경량화에 대한 안전성을 고려한 로우컨트롤암의 다목적 최적설계 (Multi-objective Optimization of Lower Control Arm Considering the Stability for Weight Reduction)

  • Recently, miniaturization and weight reduction is getting more attention due to various benefits in automotive components design. It is a trend that the design of experiment(DOE) and statical design method are frequently used for optimization. In this research, the safety of lower control arm is evaluated according to its material change form S45C to A16061 for the reduction of arm's weight. The variance analysis on the basis of structure analysis and DOE is applied to the lower control m. We have proposed a statistical design model to evaluate the effect of structural modification by performing the practical multi-objective optimization considering mass, stress and deflection.

Multi-objective optimization design for the multi-bubble pressure cabin in BWB underwater glider

  • In this paper, multi-objective optimization of a multi-bubble pressure cabin in the underwater glider with Blended-Wing-Body (BWB) is carried out using Kriging and the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II). Two objective functions are considered: buoyancy-weight ratio and internal volume. Multi-bubble pressure cabin has a strong compressive capacity, and makes full use of the fuselage space. Parametric modeling of the multi-bubble pressure cabin structure is automatic generated using UG secondary development. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is employed to study the structural performance using the commercial software ANSYS. The weight of the primary structure is determined from the volume of the Finite Element Structure (FES). The stress limit is taken into account as the constraint condition. Finally, Technique for Ordering Preferences by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method is used to find some trade-off optimum design points from all non-dominated optimum design points represented by the Pareto fronts. The best solution is compared with the initial design results to prove the efficiency and applicability of this optimization method.

  • Modem reciprocating air compressors have tendency to a multi-stage W-type or V-type cylinder arrangement for the purpose of high outlet pressure, compactness and low vibration and noise. A valid counter weight calculation method using the complex expression is proposed for reducing the inertia forces of the compressor. Counter weight removes only 1st forward whirl component. Counter weight formulations are applied to the six various compressor structures which are (a) 1 cylinder single-throw crank shaft, (b) 2 cylinder single-throw crank shaft (c) 2 cylinder double-throw clank shaft, (d) 3 cylinder single-throw crank shaft, (e) 4 cylinder single-throw crank shaft and (f) 4 cylinder double-throw crank shaft. The improvement of performance is verified through available vibration test.

영역기반 가중치 맵을 이용한 멀티스팩트럼 플래시 영상 획득 (Multi-spectral Flash Imaging using Region-based Weight Map)

  • 저조도 환경에서 카메라로 영상을 획득하기 위해 일반적으로 가시광 플래시를 사용하거나 장노출 기법을 사용하게 된다. 그러나 가시광 플래시를 사용할 때 플래시 광에 의한 색 왜곡이나 적목 현상, 눈부심에 의한 거부감을 발생시킨다. 또한 장노출을 사용하게 되면 물체의 움직임에 의한 흔들림 현상이 발생하게 된다. 따라서 최근에는 이러한 단점을 극복하고, 저조도 환경에서 고화질의 영상을 획득하기 위하여 멀티 스팩트럴 플래시(Multi-spectral flash image)를 이용하여 영상을 획득하는 방법이 소개되었다. 이 방법은 가시광과 UV/IR스펙트럼의 다섯 채널을 이용하여 가시광영상의 색 정보와 UV/IR 스팩트럼 영상의 세부정보를 최적화하여 영상을 획득하는 방법이다. 하지만, 픽셀 기반의 최적화 과정에 있어 색 왜곡과 다른 잡음을 발생시키게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 색 왜곡과 잡음을 개선하기 위해 영역 기반의 가중치 맵을 최적화 방법에 적용하여 색 왜곡을 개선하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 먼저, 영상에 대하여 Canny 에지 검출 방법을 사용하여 영상의 윤곽을 검출하였다. 이를 가중치 맵으로 최적화방법에 적용함으로, 세부 영역에 대하여 UV/IR 플래시 영상의 정보에 가중치를 부여하고, 평탄한 영역에 대하여 가시광 영상의 색 정보를 가중치를 부여하여 색 왜곡을 개선하였다. 제안한 방법을 평가하기 위하여 실험을 통하여 제안한 방법과 이전방법을 비교하였고, 객관적 평가와 주관적 평가 모두 제안한 방법이 우수한 성능을 나타내었다.

