multi-agent system(MAS). If a CELSS can be regarded as MAS the CELSS can have three advantages with the MAS. First the MAS need not have a central computer. Second the expendability of the CELSS increases. Third, its fault tolerance rises. However it is difficult to describe the cooperation protocol among agents for MAS. Therefore in this study we propose to apply reinforcement learning (RL), because RL enables and agent to acquire a control rule automatically. To prove that MAS and RL are effective methods. we have created the system in Java, which easily gives a distributed environment that is the characteristics feature of an agent. In this paper, we report the simulation results for material circulation control of the CELSS by the MAS and RL.

  • Personalized reminder systems have to identify the user's current needs dynamically and proactively based on the user's current context. However, need identification methodologies and their feasible architectures for personalized reminder systems have been so far rare. Hence, this paper aims to propose a proactive need awaring mechanism by applying agent, semantic web technologies and RFID-based context subsystem for a personalized reminder system which is one of the supporting systems for a robust ubiquitous service support environment. RescorlaWagner model is adopted as an underlying need awaring theory. We have created a prototype system called NAMA(Need Aware Multi-Agent)-RFID, to demonstrate the feasibility of the methodology and of the mobile settings framework that we propose in this paper. NAMA considers the context, user profile with preferences, and information about currently available services, to discover the user's current needs and then link the user to a set of services, which are implemented as web services. Moreover, to test if the proposed system works in terms of scalability, a simulation was performed and the results are described.

  • Agent-based systems technology has generated lots of excitement in these years because of its promise as a new paradigm for conceptualizing. designing. and l implementing software systems Especially, there has been many researches for multi agent system because of the characteristics that it fits to the distributed and open Internet environments. In a multiagent system. agents must cooperate with each other through a Coordination procedure. when the conflicts between agents arise. where those are caused b by the point that each action acts for a purpose separately without coordination. But P previous researches for coordination methods in multi agent system have a deficiency that they can not solve correctly the cooperation problem between agents which have different goals in dynamic environment. In this paper. we solve the cooperation problem of multiagent that has multiple goals in a dynamic environment. with an automatic cooperative coordination model using I reinforcement learning. We will show the two pursuit problems that we extend a traditional problem in multi agent systems area for modeling the restriction in the multiple goals in a dynamic environment. and we have verified the validity of the proposed model with an experiment.

  • Multi-agent systems have been developed for supporting intelligent collaboration of distributed and independent software entities and are be-ing widely used for various applications. For the collaboration among agents, conversation policies (or interaction protocols) mutually agreed by agents are used. In today's dynamic electronic market environment, there can be frequent changes in conversation policies induced by the changes in transaction methods in the market, and thus, the importance of ad hoc conversation policies is increasing. In existing agent platforms, they allow the use of only several standard or fixed conversation policies, which requires inevitable re implementation for ad hoc conversation policies and leads to inefficiency and intricacy. This paper designs an agent platform that supports ad hoc conversation policies and presents the prototype implementation. The suggested system includes an exchangeable and interpretable conversation policy model, a meta conversation procedure for exchanging new conversation policies, and a mechanism for performing actual transactions with exchanged conversation policies in run time in an adaptive way.

  • In order to provide efficient retrieving results for user query on the web environment, the various searching algorithms have developed and considered user's preference and convenience. However, the searching algorithms are developed on the horizontal and non hierarchical web environment in general and could not apply to the complex hierarchical and functional web environments such like the enterprise network. In this paper, we purpose the multi-agent based web mining system which can provide the efficient mining results to the user on the special web environment. For doing this, we suggest the network model with the hierarchical web environment and model the multi agent based web mining system which has four corporation agents and fourteen process modules. Then, we explain the detailed functions of each agent considered the hierarchical environment according to the module. Especially, we purpose the new merging agent and improved ranking algorithm by using the graph theory.

  • Our paper proposes an agent based automated negotiation model. The agents can perform an integrative negotiation with multi-issue in a one-to-many way. The negotiation protocol follows the offer-counteroffer principal, and an adapted offer generation strategy. With the utility theory, agent could evaluate the offers and determine the following actions. In order to yield a top-quality deal and shorten the negotiation period, agents propose multiple offers, which consist of a particular combination of issue values and lave the identical utility with the given utility. The experiment shows that the model ensures the participants could reach a better agreement in a short time.

  • Recently environment-friendly construction method is major trend in both domestic and world constrction fields. In this paper High Functional Performance Agent(Hi-FA) which has various improved engineering characteristics different with conventional Portland cement grouting, such as high viscosity, liquidity, void filling ability, early hardening, and separation resistance, was analyzed by field and laboratory test. Also soil improvement and existing deep foundation protection works were performed and analyzed using Hi-FA.

  • A methacrylate monomer having phospholipid polar group and cell membrane structure is known as highly biocompatible. Based on these properties, new biocompatible multi-functional textile finishing agent was developed using phospolipid copolymer. 2-Methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) was synthesized using 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), 2-chloro-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane (COP), trimethylamine (TMA) and triethylamine (TEA), and then polymerized to prepare MPC copolymer by radical polymerization using AIBN. The structures of MPC and MPCE were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR and will be evaluated as textile finishing agent in further study.

  • This paper deals with a new automated guided vehicle (AGV) control system for distributed control. Proposed AGV control system adapts the multi-agent technology. The system is composed of two types of controller: routing and order. The order controller is in charge of assignment of orders to AGVs. Through the bidding-based negotiation with routing controllers, the order controller assigns a new order to the proper AGV. The order controller announces order information to the routing controllers. Then the routing controllers generate a routing schedule for the order and make a bid according to the routing schedule. If the routing schedule conflicts with other AGV's one, the routing controller makes an alternative through negotiation with other routing controllers. The order controller finally evaluates bids and selects one. Each controller consists of a set of agents: negotiation agent, decision making agent and communication agent. We focus on the agent architecture and negotiation-based AGV scheduling algorithm. Proposed system is validated through an exemplary scenario.

  • Since the 1990s, the advancement of semiconductor technology has resulted in the development of microprocessor technology, auxiliary computer technology, and application technology such as intelligent algorithms (neural network, fuzzy, etc.). These based the development of intelligent machines. An agent is autonomous software that recognizes environment, exchanges knowledge with other agents and makes decisions. We designed agent-based sensor structure. For the purpose, first, it modeled the function of an intelligent machine. Second, it designed sensory function on the agent level.