목표중량 근사치 자동 설정을 위한 멀티헤드 조합시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on Automated Multi-Channel Combination System for the Closest Target Weight)

  • This paper is a study of the functions required for the system to quantify the closest target weight by combining several random weights such as chips, snacks, fruits, and vegetables. The multi-head weigher is designed for high-performance applications requiring increased production rates and tight accuracy tolerances. This combination system has 12 heads considered in the form of a rectangular array of $2{\times}6$ or $3{\times}4$. Channel combination can usually occur between 1 and n, and the frequency was the highest with two or three combinations. Experimental result of a combination system for a total target weight was measured at the range from 100g to 500g by increments of 50g, and the average success rate was about 70%. The average elapsed time was about 1.7 seconds, which means it can be used for the packaging of agricultural products with a variety of items.

  • This paper introduces the structural design optimization of a high speed machining center using multi-step optimization combined with G.A.(Genetic Algorithm) and Weighted Method. In this case, the design problem is to find out the best design variables which minimize the static compliance, the dynamic compliance, and the weight of the machine structure simultaneously. Dimensional thicknesses of the thirteen structural members of the machine structure are adopted as design variables. The first step is the cross-section configuration optimization, in which the area moment of inertia of the cross-section for each structural member is maximized while its area is kept constant The second step is a static design optimization, In which the static compliance and the weight of the machine structure are minimized under some dimensional and safety constraints. The third step IS a dynamic design optimization, where the dynamic compliance and the structure weight are minimized under the same constraints. After optunization, static and dynamic compliances were reduced to 62.3% and 95.7% Eorn the initial design, while the weight of the moving bodies are also in the feaslble range.

Optimization of structural elements of transport vehicles in order to reduce weight and fuel consumption

  • In global competition manufacturing companies have to produce modern, new constructions from advanced materials in order to increase competitiveness. The aim of my research was to develop a new composite cellular plate structure, which can be primarily used for structural elements of road, rail, water and air transport vehicles (e.g. vehicle bodies, ship floors). The new structure is novel and innovative, because all materials of the components of the newly developed structure are composites (laminated Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) deck plates with pultruded Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) stiffeners), furthermore combines the characteristics of sandwich and cellular plate structures. The material of the structure is much more advantageous than traditional steel materials, due mainly to its low density, resulting in weight savings, causing lower fuel consumption and less environmental damage. In the study the optimal construction of a given geometry of a structural element of a road truck trailer body was defined by single- and multi-objective optimization (minimal cost and weight). During the single-objective optimization the Flexible Tolerance Optimization method, while during the multi-objective optimization the Particle Swarm Optimization method were used. Seven design constraints were considered: maximum deflection of the structure, buckling of the composite plates, buckling of the stiffeners, stress in the composite plates, stress in the stiffeners, eigenfrequency of the structure, size constraint for design variables. It was confirmed that the developed structure can be used principally as structural elements of transport vehicles and unit load devices (containers) and can be applied also in building construction.

Efficient weight initialization method in multi-layer perceptrons

  • Back-propagation is the most widely used algorithm for supervised learning in multi-layer feed-forward networks. However, back-propagation is very slow in convergence. In this paper, a new weight initialization method, called rough map initialization, in multi-layer perceptrons is proposed. To overcome the long convergence time, possibly due to the random initialization of the weights of the existing multi-layer perceptrons, the rough map initialization method initialize weights by utilizing relationship of input-output features with singular value decomposition technique. The results of this initialization procedure are compared to random initialization procedure in encoder problems and xor problems.

  • In multi-story buildings, heavy-weight floor impact noise propagates through multiple layers. In order to evaluate the influence of structural vibration and propagation, the actual twelve-story building was excited by an impact ball. Sound and vibration responses of each floor was measured using accelerometers and a microphone. Vibration characteristics and its transfer paths were different depending on the excitation floor locations due to differences in the structural characteristics. From the measurement result, transfer characteristics were quantified by statistical energy analysis. It was confirmed that the heavy-weight floor impact noise influence not only adjacent floor. The impact noise transferred and affected multiple layers.

  • For the purpose of increasing compressed air pressure higher than 30bar lightening weight and decreasing installation area of air compressor used for shipboard and industrial power plant it is necessary to arrange its cylinders as a w-type or v-type construction multi-stage compression pro-cess more than two stages and to increase its operation speed higher than 1200rpm In this recip-rocating type air compressor operated in high speed having a crank mechanism and complicate cylinder arrangement there is a vibration problems which can be solved by balancing its recipro-cating parts with balance weight and approriate arranging of cylinder's arrangement angles.
